Miami Dolphins team needs

A season after their surprising playoff appearance the Miami Dolphins struggled with injuries and inconsistent play. The offensive struggled to make big plays in the passing game and the defense had trouble getting consistent pressure on the quarterback and stopping the run. If the Dolphins want to get back to the playoffs they need to fill some important holes.

1. Wide Receiver

- It’s time to consider Ted Ginn Jr. a bust and a big play threat needs to be found. If the Dolphins want Chad Henne to succeed they need to provide him with weapons. I think that Dez Bryant would be a nice fit for this offense and could be around at pick # 12.

2. Nose Tackle

- The nose tackle position is arguably the most important position in the 3-4 defenses. Current nose tackle Jason Ferguson is aging and constantly injured. I think it’s time to start looking for a replacement and Dan Williams could be the Dolphins pick at #12. They also could gamble that Terrence Cody slips to them in the second round.

3. Linebacker

- Miami could use upgrades at both the inside and outside linebacker positions. Jerry Porter will be moving on and Jason Taylor is inching closer to retirement. They signed Cameron Wake last offseason but he still has to prove he is the long term solution. Channing Crowder continues to struggle with staying healthy and when healthy he could use a playmaking partner inside.

I hope they sign Dansby and draft Bryant.

Anything to help Big Bad Insane Rolando McClain falling to the Gints.

Nice nickname.

For some reason, though, I just can’t find Parcells letting a talent like that go. He tends to avoid WRs and I think he wants trench stability (O-Line, D Front 7) before spreading to the extremities.

I can see the Phins getting a WR in the early-mid rounds.

The staff doesn't see him as a starter.

what do you think about Soliai's game versus the Jets

and Nick Mangold? I thought he looked good and has the potential to be a starter. I think he’ll give you something better than what D Williams will give you…I don’t like Williams at 12; if they can trade down and take him late 1 I’d be ok with that…Cody at 12 overall I could live with. The knock on Soliai is his consistency but I wouldn’t mind passing on Williams at 12 and taking best available pass rusher. If ther’s none at 12, no McCray, and can’t trade down, then I think Cody is in play. First round they have to be thinking 1) McClain (wont last ‘til 12; 2) Best available Pass rusher or D Bryant (but I don’t think Parcells will pass up his top pass rusher for Bryant…3)trade down or Cody…Trading down should be the #1 priority- going back to the 20’s picking up a 2nd rounder and taking a pass rusher there IMO

Tedd Ginn is the poor man's Devin Hester

Which really isn’t saying much at all.

As for their needs…I wouldn’t be surprised to see them pay a 1 and a 3 for either Jackson or Austin…or make a huge run at Marshall.

by Owner on Feb 18, 2010 1:00 PM EST reply actions

That's ridiculous. Parcells would never do that.

If he never drafts WR’s with his 1st round picks, why would he trade one AND a 3rd for a WR?

Simply put...

A star WR …A YOUNG star WR to go along with Chad Henne and the emerging offense would be a great move for them. Adding that extra fire power to take away from the running game would be a huge advantage to them. Its a completely smart move and they’ve been linked to each and every one of these WR’s sometime in this brief off-season.

They don’t have a true #1 on this team and getting 1 would be a major upgrade to their offense.

They have way too many needs to make such a move.

For that, they take Dez Bryant in the first round. Yes, they don’t have a go-to wide-out. Unfortunately, they also don’t have a NT, a strongside rush-linebacker, FS, TE, or ILB. All those other needs have to be addressed before they make such a bold move. They only WR I see the Fins trading for is Anquan Boldin, and that’s IF it’s for a 3rd round pick. That’s a big “IF”.

Ted Ginn could have value at WR

if he wasn’t a main option. Just like Hester isn’t getting it done as a #1, Ginn won’t either. They need top notch receivers to play off of. Cleveland got it right (did I say that, oh man shoot me) with Cribbs, if they try to turn him into a star receiver then he will be a bust too.

As long as he’s used properly Ginn can be a threat, but he’ll never have the tools of a #1 receiver and not really a solid #2 either. I think out of the slot where he can stretch the field run quick screens and reverses he could be dangerous.

by Phantaskippy on Feb 18, 2010 1:38 PM EST reply actions

If I'm Parcells, I'm trading Ginn for whatever I can get.

Most likely a 3rd or 4th and a late round pick.

The problem is

People see Ginn’s athletic ability and think, “Bam! That guy is a game changer!” and they overpay for him. Hester is the same way, he’s more valuable as a fourth receiver who returns punts and kicks, but you can’t dedicate that much money to that role. So they try to give him a role where he deserves that much and he isn’t half the weapon he was.

If I had every single 3rd nd 4th round pick in the entire draft

I don’t trade it for Ted Ginn.

I’d rather just search stationary stores for that Orlando Jones character from the replacements.

I would guess Defense first, D-line or Outside LB.

Jevon Bess or however u spell it is going the answer to the Number 1 WR.

I think d line and LB as well

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
