A quick mock. (1st round for now, may add 2nd or 3rd later)

I figure I'm the only one here who hasn't thrown together a mock, so here's my take on it...

1. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Clausen, QB Notre Dame

This is obviously the most hotly contested pick in the draft, it's down between Clausen and Suh for most people. While Suh is just about the perfect specimen for a college athlete and is the closest thing to bust-proof we've seen in a long while, I just can't see the Rams passing up the best QB in the draft after that debacle they had at the most important position in the game this year. Besides, I don't think the Rams want to pay the biggest sum of money in the draft to a Defensive Tackle.

2. Detroit Lions - Ndamukong Suh, DT Nebraska

As I said before, Suh is probably the best player in the entire draft at any position. No matter the fact that the Lions need help at Left Tackle, if they can get Suh, they'll instantly have a huge presence on their D, which they could certainly use. If Suh escapes the top 2, I'll be shocked.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gerald McCoy, DT Oklahoma

The 2nd best DT in the draft isn't too far behind Suh in terms of skill, but the Buccaneers might be kicking themselves for winning so many games late in the season to remove themselves from the Suh sweepstakes. With him gone, they'll still get a great DT in McCoy. He will instantly improve the Bucs line and instantly make the Bucs a lot more scary to play. Considering they need upgrades all over the place on the defense, that's a good place to start!

4. Washington Redskins - Russell Okung, OT Oklahoma State

A lot of mocks have a QB going to the Redskins but I think that if Clausen is gone, Bradford might fall a little due to his spread offense history and shoulder problems, including the Redskins. The O-Line for the Redskins was one of the worst in the NFL last season, and every good line starts with a monster Left Tackle. Okung is most certainly the best one around in this draft.

5. Kansas City Chiefs - Eric Berry, S Tennessee

This is an interesting pick. The Chiefs need a franchise LT badly, but if Okung is off the board they might need to trade down if that is their first priority. If not, they'll most likely go with the best DB in the draft. Eric Berry is being compared to Ed Reed, not bad for a 5th pick. Anything else the Chiefs take could be a reach, so I think they'll either settle for Berry (Not a bad thing to settle for!) or trade down and get one of the plethora of Tackles later in the first round.

6. Seattle Seahawks - Sam Bradford, QB Oklahoma

The Seahawks have 3 picks in the first two rounds, which I think they will take an LT, a RB and a QB in to start the rebuilding of their offense. They haven't had a real running game since their Superbowl year and Matt H. is getting old and losing his flair fast. Pete Carroll will want his guy at QB and since there is a definite drop off in QB talent after Bradford yet plenty of LT's and RB's, he will probably roll the dice on Sam.

7. Cleveland Browns - Joe Haden, CB Florida

The Browns need a QB, but Clausen and Bradford are already gone here. They also need some O-Line, but Okung is already gone. Either they will reach for Bruce Campbell or Anthony Davis or they can bump up their secondary immensely instead with Joe Haden. Not a bad pick, but I wouldn't be surprised if a QB is theirs should Clausen or Bradford fall to them. A possible future shutdown corner certainly wouldn't hurt the Browns either, especially in the newly pass-heavy AFC North!

8. Oakland Raiders - Bruce Campbell, OT Maryland

Oakland will finally make a good draft-day decision in the first round for the first time in years! The O-Line isn't nearly good enough to handle the somewhat mediocre offense that it's supposed to be supporting, perhaps Al Davis will think that said mediocre offense will do better under a stronger line? I think this is actually a little high for Bruce Campbell with his injury history, but he is plenty athletic and we all know that's what Al loves in a guy.

