Mock of Teal 3.0

My mock draft as of 2/28/10. Since I dislike predicting trades in mocks, let me just say what I think is a real possibility which is the Chargers trade the Jaguars, who are clearly looking to trade back, some of their draft picks for the Jags 1st round pick in order to select RB CJ Spiller since they've let all their RBs walk. Now, here's my mock.

Star-divide

1. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame

2. Detroit Lions - Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers -Gerald Mccoy, DT, Oklahoma

4. Washington Redskins -Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State

5. Kansas City Chiefs -Eric Berry, S, Tennessee

6. Seattle Seahawks -Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma

7. Cleveland Browns - Joe Haden, CB, Florida

8. Oakland Raiders -Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland

9. Buffalo Bills -Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

10. Jacksonville Jaguars -Rolando Mcclain, MLB, Alabama

11. Denver Broncos - Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee

12. Miami Dolphins - Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State

13. San Francisco 49ers - Earl Thomas, S/CB, Texas

14. Seattle Seahawks - Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers

15. New York Giants - Brian Price, DT, UCLA

16. Tennessee Titans - Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech

17. San Francisco 49ers - CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson

18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Mike Iupati, G, Idaho

19. Atlanta Falcons - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF

20. Houston Texans - Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma

22. New England Patriots - Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas

23. Green Bay Packers - Charles Brown, OT, USC

24. Philadelphia Eagles - Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan

25. Baltimore Ravens - Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame

26. Arizona Cardinals - Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU

27. Dallas Cowboys - Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma

28. San Diego Chargers - Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State

29. New York Jets - Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech

30. Minnesota Vikings - Donovan Warren, CB, Michigan

31. Indianapolis Colts - Everson Griffen, DE, USC

32. New Orleans Saints - Sean Witherspoon, OLB. Missouri

As always, comments about how a pick was good or how it could be improved, is totally welcomed. If you need any rationale for some of these picks, just ask. Thanks for reading this mock!

good as always and I do appreciate the McClain for Jaguars pick

He’s the BPA pick, and he would give us a LB who can cover and attack.

do you think theyll be any surprises now the combine results are being analyzed by NFl teams? Maybe the Jaguars trade back, picking up Haden (whose value will probably fall heavily) and still get some of “original” 1st round talent in the second? I do wish the jaguars could get McClain, all signs are pointing to a defense heavy draft for us

by jawsaints on Mar 2, 2010 9:43 PM EST up reply actions

I think we'll see 1 or two guys fall out of the top 10

that have been mocked to go in the top 10 for months now.

I think Haden will stay in the top 10 unless Earl Thomas really can play CB/S.

I’d trade back in the last first round and get Brandon Graham or someone with value.

Ideally Indy could get OL

but with the top 7 O-linemen gone, I think the 8th (Pouncey) is too much of a reach when there’s a 1st round quality DE who can play run downs and rush well enough to backup Freeney/Mathis

Depends on the WR

Ill take Tate, Thomas, or Benn

Why Not

Isn’t tight end your biggest need other than safety? Gresham could bring some flare back to your once elite passing game.

Gresham’s injury is going to hurt him. He is going to have to have one hell of a pro day to jump back in the first round in my opinion. Be a great pick in the 2nd though for any team.

You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

by Mr MaLoR on Mar 1, 2010 11:38 PM EST up reply actions

I don't think

I would be surprised to see Gresham go to the Bengals.
Yeah you don’t use the TE a lot, but that’s because you don’t have one healthy of note. And I know they’ve tried to address the position for a while now. It’s unlikely they get another OT, but the pass blocking still seems to lack something, so TE could be that something that gives that passing the boost it needs. And in a way it also lessens the need at WR, like Dallas Clark did with Indy after Anthony Gonzales got hurt.(Before the young guys got better)
As for his injury, for now, the knee seems fine when performing at the combine. I wouldn’t worry about it basically.

by Ewdtrey on Mar 3, 2010 2:47 AM EST up reply actions

we dont use TEs

And they have to be able to block to play for us, not that Gresham is a bad blocker, but there are way better in this draft

Sigh, Tate again.

Poor you.

by TheRealSlimShady on Mar 2, 2010 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

That's a very reasonable mock

I don’t think Dwyer goes in the 1st. I would predict mid to late 2nd for him.

The Rams might take Clausen but currently all the buzz and momentum has Bradford or Suh going in that spot. I predict it will be Bradford (I know, real bold prediction).

Overall, nice job.

by Toddius on Mar 2, 2010 10:18 AM EST reply actions

I predict that

Dwyer falls hard on draft day. Maybe to the top of the 3rd.

by Ewdtrey on Mar 3, 2010 2:48 AM EST up reply actions

Good job for the Vikes.

I’m not convinced that Warren,Cox, Wilson, Robinson, Franks, and McCauley all are not about equal CBs and none are deserving of a first round grade. But if you have one rated as Super and a 1st rounder then I won’t question it. If the Vikes didn’t take Warren I would take either Weatherspoon or Griffen that you have available immediately behind them.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

Beautiful 11 pick

I always wanted Williams, and I wanted him to justify the 11th pick in the draft. Fact is he is the best NT in the draft. The only problem could be if Bufffalo takes him at 9

Suh to the Lions

Take it!

You raise a good point

if they feel that Washington is still good after that gruesome injury.
