Tebow won't throw at combine
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has decided to not throw during combine workouts. He will wait until Florida's March 17 pro day.
Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen and Dan LeFevour have also said they will not throw in Indianapolis. Colt McCoy, coming off a nerve injury in his shoulder, will attempt to throw.
Tebow has been working with Marc Trestman, a former NFL quarterbacks coach. Trestman told Schefter that Tebow's release has become quicker. If Tebow has a shot at making it as a quarterback in the pros, that is a necessity.
But who could benefit the most from all these quarterbacks not throwing? Jevan Snead. While Snead should have returned for his senior year at Mississippi, don't be surprised to see him light up Indianapolis and ascend on draft boards.

At least he's got a good reason
Throwing at the combine will only hurt what little draft stock he has. Taking steps towards making his release quicker is priority #1 for him.

So what round
do you think he will get drafted?
I see him as a second day pick – someone will take a flyer on him.

id say he is taken late 2nd at earliest but probably in the early to mid 3rd round.

Is that a team
trading into the late second or one of last year’s playoffs teams taking him?

Tebow
Tebow’s a fourth round pick at best. He’s a H-BACK or TE in the NFL.. If a team selects Tebow any higher than the third round that personnel guy or GM could be in jeopardy of losing their job (exception if the owner runs the personnel department). You want production (immediately from your 2nd round pick) and Tebow will not be in a position to provide any. There seems to be a lot of emotion invovled when evaluating Tim Tebow. You don’t use a 1st or 2nd round pick on developmental players.
And for those calling for Tebow to be drafted as a Wildcat QB early, he lacks the suddenness and overall playing speed to be effective as a Wildcat QB at the NFL level ala Pat White or Brad Smith of the New York Jets.

To play Wildcat
QB in the NFL, you have to have speed, like you said. Something Tebow lacks.

Josh Cribbs and Ronnie Brown are the best examples of Wildcat QBs. They have to think like a RB, not a QB.

Some team with a Good young starting QB (Pitt, NE, Chicago, Dallas, NYG Ect)
Will take him in the 3-4th round and hope he develops. If not, they play him as an H-Back and just roll with it

Video.
Have you guys seen the video of his reworked mechanics and footwork? It already looks like he is lightyears ahead of where he was just a few weeks back at the Senior Bowl. If he can throw at the UF Pro Day, then I think his slow start may prove to be a benefit in that his learning curve would have been amazingly fast…

Yes
I’m thinking if he throws like that on his pro day, he will be a first rounder.
Let’s face it. If he had a good throwing motion, accuracy, and velocity on the ball, Tim Tebow would absolutely the #1 overall pick in this draft.
I am deeply impressed by Tebow’s work on his throwing skills since the Sugar Bowl. We saw some improvement by the time of the Senior Bowl. Now, in that video, he looks like a 1st round draft pick.
This is a guy that some team will take a chance on.

Even
If he had good velocity, accuracy, throwing motion, etc. I’d still take Clausen first. I’d definitely take him before Bradford though.

I cant see this video but I did see a clip on ESPN with a side by side clip of his arm motion then, and now. The old shows him dropping the ball down to his wasit, and the new shows him keeping the ball up by his shoulder.
I really dont understand why it is so hard to change the way you throw the ball or why people question whether he can do it. The real question to me would be; can he do it in a game, clearly you can learn how to throw the right way and even make an effort to throw that way in a game but obviosly you cannot be effective in the NFL thinking about your mechanics, so can these mechanics become second nature?
Even if his mechanics were sound, can he handle faster defenses with complex coverages? This question goes to all college QB’s.

I didnt see any velocity in either clip. And don’t forget he still hasnt learned to take a snap. What makes this guy any better than the top ranked high school QB (that is a true QB) right now?
Hell yeah Tim
Thats my boy. Cant wait to see him shut Todd Mcshay’s fat face up.

He isn’t that good as an NFL prospect, but you said shut Todd McShay up so I love the comment!

Do he and Dan LeFeuver really think they have played good enough not to throw?

Combine Participation
The fact that Tebow and Lefevour have made the decision to skip the throwing portion of the NFL Scouting Combine speaks (to me) about the lack of competitive spirit and personel confidence (they believe they don’t have it). Scouts and GM’s will be taking this (lack of participation) into consideration when draft day approaches. If your are not injured, why not throw if your are there? Some of these kids get poor advice from their agents. Marginal talents like Lefevour and Tebow should participate in all the drills.
It’s a charade and a feeble attempt to stop their sinking draft stock from plunging any further. We/I want to see ALL the QB’s throw the football who are invited and show up. Show you’re capable of making all the throws on the NFL passing tree at the combine. Participate or vacate.
Disagree for that on Tebow
Right now he has already shown he has a bunch to work on at the Senior Bowl. Why hurt his stock further? Throwing at the Combine before he is ready just plummets his stock further. He has his Pro Day to show scouts why he will be successful. LeFevour I agree though, he’s already a 4th round prospect, why not take the chance to lift your stock unless you have something to hide.

Tebow
He is going to throw at the Gator pro day. Seems reasonable to want a little extra time to prepare for possibly one of the biggest “practices” of your life. So whats your problem?

Calling BS
I am not a college football fan so feel free to correct me… But is anyone else calling BS on the concept that they never worked on his mechanics in college? It seems like one of those throwaway lines that’s either too stupid or too irresponsible to be true. He had 4 years, 4 summers and they never worked on his rather glaring motion? If everybody’s right about his intangibles, and he picks up this new motion in a few weeks, then somebody cost this kid about 40 million dollars. Last I heard, before the season, they brought somebody and were gonna run more pro sets. My at a glimpse analysis: he probably loses velocity, accuracy or both when he shortens his motion.
well hell, it worked in college.

No
Never during his career has he spent his entire days, weeks, months on just his throwing motion. University of Florida isnt a minor league football team, thier job isnt to get players ready for the NFL. Its to win.

That's kinda a scary thought...
So the kids are there for the college instead of the college being there for the kids, huh? Last I checked colleges were supposed to prepare students as best as possible to succeed in their chosen professions. So they win, make loads of money off the backs of the labors of Tebow and kids like him, the ratio of which would probably makes the cost of their tuition look like sweatshop money, and who gives a crap about his future, right? NCAA is pathetic.
Nobody makes the kids play football
And yes a college team should want thier kids to succeed but your arguement is to want the entire team to forget about winning and focus on Tebows mechanics. Now you are contradicting yourself, players like Hernadez and Coopers NFL career will now be spared because Tebow needs to get into the 1st round.