9. Buffalo Bills - Rolando McClain, ILB Alabama

If Jimmy Clausen falls down to here somehow, they'll probably take him. If not, they will most likely either snag Anthony Davis or start to build the front 7 of their new 3-4 defense. Rolando McClain is certainly the best player left on the board in this situation, and with Maybin, Schobel, Mitchell and Poz has the potential to create quite the frightening LB tandem! There is also a chance they trade down to get Dan Williams or another Nose Tackle.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Tim Tebow, QB Florida

Let me elaborate, I hate this pick with the fury of a million suns. I think that Tebow is getting twice the press he deserves considering his NFL potential is so unknown at the moment. We've all heard about that report saying that at least 2 GM's had said they were not letting Tebow escape past them in the 1st round, I have to believe that Jacksonville is one of those teams with the problems they've had with attendance and whatnot. I think it's an incredibly stupid pick but I would not at all be surprised if it happened.

11. Denver Broncos -  Dez Bryant, WR Oklahoma State

This is going on the assumption that Brandon Marshall does not in fact come back to Denver next season, which will leave them with no true #1 for whoever is QBing them to throw to. Williams is an elite route runner and has good hands, just what you look for in a #1. He might not be the next Marshall but he'll certainly be the best option they have. If Marshall stays in Denver, they might go NT or ILB here.

12. Miami Dolphins - Dan Williams, DT Tennessee

They could go ILB but McClain is gone. They need a new #1 WR (and how!), but Parcells isn't known for drafting those early. In that case, they can get the best NT in the draft, Dan Williams. Of the teams running the 3-4 in the AFC East, they probably have the weakest NT group of the bunch. (Discounting the newly 3-4'd Bills of course.) Dan Williams could move that D from pretty good to scary good.

13. San Fransisco 49ers -Trent Williams, OT Oklahoma

The 49er's have a pretty good offense but have a large black hole where the RT should usually be. Trent Williams has been pegged as a very good tackle prospect with very little potential to be a LT. The 9ers might jump on the Williams bandwagon for that reason.

14. Seattle Seahawks - Anthony Davis - OT Rutgers

The Seahawks' great LT Walter Jones has announced that he's retired via twitter, so one of the picks in the first has to go towards a new LT, they can worry about their running back issue later. Davis has been shooting up draft boards recently, and will be a great pick up for the Hawks. He may not be the next Walter Jones, but even half a Walter Jones will be better than the alternative of nothing.

15. New York Giants - Brian Price, DT UCLA

A lot of the blame for that failure of a year can be put on some weaknesses in the D-Line and Secondary of the Giants. Brian Price is another guy who has been slowly climbing draft boards all year and is projected by some to be a top-10 pick this year. I wouldn't go that far with him since not all that many teams in the top 10 will find a 4-3 DT to be that high of a priority, but he will do wonders for that Giants line.

16. Tennessee Titans - Derrick Morgan, DE Georgia Tech

I've actually seen a few mocks give the Titans a WR here to help out the newly awesome Vince Young, but I think that the Titans had bigger problems than that last year, one big one was their pass rush. Morgan is being drafted top 10 in some drafts, so if he manages to fall to 16 somehow the Titans will snatch him up without a thought.

17. San Fransisco 49ers - Donovan Warren, CB Michigan

CB is the other big need for the 49ers but with Haden gone they can wait until their 2nd pick of the 1st round to take the next best thing, Donovan Warren. Warren had great numbers his few years at Michigan, and has perhaps the potential to be the new #1 CB in San Fran quickly.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Earl Thomas, FS Texas

Watching the Steelers play without Troy in their secondary was almost saddening. The Steelers obviously need a good solid guy back there to either assist or replace Troy if he gets injured again. You can almost blame the entire debacle of a season they just saw in Pittsburgh on that one injury!

19. Atlanta Falcons - Brandon Ghee, CB Wake Forest

Ghee is be a bit of a stretch here as he's usually billed as a late first-early second rounder. The Falcons desperately need a cornerback though, and if they don't take one in the first round they could be out of luck later on at finding a guy for themselves.

