3 Round Mock 2.0 (Updated 3/12)

I really appreciate all the comments on the last mock. I read all of them and in many cases changed the mock because of them. Any further comments would also be appreciated.

Also, please don't just say you don't like a pick, please give a suggestion of one or a few players you would like to see at that pick instead.

Quick note on Jimmy Clausen: I'm not alone in thinking he's not an elite QB: MoveTheSticks (a former Ravens and Browns scout) doesn't like him and ESPN.com's Scout's Inc. has him as the 38th overall prospect, giving him a grade of 88. He could go high, but I don't think it is too out of the realm of possibility that he may fall.

I love our picks this time except the last one I would of taken Donovan Warren. Even if you are projecting Haden as a CB I think we will take another CB in the first 3-4 rounds.

I like the Lions picks

I can't think of a good sig to put here

by JazzyBBP on Mar 13, 2010 12:32 AM EST reply actions

I like the picks.

I wouldn’t mind weatherspoon if OT are gone. Still may take McCourty instead.

Also although as a player I do like Jared Veldheer I would take Jason Fox over Veldheer.

by TheAngelsColts on Mar 13, 2010 12:40 AM EST reply actions

Sharpton is a little small for a 3-4 ILB

and there are some more pressing needs, I would go for John Jerry for the Cowboys w/ the 3rd round pick since he is available

by nicholas.rodriguez on Mar 13, 2010 12:43 AM EST reply actions

yes 2 interior lineman in this draft

Kosier our starting LG will be a free agent after this year and Gurode our C will be a FA the year after that so start grooming Oline to take their place

by nicholas.rodriguez on Mar 13, 2010 12:44 AM EST up reply actions

Will people please stop mocking Spiller to the Seahawks?

We have needs everywhere and can get a quality back later. And Brown at 14 is definitely too high. Do you hate the Seattle Seahawks?

Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!

by axel360 on Mar 13, 2010 12:48 AM EST reply actions

nice draft

but give the Eagles RB Ben Tate, Auburn over Anthony Dixon. Dixon’s lack of burst is a problem. The Eagles like speed, and Tate packs it despite his 220 lb frame.

i would cream if we got joe haden and bowman in 1 and 2.

Meh....

still Price and Safford…

at least the position in the 3rd is good. Sean Lee…equally meh.

if you want a suggestion...

1) Sean Weatherspoon
2) Lamarr Houston
3) Chad Jones

Meh, nothing's changed with the Pats.

I like the Kindle pick, again.

Hardesty is a reach in the second round, I feel we can get him in the fourth or trade up to the third. Replace with an OL, strengthening the trenches is more important at this point.

I’d prefer Gilyard over Thomas at WR.

Carrington’s a good pick, but I feel we could get Corey Wootton up there.

The 2010 New York Mets: Maybe it's the Phillies' turn to have 95% of its roster on the DL

The 2009 New England Patriots: At least we got our division title back

The 2009-10 New Jersey Devils: Allergic to second periods

by R_Adragna on Mar 13, 2010 1:14 AM EST reply actions

how did we get joe haden lmao that would be an epic slide in the draft.

by fhqwagads on Mar 13, 2010 2:37 AM EST reply actions

he ran

a 4.6 and measured at 5’11’’ He may not slide if he runs a good time at his pro day, but corner is really the one position where a bad 40 can really really hurt you both in the nfl and in the draft

by jmztitans2 on Mar 13, 2010 2:58 AM EST up reply actions

I mean yeah but still going from a top 10 pick to late first is a little extreme over a 40 time.

by fhqwagads on Mar 13, 2010 6:19 AM EST up reply actions

I dont think the Texans would take Gerhart in the 2nd

I like the Kyle Wilson pick

51 seems high for Gerhart especially with Hardesty still on the board who is said to be a good zone blocking scheme guy, which is what the Texans run. I think the Texans pass on both Hardesty and Gerhart in that situation and take Nate Allen to fill the FS slot next to Bernard Pollard.

If Allen is the 2nd round pick, Jones wont be the 3rd rounder. I bet the Texans would snag Ben Tate or Al Woods in the 3rd.

To all Houston sports fans, Houston is the 4th biggest city in America, there will be traffic on the way to your respective sports game. Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late.

Again, good stuff for the Cards

Some disagree with me on a CB in the second but CB depth is something you can never have enough of IMO.

They are who we thought they were!

by Jessesb on Mar 13, 2010 7:53 AM EST reply actions

Pouncey and Burnett are solid picks, but a big NO to Sharpton.

John Jerry is a much better pick. So is Any of the CBs left. Sharpton is a WILB and we drafted 2 of those last year.

by Flounder69 on Mar 13, 2010 8:11 AM EST reply actions

so

just to make sure, you guys need 2 interior lineman enough to take two in the first three rounds? I’m not critiquing your opinion, just confirming that

by jmztitans2 on Mar 13, 2010 12:05 PM EST up reply actions

Yes.

Every starter on our OL is at least 30 years old. We do not have a single serviceable backup. Pouncey is the replacement for Gurode in the future, but allows us to cut Corey Procter right now. Jerry is the immediate backup for Leonard Davis and possibly Columbo. Allows Free to concentrate on the LT position.

Amen man

I have never thought of clausen as an elite QB

by Thunder64 on Mar 13, 2010 8:21 AM EST reply actions

I’ve read similar things about Clausen: it’s possible he’s just not as liked by “insider” types as he is by mock makers. I sort of get the feeling a major fall for him might depend on what the Seahawks think of him. Every “needs a QB” team at the top of the draft is also a “needs an O-Line team.” The Seahawks are the one team that can take a stab at both. We’ll see, I guess.

Tough to argue with your Vikings mock (Clausen, Houston, Warren). Seal of approval.

by jianfu on Mar 13, 2010 9:02 AM EST reply actions

i think third round Jags are getting Tebow, because we need to sell tickets, and Garrard is getting older(hes 32)atmost he has 4 years left. Thats like Brett Farve and Aaron Rodgers, R

by rhettchrystal on Mar 13, 2010 9:27 AM EST reply actions

Rodgers sat on the bench, and waited his turn, and was morphed into a pretty good QB

by rhettchrystal on Mar 13, 2010 9:28 AM EST up reply actions

Tebow is 6.3(decent size for QB) 240(good size) and can be mobile(like garrard)

by rhettchrystal on Mar 13, 2010 9:32 AM EST reply actions

good draft for the Steelers

I’d just change the 3rd rounder too either Darryl Sharpton or a NT

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

by Steel in FL on Mar 13, 2010 1:00 PM EST reply actions

The Giants

will NOT select Brian Price. They will go LB or DE. If a talented OL like Bulaga falls, they may go there. They may take a chance at Davis if they want.

by Nfpdawg on Mar 13, 2010 1:50 PM EST reply actions

thanks

I’ll change that soon. What do Giants fans think? Wetherspoon or Morgan there?

Hands Down

this is the best Chief mock i have seen very good job

~Im a star n the making just ask about me im soon to be da Chiefs 1st round pick~

by Da Chiefs Guy on Mar 13, 2010 4:03 PM EST reply actions

Golden Tate sure gets mocked to the rams a lot

Even Walter football does it. If we draft Tate I’ll drive to St Louis and slide down the arch using my scrotum as a tether.

by dbcouver on Mar 14, 2010 8:42 AM EDT reply actions

Bills

would be very satisfied for the bills if they took those players, i think tebow would well be worth taking a risk on in the 3rd round because, if the bills don’t make it to the playoffs this year (unlikely) they can go for a top quarterback next year.
