New England Patriots team needs
Recently any season the New England Patriots don’t make the Super Bowl is a disappointment, so expect changes to be made. The Patriots have a lot of draft picks this year and expect them to give the defense an influx of talent.
1. Linebacker
- Adalius Thomas is all but gone and the Patriots need a pass rushing presence off the edge. First round options include Ricky Sapp and Sergio Kindle. Expect the Patriots to use one of their three 2nd round picks to find an upgrade over inside linebacker Eric Alexander.
2. Wide Receiver
- The Patriots need to address the receiver position, Randy Moss is aging and Wes Welker is coming of a major injury. Julian Edelman showed some promise but depth needs to be added. Second round options include Mardy Gilyard and Arrelious Benn.
3. Cornerback
- The Patriots used some picks last year on this position but more talent and depth is needed. Shawn Springs is not getting younger and Leigh Bodden is expected to be a hot target on the free agent market. Targets may include Kyle Wilson and Patrick Robinson in the first round and Brandon Ghee in the second.

I'm surprised DE isn't on the list.
Despite our injuries to Welker, the age of Moss and the unproven-ness of Tate and Edelman, and despite our picks last year in Brace (interior), Pryor (int. and exterior) and Richards, I still think we need to utilize one of our top picks on a dominant DE.
I’d rank the needs:
1. DE
2. OLB
3. CB
4. WR
5. OT
6. RB
Why OT? Volmer and Light are fine

Two reasons re: Light
1) Matt Light is getting up there in age.
2) It’s likely he won’t be back after this coming season.
Best to bring in someone new via draft to learn from Light and eventually take over his position.
The 2010 New York Mets: Maybe it's the Phillies' turn to have 95% of its roster on the DL
The 2009 New England Patriots: At least we got our division title back
The 2009-10 New Jersey Devils: Allergic to second periods
Volmer?

Vollmer is about to hit his stride and be a stud like Mankins.
Vollmer will be fine. My concern is more with Light.

my concern is more with Kaz
I trust Light @ LT than i trust Kaz @ RT

So why would you need an LT if you got Vollmer

Matt Light...
…has shown a tendency to slow down in the last 5 weeks of the season for each of the past 3 season. Vollmer is a stud. As R_Adragna said, Light is where the issue is.
He seemed quality this season, but that was because of an injury (*red flag) in the middle of the season that allowed him to sit for 7 weeks. After week 11 in 2008, Light gave up double the sacks he gave up prior to that point. Yes he’s good, but he’s also 32. How much longer will he be good?
Might as well pick up a player who can develop behind him a year/can step in around week 11 when Light will slow down again.

Agreed on this for the most part
However, I’d move OT up at #3 and adding TE to the list. Also, DE and OLB could be flip-flopped around in order of need.
So something like this:
1) OLB
2) DE
3) OT
4) CB
5) TE
6) RB
7) WR

I don't think WR is #2
1. OLB
2. DE
3. RB
4. CB
5. OT
6. WR
7. DT
I'm not a Pats fan but how about a Running Back?
I see they also need an OLB but they are in desperate shape for a good RB. Taylor, Faulk, and Maroney are not cutting it.
We have the 3 oldest backs in the league in Taylor, Faulk and Morris.
RB is a definite need, but we have more pressing needs.

I don't think they should move up
Just because of the depth in this draft especially at rushbacker.
