Mike Holmgren and Eric Mangini are reportedly not fans of Brady Quinn, so Cleveland might be looking at the Oklahoma quarterback.

Could this just be a plan...

…in order to generate interest in their draft pick? If some team thinks that Bradford (and presumably Clausen) will be gone, will they overvalue and trade up to the Browns’ slot?

Don't see a point in it, if so.

With very real possibilities of Clausen and Bradford going to Washington (4th) and Seattle (6th), teams desperate to move up for either QB would talk to those teams or maybe KC at five, not Cleveland.

Now if either one falls past Seattle on draft day, then the Browns will be busy. But they would’ve been fielding all kinds of calls regardless of this story.

If you want people who are interested in QBs to call you

you probably shouldn’t act like you’re interested in the same guy. Those teams are now going to try to trade to the position ahead of you to keep you from picking the guy they want. If Cleveland wants everyone interested in that pick, they should spread a rumor that the Raiders are really interested in Bradford… because NFL GMs all believe second-hand rumors, of course.

I’m hoping real hard that this all just a smokescreen. If not, I might cry on draft day. We don’t need yet another big name, inexperienced QB. We’ve got plenty.