20. Houston Texans - Terrence Cody, DT Alabama

The Texans need a help in the secondary more than anything but with pretty much anyone worth mentioning in the 1st round out of the picture the Texans will need to focus on another need, namely getting a big NT to anchor that defense. Cody's draft stock might fall after that weight debacle at the Senior Bowl, but he's no doubt the 2nd best Nose Tackle on the board at this point and the Texans will take it.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Arrelious Benn, WR Illinois

The death of Chris Henry was both tragic and made the Bengals lose one of their few options opposite of Mr. OchoCinco to throw to. Priority number 1 for the Bengals needs to be a new WR to play second fiddle to Chad.

22. New England Patriots - CJ Spiller, RB Clemson

The running back roulette that has gone through New England the past few years is starting to wear thin as they can't seem to get any semblance of a consistent running game going some weeks. A "home run hitter" like Spiller can finally give them a go-to guy and perhaps cut down on the 500-back rotation they seem to use all the time.

23. Green Bay Packers - Bryan Bulaga, OT Iowa

It's between Bulaga and Charles Brown at this point, I think the Packers will go with the more NFL-ready Bulaga. Aaron Rodgers wasn't doing nearly as bad behind his line later into last season but Offensive Line picks will still have to come early and often for the Packers. Imagine Godgers behind a great O-Line... scary, eh?

24. Philadelphia Eagles - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE USF

The Defensive Line is one of the more pressing needs for the Eagles and 2 good prospects are left for them in Pierre-Paul and Carlos Dunlap. After the DUI and laziness problems I can't see Dunlap going in the first round so the Eagles will go with Pierre-Paul.

25. Baltimore Ravens - Jermaine Gresham, TE Oklahoma

Joe Flacco better hope that Derrick Mason doesn't retire because if he does, Captain Unibrow will have less than nothing to throw to next season. Look for a WR and a TE in the first couple rounds, Gresham is the best Tight end on the board and if he manages to escape to the 25th pick he'll probably not escape the claws of the Ravens.

26. Arizona Cardinals - Jerry Hughes, OLB TCU

The Cardinals did it with Defense a lot this year but have an aging group of Linebackers that could use an infusion of talent. Hughes was a monster at TCU and may just outperform all his peers at 3-4OLB his rookie year!

27. Dallas Cowboys - Charles Brown, OT USC

Flozell Adams is starting to lose his flair and is getting old, the Cowboys need help at NT and ILB, but there is nobody worth reaching to get in the first round left at those positions so they may take Charles Brown, one of the few decent LT prospects left worth anything.

28. San Diego Chargers - Brandon LeFell, WR LSU

This is a strange pick, I have no idea what to give to the team that already has just about everything it needs. A lot of mocks have the Chargers getting a WR, and LeFell could be a great addition to that already dangerous passing attack the Chargers have built. They could also go RB, Safety, etc. here.

29. New York Jets - Golden Tate, WR Notre Dame

Sanchez exceeded the expectations set upon him his rookie year, but had quite a few problems - not the least of them named "Braylon 'stonehands' Edwards." Give him a new toy to play with and he'll be fine. If they handle WR in free agency, they will probably take a DE.

30. Minnesota Vikings - Jared Odrick, DT/DE Penn State

The Vikings have just about everything, but they could use depth on the defensive line. Odrick is the very definition of depth all over the D-line, and could evolve into the DT of the future for them. If Brett Favre winds up retiring (for realz this time!) they might stretch up and take Jevean Snead, Colt McCoy or another 2nd tier QB.

31. Indianapolis Colts - Brandon Spikes, ILB Florida

The Colts desperately need a new LT, but all the LT candidates worth their salt are gone by this point. They can get a big ILB with Brandon Spikes instead, although I think this might be a bit high for him.

32. New Orleans Saints - Greg Hardy DE, Ole Miss.

Saints fans will be thrilled that their pick is this low for sure! They can go several ways here, I think they might get a potential steal with Greg Hardy. They could also get an OLB.
