Pretty difficult situation for the Seahawks. They have to play Clausen early because of his contract, but he won’t be prepared as a junior to handle an NFL pass rush when he doesn’t have a good left tackle. Not that I care if the Seahawks don’t do well.

You wanted Colt McCoy? We need a cornerback. We’ve got Favre for 2010.

I just think
He’s going to be something good in the future, and who better to learn from then Brett Favre? I don’t think it’s a guarantee that he’s going to be back tho
by hickenizgriz on Mar 13, 2010 5:22 PM EST up reply actions
Well, maybe you could have talked me into it. I think McCoy will be good, but there are real questions about his durability. We saw him lose feeling and strength in his throwing arm after that hit he took in the BCS Championship Game. That said, McCoy has a lot of talent.
by medicineball on Mar 13, 2010 5:24 PM EST up reply actions
Very true
I’m not disagreeing that we shouldn’t have taken a CB by any means, I just don’t think Colt will be around in the 3rd. Durability has been an issue with T-Jack too tho, so if Favre doesn’t come back, better get used to Sage and I don’t know who our backup would be. Just throwing it out there.
by hickenizgriz on Mar 13, 2010 5:26 PM EST up reply actions
That is good.
Here is my reasoning. Spievey is really good. He is very physical and stuffs the run. He didn’t get thrown at a lot his last year at Iowa because he was dominant in the Cover-2 defense they run (same zone coverage that the Vikings usually run). He ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the Combine, but had a chest cold at the time. He’ll be a great fit with the Vikings. If we waited until round 3 for a cornerback, the talent level available would be lower. It’s a very important position, and the Vikings have a critical need there.
With McCoy and some other quarterbacks, if they are there in the middle rounds, we would have to take one. Even if not, there are some good quarterbacks in the late rounds to consider.
Finally, Donovan McNabb will be a free agent in 2011, and Favre will probably retire at the conclusion of the 2010 season. We might make a run at McNabb then.
