Revised NFL Draft top 200

After the jump, find a revised overall top 200 for the 2011 NFL Draft. This is the first rankings adjustment since October so there are several notable changes.

As always, give as much feedback as possible in the comments. If you see someone missing or an error, please point it out. Putting these together can make you go cross-eyed.

This can also be found in the top of the site under "top 100." Positional rankings will be updated over the next couple of days to reflect all of the changes.

I’m surprised to see Kenjon Barner ranked but that is because I think there is a 0% chance he leaves this year

I don’t think he’ll leave either. But I figured if I’m including redshirt sohpmores, I wanted to get him out there.

what do you guys think of Lavonte David?

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

Definitely.

He has a nose for the ball and is involved in nearly every tackle, but he still has some techique, etc. to learn.

His production first and foremost. He leads the nation in TFL and has 13 sacks on the year. It looks like he has the stamina to be an every down defensive end and has the capability to play rush linebacker. I think he will shine in workouts too with his speed and strength. Apparently, he can bench press almost 500 pounds. Pass rushers with amazing senior years seem to rise quickly on draft boards like Brandon Graham last year. I think he goes in the 10-19 range.

by I_Bleed_Red. on Dec 20, 2010 1:46 PM EST up reply actions

I feel like he could thrive as an Elephant OLB/DE for the Patriots...

….where he can play OLB standing up and rush a la Jermaine Cunningham and also play the DE in the sub package. I think he’d be a quality pick for the Patriots if he drops to their Carolina pick.

OL and WR have fallen

You’re upsetting the OL team-need fans who are trying to convince themselves that half a dozen guys belong in the 1st round.

You have been high on Paea and Jordan, I was surprised to see them below Heyward and Casey.

I think you can justifiably compare Casey and Paea. I don’t think there’s anything Paea can do that Casey can’t.

I like Heyward more as a 3-4 end prospect than anything else. I don’t buy into people dropping him into the mid 20s.

For sure. For the record, I do have Pouncey at 38. I just don’t see Wisniewski, O’Dowd or even Brewster as being as good as the centers the past couple of drafts.

If Pouncy deserves a 38, wouldn't that be a guard ranking?

He struggled way too much as a center this year. His stock was sure sacrificed for the position switch.

He improved a lot throughout the year. Everyone remembers those first few games, but he really came along the second half of the season.

I'm curious as to why Heyward is still ranked so high.

He’s had an utterly disapointing year, and with all of the other quality talent at DE with risers such as Kerrigan, how does he justify being in the Top 15 of your big board?

by rws591 on Dec 20, 2010 1:47 PM EST reply actions

The guy is a physical freak. This years Carlos Dunlap, but I think he goes in the 1st because he doesn’t have the character concerns.

by I_Bleed_Red. on Dec 20, 2010 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

Last season, Heyward had 10 tackles for loss. This year, he has 9.5. I don’t really see the season-to-season disparity, especially considering the extra blockers he faced this season.

I’m still just apprehensive about Kerrigan because of his lacking athleticism. I want to see him at the Senior Bowl. Other than Jake Locker, there’s no player I’m more interested in seeing how they do there. If Kerrigan stayed at DE, is he big enough? Does he have the lateral agility to play OLB?

With Heyward, you know what you’re going to get. I don’t think you can say the same with Kerrigan.

Fair point. I don’t think I mentioned much in the Jones report his leadership and football IQ pluses. That’s why I think he can start immediately and get such a high ranking.

Why, though?

Joe "We Don't Have a Plan" Ellis, Denver Broncos COO, 2008-2010: 19-27 record; 3 head coaches; no true GM; cancels Champ Bailey's contract extension when negotiations are 80% complete; admits that Josh McDaniels will end up being a successful head coach in the NFL, admits that he is in the top of the league in game-planning, and admits that the organisation needed to do more to help him, but fires him anyway. It all starts up top.

Dan, as a fellow Browns fan,

who would you want us to take in the 1st round out of:

1) Nick Fairley
2) Julio Jones/Justin Blackmon
4) Marcell Dareus
5) Robert Quinn

I like Quinn the most (could be DeMarcus Ware at rush linebacker).

If he’s not available then I’d go with Jones or Blackmon.

I know that you have Fairley the highest ranked of these 5 guys but I’d personally rather have a stud WR/rush LB over a slightly higher ranked 3-4 DE.

Probably a wide receiver. They so desperately need a No. 1.

I do too.

Joe Haden and Frank TJ Ward have been excellent this year.

Funny thing is that the Ward pick was scoffed at by pretty much everyone (including myself) but now it looks like a terrific pick. Homie has a mean streak.

Yeah that pissed me off.

You guys shut down Hillis.

Yeah.

McCoy has been awesome this year (wouldn’t believe in a million years I would say this), Hillis has been great, the O-line has been good (the right side of the line can definitely be improved though), and Watson has looked strong at TE.

Let’s go Blackmon or Julio Jones in round 1 if Quinn isn’t available.

Ya, I agree that Julio or Blackmon would make a huge difference. They could become a go to guy and take the #1 CB off of Massoquio, making him more efficent.

How did Sheldon Brown play this year, by the way? He was always one of my favorite Eagles, but I just don’t ever get to see the Browns.

by JimmyK on Dec 20, 2010 9:21 PM EST up reply actions

He's been pretty good this year.

I like Brown. Elam’s not bad, either. We have a good secondary. Remember, Haden became a regular only a few weeks ago.

Yeah, he's had some issues with his shoulder in the last few weeks.

JJ Watt is gonna be a steal for someone

hopefully a 4-3 team gets him to play LDE. He’d probably be just fine as a 3-4 DE, but it would most likely sap him of his excellent pass rushing skill.

I'm surprised Nate Irving

Is rated so high on your board. Not sure if he should be that high. And I’m a big fan of his. Matter of fact, he is my favorite defensive player entering this draft.

Am I crazy to think AJ Green would work in Carolina, Smith and Green could do some serious damage.

Alex Henery is such a stud.

I’m hoping Roy and Hagg can raise their stock with all-star games, combine, etc. I really like both those guys.

Question Dan: What is holding Dejon Gomes back from being a legit NFL player?

Did you see that kick he made in the last game?

He practically cleared the uprights from 53 yards. Nebraska fans were begging Bo and Watson to let him try the 60+ yarder towards the end. But of course, Watson calls a couple pass plays in a row resulting in sacks driving us out of range.

Miami (OH) PLEASE take him!

He’s a little stiff as an athlete. I’ll have rated 14th among free safeties when I put them up.
