Demaryius Thomas breaks his foot

According to multiple reports published online, Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas broken his foot during training today.

This is the worst time for an injury to befall Thomas as he was expected to time very well at the Scouting Combine next week.

It is unknown whether or not Thomas will require surgery or if he'll workout prior to the draft.

Thomas has reportedly been timed in the 40-yard dash recently at 4.38 seconds.

What it means

This is the worst time for a player like Thomas to get injured. He is an inexperienced route runner, so he could have showed during workouts that he is able to run different kinds of routes.

There are questions about Thomas' timing in and out of his cuts because of what he was required to do at Georgia Tech.

Thomas' injury could lead to players like Brandon LaFell and Jordan Shipley getting drafted before him.

Last season, his junior year, Thomas caught 46 passes for 1,154 yards and eight touchdowns.

So how far does he drop?

Third round? Maybe 4th? Possibly all the way to the 5th?

WOW!

…well….surgery didn’t kill Crabtree’s draft status…but Thomas is no Crab.

…he was mid-2nd with good workouts…possibly high second, but not I doubt that he cracks the third.

…Some team’s getting an absolute steam if he lasts till the 4th tho. If he does have surgery and it checks out…I don’t think its out of the question for him to remain in the 2nd.

I agree, players like Lafell and Shipley got the ball in their court now.

That sucks

I hate hearing these stories, you hit it right on the head, it is the worst possible time for an injury.

McShay, Todd McShay you hear me boy? It's me TJ and I'm coming for your damn job boy! Oh be scared, be very scared McShay.

WOW

I hope it doenst cost him to much. This guy is going to be a super stud I guarantee you, would love for the Chargers to target him if he falls to the bottom of the 3rd.

This doesn't mean much. If Ted Ginn can get drafted in the top 10 with a broken foot, so can Thomas.

He still won’t fall out of the early 3rd round.

Well, not drafted in the top 10. That's not what I meant but you get my drift. His stock won't fall that far.

He’s still a late 2nd-early 3rd.

I figured…my first though was “there is no way thomas is top 10” but then I read the part below and then i realized…“yeah, this guy knows where thomas will be drafted”

If he drops to the late 4th...

…do you think the Patriots might grab him?

i really dont see why people think that

there more to being a good WR then being a big and fast

oh yeah..being able to catch the ball…he does that pretty well too.

Didn't Calvin Johnson come from Georgia Tech?

the same school coincidentally that Thomas is from?

Were their roles that much different at GT?

Megatron’s in a differenct caliber…but if he could translate to the NFL…why can;t Thomas?

3rd - 4th

I don’t know that he was a 2nd rounder to begin with. I’m guessing this knocks him down half to a full round. Probably late 3rd – early 4th would be my guess.
