Denver Broncos team needs
The Denver Broncos missed the playoffs again last season after a major collapse. I think the Broncos exceeded expectations early in the season which set them up for their fall. This offseason began with a change at the defensive coordinator position and question marks surrounding star wide out Brandon Marshall. However, wide receiver is not the only position needing to be addressed.
1. Nose Tackle
- The nose tackle position is fast becoming one of the most important in football. There are a lot of teams switching to the 3-4 and having a big lineman eating nose tackle is essential. Ronnie Fields performed ok but for this defense to take a step forward they need to find a pro bowl type nose tackle. At pick #11 someone like Dan Williams could be an option.
2. Wide Receiver
- It’s almost a guarantee that Brandon Marshall is traded and with the sophomore slump of Eddie Royal, wide receiver becomes a position of need. The Broncos could possible look at Dez Bryant at pick #11 but more than likely look for them to address the position in the later rounds.
3. Defensive End
- Kenny Peterson is serviceable but long term upgrades are needed on both sides of the defensive line. Hopefully Coach McDaniel’s offensive history doesn’t lead to neglect on the defensive side of the ball.

Here's my list as a Broncos fan
1. C: we just cut our starting C, and now we only have one on our roster but he (Dustin Fry) is more of a backup. This is a top priority.
2: LG: No one on the roster could fill this pos effectivley. We r hopin Seth Olsen, OG, Iowa from 4th roound last yr, can step in here, but it if not it should be upgraded.
3: DE: We have a bunch of average guys who are better suited as role players here, except McBean has potential to be a solid starter. We should get at least one new starter here.
4: NT: Same reasons as u said
Those are the only needs I see the Broncos NEED to address. We can live with the WR’s we have right now, even if BMarsh leavs, and in a weak QB class, we dont have to draft a QB of the future.
The Broncos should think about Dline first, I seemed to remember their front seven getting exposed down the stretch. Interior offensive linemen can be found in mid to late rounds.
Needs v. Picks.
You don’t necessarily have to address your “#1” need in the first round, the next one in the second round and so on. The Broncos most glaring needs are C, G and then DL. That said, it’d be surprising to see them go after the interior lineman first…

I dont understand why you posted this as a response to me
I said they should think Dline in the first , because interior linemen are available in mid rounds. Do you disagree or are you just rewriting want I already said?
Yes but when you dont hav a player at each spot
You have to adress it. I believe both will be addressed in FA, but until then those are the most pressing needs and thats a fact, DL is nowhere near as improtant. You can bring up the same argument for the interior OL as we couldnt pick up a 2nd or 3rd and short for our lives, and that killed us
I didnt say Dline was their number one need
(Personally I think their number one need is a QB)
I said they should look in that direction with their number one pick. Please read a post before you reply to it.
Bronco Fan Here.
I completely agree with you regarding nose tackle being our #1 need. However, I disagree with you after that. Here you go:
1. NT
2. Interior O-Line
3. ILB
4. WR
5. TE
6. P
Disagree
1. OG
1a. C
2. NT
3. WR
4. DE
Denver’s offense was anemic last year, and not because of their WR’s. The worst part of this team was the run blocking, and especially on the interior. Stopping the run was also an issue. If B-Marsh is traded, I would welcome a Dan Williams pick with open arms in the first, along with a guy like Iupati. Two beasts to fit needs at the top, then you can move Seth Olsen over to C.
Bills need to build their 3-4 defense
I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
Brandon Marshall isn't going to get traded
unless Denver gets back 5 first-round picks and a case of 30-year old scotch. Or at least that’s what I’ve been hearing.
I don’t want to get in this discussion, but if the Broncos want to make it in the playoffs or make it far in the playoffs they should upgrade at QB.

Didn't you hear?
Orton is a “franchise QB” (who just happened to be benched for Rex Grossman a season or two ago).
Seriously?
I won’t even dignify that with indignation…

Well...
I’m not sure how many QBs in this draft would be upgrades over Orton. even if I wasn’t concerned by Bradford’s injury history and Clausen’s lack of intangibles plus mediocre resume, I doubt either will be on the board by the time we pick. After that, everyone looks like a project or simply not worth it. What would you have them do? By the way, I still think that Orton can lead a team to a Super Bowl win…

Please explain why you aren’t sold on Clausen. You sound like Todd McShay.

This is too logical
The fact that most Broncos fans dont even list QB as a need proves they are living in some opium induced haze.
Orton
Compared to other positions for the broncos QB isn’t really a need. At least not a top 5. Center is a big need right now, as is left guard. But I think NT is the biggest. The reason the Broncos didn’t make the playoffs is because of 26th Run D that allowed the raiders and chiefs to run over us not Orton. Orton really did not play bad at all. Especially not bad enough to warrant a change at the position. If the Broncos had a run D they could have been 10 – 6 very easily. Orton got big wins against good teams like the Pats, Chargers, Dallas, G men and close calls with Philly and Indy. The run D just got worn out in the second half of the year.
Team Needs:
1) Nose Tackle
2) Center
3) Left Guard
4) Defensive End
5) Inside Linebacker
6) Wide Receiver (moved up if Marshall’s traded)
QB is always a need when you dont have one
Either a teams has a good one, or a team is developing one they think will be good. Or both. I dont think the Broncos fit in either category, but I agree that their front seven was the reason they were exposed down the stretch.
Orton is more than adequate
Orton is a good QB. he is by no means a great QB but good QB run teams can be successful. But a good QB can only be successful if he has an above average D (which the Broncos don’t have in the run D department), a good running game (which the broncos have in Moreno but they need help at guard and center to allow him to run), and good WR (which the Broncos have but would be lacking if Marshall is traded). You don’t need a great QB to do well in the NFL (although it doesn’t hurt).
WR.
You simply CANNOT assume that Marshall is done in Denver. Maybe you could put the position in as a bonus with the caveat that it’d move up if Brandon does leave…
