Turf Show Times Mock Draft Challenge 1.0
What's up guys. This is my first post on the "Mocking The Draft" site. I'm a Rams fan and check TST daily. The blog organizers set up a mock challenge and I'd like your opinions. This is my first attempt to ever do a Mock Draft but feel free to slam it all you want
1. Rams: Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma
As much as everyone wants the Rams to select Suh, I thinkSpags and company draft the QB of the future. The Rams passed on Matt Ryan and Mark Sanchez in the past 2 drafts and I think they will pull the trigger on Bradford.
2. Lions: Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska
The Lions were one of the worst teams in pass rush and get the best DL in the draft. Suh will need help though in Detriot before the Lions have a respectable defense.
3. Bucs: Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma
The Bucs really would love it if Suh dropped in their laps, but they will settle for the 2nd best DL in the draft.
4. Redskins: Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame
The Jason Cambell experiment in Washington is over
5. Chiefs: Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State
If the Chiefs expect Matt Cassell to last as their starting QB, they need to keep him off his back. Theirs no way I see them passing on an OT in the 1st round, and Okung will be the pick
6. Seahawks: Eric Berry S Tennessee
Eric Berry lands in the lap of our most hated rival. Aaron Curry and Eric Berry make the Seafags really solid on the defensive side.
7. Browns: Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech
8. Raiders: Rolando McClain LB Alabama
9. Bills: Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State
T.O is not going to be playing in Buffalo this season so the Bills draft Bryant to give whoever is going to be under center a playmaker at WR
10. Jaguars: Carlos Dunlap DE Florida
The Jags will settle on a different local star to help their pass rush
11. Broncos: Joe Haden CB Florida
Haden and Champ = sick CB combo
12. Dolphins: Sergio Kindle LB Texas
13. 49ers: Taylor Mays S USC
14. Seahawks: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma
15. Giants: Everson Griffen DE USC
16. Titans: Golden Tate WR Notre Dame
17. 49ers: Brandon Spikes LB Florida
18. Steelers: Anthony Davis OT Rutgers
19. Falcolns: C.J Spiller RB Clemson
Michael Turner and CJ Spiller make one of the most dangerous 2 headed monster at RB
20. Texans: Ed Thomas S Texas
21. Bengals: Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma
22. Patriots: Terrance Cody DT Alabama
23. Packers: Brian Bulaga OT Iowa
24. Eagles: Sean Weatherspoon LB Missouri
25. Ravens: Arthur Jones DT Syracuse
26. Cardinals: Jason Pierre Paul USF
27. Cowboys: Mike Lupati G Idaho
28. Chargers: Jonathan Dwyer RB Georgia Tech
29. Jets: Arrelious Benn WR Illinois
30. Vikings: Jerry Hughes LB TCU
31. Colts: Tim Tebow QB Florida
The Colts will take a chance on Tim Tebow as he will learn the proper mechanics of what it takes to be an NFL starting QB from one of the all time greatest QBs, Peyton Manning
32. Saints: Ricky Sapp LB Clemson

Chiefs will take Berry.
They don’t need a LT.
Umm…yea they do.

umm no we don't we need a Center
We will continue to be a Zone Blocking team like we were for the last 8 games you know where Albert played pretty much lights out. He is a great LT in a ZB scheme and we have bigger needs than upgrading our G position at pick number 5.
The first 3 picks of the draft will be defense. Pioli loves him some defense.

Haha just ignore him.
All he does is post one-liners full of sarcasm and douchebaggery to make himself feel smarter. He never offers statistical analysis to back up what he says. To be perfectly honest, I think he has a man crush on darwithabar and since he hasn’t been here in awhile he needs a new Chiefs fan to be a bitch too.

You have never posted anything intelligent on this site. All you have done is insult people. And when you insult someone’s mock, you don’t understand the rule that if you call someone else’s dumb, then you better have a better one.

Can you blame him for thinking we need a LT? I cant. Albert gave up 9 sacks this year. He doesnt follow the Chiefs, He has no idea how he played the last 8 games. Instead of calling people Douche Bags, just let him know. Or argue with him and bach it into his skull that Albert is fine, just dont cuss, youll get kicked bro.
by darwithabar on Feb 24, 2010 12:56 AM EST up reply actions
Obviously you don't know that if you give up over forty sacks that you must get a new LT.
Apparently it is a rule or something. Your old LT, no matter who it is, gets moved to the weakest postion in your line or benched and all your problems are solved.

You might not like the Seahawks
but you can probably find ways to insult them that don’t involve sexist, racial or homophobic slurs. I understand that you are probably frustrated at having your butt handed to you by a 4-12 or 5-11 team year after year, but you can find other ways to diss us without being offensive to innocent bystanders.
And there is no way that Trent Williams is the second best OT in the draft (especially for a team that needs a LT).
Meh...
really, the only DE the Giants shall be drafing in round one is Derrick Morgan, cuz he’s got that Justin Tuck pass/run balance.
Everson Griffen? Nah…he’s basically Carlos Dunlap except faster and not as big (and no DUI). He’s an underachiever.
2nd round? Maybe.
Wow..another draft with Brian Price not in round one? Nah. Give him at #15 then we’re OK
Unless that is…since your a Rams fan…and you make Price there at #33.
Funny.

