Sunday Morning Bloody Mary: Draft links to click

Atlanta Journal Constitution - Multiple UGA players looking at NFL draft
Georgia juniors A.J. Green, Justin Houston, Brandon Boykin, Trinton Sturdivant, Cordy Glenn and Blair Walsh met with Falcons president Rich McKay to discuss entering the draft. Apparently that's not against the NCAA's hardcore rules, but whatever. Of those, I expect Green, Houston and Boykin to go pro. Sturdivant, who is finally back from multiple injuries, could really help himself next season and possibly become a first-round pick. Glenn is a guard and Blair is a kicker, so don't expect either in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Washington Post - Williams, Evans to be evaluated for draft
Virginia Tech running backs Ryan Williams and Darren Evans ahve both filed paperwork to the NFL Draft advisory committee to get advice on going pro. Hokies running backs coach Billy Hite to the Post that doesn't think both will come back. Of the two, expect Evans to go pro. He has a family to support and is near graduation.

CBS Sports - FCS seniors get spotlight with Scout Bowl
Did you know there was something called the Scout Bowl going on this past week? Me either. Get some practice details from Chad Reuter.

CBS Sports - Underrated prospects prove worth in FCS playoffs
Rob Rang takes a look at some FCS players who shined in this weekend's playoff games. Really good read.

Dallas Morning News - If we redid the 2010 NFL Draft
Rick Gosselin does a re-mock of this year's draft. I mostly hate these, but if you haven't seen it, hit the link.

Three of this year's top quarterback prospects will have come through the state of Arizona this season.

That re-mock was pretty stupid, I doubt even if the draft was re-done Marc Mariani wouldn’t be a first rounder.

yeah that redraft is kinda dumb

the Skins would really pick Devin McCourty over Trent Williams? Yeah the Skins have been gashed through the air, but I shudder to think what the OL would like without Williams (even a sometimes injured, sometimes inconsistent Williams).

Uh.. RT?

Cassel out, Andrew Luck in!

by BAMFSpecialOps on Dec 12, 2010 7:27 PM EST up reply actions

sure, but if I recall correctly

he was implying Saffold would be the LT (I may have mis-read). Either way, there are more pressing needs for the Browns than a RT selected 7th overall. Haden was just fine.

The whole thing really is retarded

So why not have a retarded selection? haha

Cassel out, Andrew Luck in!

A center in the top 3?

Just plain stupid. Oh well, must have been a filler column for the guy.

Those were good comments about Newton

Although I really have to question a guy that calls Delhomme one of the best QBs in the league.

Before he had surgery he was a pretty good QB

But, he hasn’t been the same since. Still, he’s still a good character guy to have on your team.

O of course Denver would go for a TE in the first round

too bad we didnt get those 3 TD’s…

Thanks but no thanks. Hindsights 20/20, and I bet this a-hole would have a completely different “re-mock” next year

Really what this list should be

is the best rookies of the year, as really he takes no account of needs or anything relevant to drafting

It’s stupid, but it certainly doesn’t make the guy an a-hole, geez.

I have my own questions about Cam Newton, though I rarely like prospects with so little experience...

But that article didn’t offer much insights. I’m not the biggest fan of nebulous speculation on motivations to play the game especially when no solid evidence is offered, and that article doesn’t cite any examples, just “character flaws”. That has a kind of self-reinforcing effect where everyone believes it because everyone else says it, but I’m not buying it that easily.

Cam is a first rounder but not on my team

Shockingly Todd McShay had the best quip I’ve heard on Cam Newton. He is a first round talent and will go in the 1st but not on “my” team. I couldn’t agree more.
