Jon Baldwin has strong words about entering NFL Draft
In an exclusive with Chris Steuber of NFL Draft Scout/CBS Sports, Pittsburgh wide receiver Jon Baldwin announced that he's entering the 2011 NFL Draft.
It's no surprise that Baldwin is entering the draft, but the words he chose to use are. Following the resignation of head coach Dave Wannstedt, Baldwin told Steuber:
"Heck yeah I'm leaving. It can only get worse. They had me running a lot of deep routes [this year] and yards were hard to come by. I barely ran intermediate routes; it felt like they were purposely trying to disrupt my draft stock."
If anyone watched Pitt games this season, it was clear new quarterback Tino Sunseri either didn't know how to get Baldwin the ball or couldn't physically.
The perception of Baldwin is that he had a down year with 52 receptions for 810 yards and five touchdowns. But NFL personnel might have a different perception of Baldwin after publicly bashing a teammate.

Future high talent, pain in the ass WR for both teams on the field.
shoulda shut his damn mouth and let the scouting and workouts do the talking.
He’ll be a first rounder. But may be more of a detriment then a help if this quote tells the tale of what sort of person he actually is (strong chance it isn’t of course….)
Unless he goes to a good org with an established coach. He may wear out his welcome like Plaxico Burress. Just keep it on safety, Jon.

or of course register the damn thing before you light yourself up.

Wow.
If he gets mad about bad playcalling, Cincy would be the last place for him. Too bad, because I was hoping he’d fall to us in the second.

Hey man, the way you're talking, it's like you expect Brat to be back.
Joe Reedy: "Supposedly Marvin could not find his flag to challenge the call. I am not kidding. #bengals"
Relax a little.
He is a 20/21 year old kid, who just saw his coach who recruiting him and coached his entire career at Pitt fired after the team didn’t live up to expectations. There is no doubt he has the physical tools to be a special player in the NFL. And lets be honest, how many wide receivers don’t ever show any emotion? If this hurts him in the least bit, I would actually be thrilled so he can fall to my Falcons at the bottom of the first round. But to say this one quote will hurt his stock is probably jumping the gun a bit.

Agreed
Maybe not the best decision, but let’s not condemn the kid for expressing a bit of frustration…
I was mad as $#%@ when we drafted Dexter McCluster and now I'm ordering his jersey......oh the irony! Go Chiefs!

I think the worst thing about it is that it just shows stupidity.
He’s a guy waiting to be drafted. If he had any sense at all he’d be shutting his mouth right now and saying all the right thinks when he has to talk.
But yeah, I’m not going to call him a diva yet.

This is what I’m trying to get at. If there’s any time he should tow the company line, it’s right now.
And Wannstedt wasn’t fired. He resigned, officially.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
Ah its not an arrest. On its own, its nothing. It’ll only be an issue if taken in conjunction with something else.
Besides… If he runs a 4.4 or better at the combine, he can stab a nun in time square and still go in the first round.

Can anyone name three top receivers who have not expressed their feelings on a national stage?

I don't think Calvin Johnson has.
That counts, right?

Calvin Johnson is pure class
And a absolute beast on the field, my favorite player in the league.
Highlight of my football watching "career" was watching the 5 game parlay that put the Chiefs in the playoffs a few years ago..

Andre Johnson
Desean Jackson

After Andre expressed his feelings for Courtland Finnegan...
He is no longer on the list. I don’t think Megatron has, which is another reason why I love him. Couldn’t find anything on Jackson or Nicks, although I’m not sold on Nicks being a top wide receiver after one successful year. But I believe I made my point that a majority of the top receivers have a mouth to go with them. To penalize this guy for speaking his mind after an emotional time might be a little unjust.

Haha
It’s refreshing to hear somebody be so blunt about their situation.

Almost
Makes someone want him more just for the sake of someone saying what they are thinking. I almost appreciate that. As long as he stays out of trouble off the field, I’m good with him. Jags have bigger needs, but he would look really good in teal and fill a smaller need

Where did he bash his teammate?
Seems like he was talking about his coaches.
But I’m glad he opened his mouth, because he isn’t being a phony. Now teams know what they are getting if they select him.
Glad to see Jon is a pretty intelligent guy.
Of course Dave Wannstedt wanted to prevent you from going the NFL. Its not like sending recruits to the NFL helps recruiting. Oh wait…
Seriously, that is a pretty paranoid and ridiculous viewpoint to express to an interviewer.