Haden would be the choice, not Dunlap

This looks like a need-only draft, rather than BAP

ummm Tebow to Indy doesn't really fit that
though imo it doesn’t fit BPA either.

The Colts are in dicussion with The Chiefs. Word is Peyton is on his way to the Chiefs for future draft picks. Word is its a 5th right now but it could be escalated to a 4th if he plays well.:)

There is no way in hell...
that Polian will take Tebow.

zero chance
The Colts aren’t burning a 1st rounder during the latter portion of Peyton’s prime on a player that won’t be ready for years. The Colts are trying to get back to the Super Bowl, Tebow is 0 help in that. The Colts are one of only a couple teams that never tried any wildcat stuff. NO TEBOW!
Brian Price and Charles Brown are WAAAAAAAAY better picks for Indy.

He'll at least be better than Curtis Painter
The 2010 New York Mets: Maybe it's the Phillies' turn to have 95% of its roster on the DL
The 2009 New England Patriots: At least we got our division title back
The 2009-10 New Jersey Devils: Allergic to second periods
and you'd spend a 1st rounder to upgrade your 3rd/developmental QB?

Never said I would.
And believe me, I wouldn’t.
Of course, Tebow could be picked later in the draft by the Colts (hey, there’s the old adage that "Anything is possible).

But that old adage has it's limits.
Sure, it’s possible that the sun could explode and wipe out all life on Earth within the next 20 minutes, but we all know that it’s not happening.
Same situation here, and I’d put the odds about the same too.

No way in hell the pats pick Cody.
Plus I’m hoping the raiders pick Anthony Davis.
Other than that, Brandon Graham or Sergio Kindle are our likely picks(according to us) with our first round pick. We don’t need a DT in the first. Especially Cody.
damn you
you have a lot of the same ideas that i am putting in my mock right now….

When was Tebow converted to LT?
‘cause the Colts need that WAY more than another developmental QB. And even though Polian is known to draft BPA over need, I don’t see that Tebow is BPA at #31.
How can you not love a team that does this?
Tebow at #31?
Doesn’t fit the Colts needs and more importantly their wants. Next time put a little thought into their pick. It might help making a smart decision =)

Why would we pick a developmental quarterback
in the first round? What’s the purpose of that? Give us Brown who can actually help us now.

We don't need Tebow
giving Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Dwight Freeney inspiration speeches at halftime; that ain’t gonna cut it in the NFL…
Peyton Manning makes it Wayne on them hoes!!!!
Yeah and the last thing we need
Amidst the sea of Coors Light and GoDaddy commercials is a player sponsored by the Focus on the Family, or something like that.

Really, Tebow @ 31, really?!
Did you watch the Super Bowl?!?! The Colts need an O-line more than some project. The Colts want to win the Super Bowl and they want to do it now. Also, if Tebow’s still there at 31, there’s at least 10 other guys worthy of the that pick. Polian will use the BPA policy—Best Player Available— and Tebow won’t be it.
Peyton Manning makes it Wayne on them hoes!!!!
Some explanations needed
Is Morgan an OLB or DE in Cleveland’s 3-4 defense? Same questions about Pierre-Paul, and Sapp, although Saints play a 4-3.
As a Giants fan, would not like Griffen in the 1st round. Not sure Cody goes to the Pats when they drafted Brace last year. But I like Jones to Baltimore. A lot of their DEs are getting old.
You people don’t know what you’re talking about. Tebow to the Colts is a pretty smart move in my opinion. I’ve already said this before, but you know what you’re getting fromt Tebow day one — a hard working, team player, with a lot of playing experience on the big stage, and a great leader. Everything you’d want in a QB. Obviously his mechanics need a bit of sharpening, but who cares? He won’t be starting right off of the bat and the Colts need to start looking towards life without Peyton, because believe it or not, that day is inevitable.
The chances of the Colts first round pick having a huge impact as a rookie isn’t exactly a given. Even if the Colts did draft Charles Brown, I don’t see him being a start from day one. The Colts would be stupid to let Charlie Johnson go. I mean, he was apart of an offensive line that gave up only 10 sacks during the regular season, a record low in Peyton’s career.
CJ isn’t going anywhere, and for the most part I expect the offensive line to stay intact for at least one more year. If the Colts spent a first round pick on a WR or a RB, then I think you could all start bitching and saying how stupid it is. Everything else in my opinion, is fair game.
There's a new blog in town, the 12th HorseMan.
And before someone calls me a Florida/Tebow homer, just think about it for a second. The Colts could utilize his abilities and play a bit of situational football for once. Playing him in possible second and short situations and run an option, or a QB keeper, or something like that to make up for the down right horrible short yardage run game the Colts have.
/just saying
There's a new blog in town, the 12th HorseMan.
short yardage was one of the running games' few above average features
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol
the issue is that they got stuffed too often and didn’t break big plays.
and no situational package that excludes Peyton gives you a better chance to convert than one that includes him.

Tim Tebow
Why would a team use thier 1st round pick to have him sit the bench for who knows how long (atleast 3 seasons before Manning retires, ATLEAST). Not even mention the problems with his mechanics.
