Colts

Pouncey is fine, but I think Graham and Price are much better value at positions where they could also have serious impact.

Carrington is good. He’d fit the Raheem Brock role well.

No big issue with Warren, but I would expect a tackle in the first 3 rounds. Kyle Calloway would be good there. They could be able to drop him right in at RT.

Jaguars

The experience that the Jaguars have had with 1st round WRs is very bad. Beyond that, the WRs they have may not be great, but they are young and look like they may be just fine.

I’d see the Jags having McClain, CJ Spiller and Morgan rated higher than Dez Bryant, and in that order. Of course, that is just my opinion. I could see the Jags taking McClain, Spiller or Morgan with the pick, but Bryant is hard for me to imagine.

Of course, if he is your BAP at that position, I won’t argue… but for the Jags, I just don’t see him being the BAP with who is on the board at 10.

by alwaysforgiven821 on Mar 13, 2010 9:17 PM EST reply actions

I pushed enter too quick...

Matt Tennant is a very solid pick. I wouldn’t think that he would fall to the Jags, but if he does I certainly would not argue.

If Spoon can play MLB, that's fine

Others are OK too.

Arthur Jones is very good, dunno that his ""Injury history""" is scaring teams off tho.

Larry Asante is OK

I like Nate Allen/Chad Jones in round 2…then say…Linval Joseph in round 3

Weatherspoon

I had this thought the other day. The Giants could take a look at Weatherspoon in the 1st for MLB. With their bad experience last year with DT leg injuries, Jones would be a shock in the 2nd. More likely to consider Atkins, Houston, Neal.

Umm

You didn’t give a second round pick to the eagles.

Dwyer's not a good fit for the Texans

Montario Hardesty is a better fit for the Zone Blocking Scheme.

Dwyer does not fit anyone

He has to learn a new system no matter what.

I like Washington for the Eagles I just like him in the 2nd round but in your mock we don’t have one so I understand. I read that they supposedly like McCourty so I think they would take him before Washington and if you didn’t do the trade we would definately take Graham at 24

We will not draft Cody over Iupati.

Dallas’ biggest need is interior OL. 2nd is a toss up between S and OT.

  1. Mike Iupati
  2. Jared Valdeheer
  3. Jerome Murphy

That would be a monster draft.

by Flounder69 on Mar 14, 2010 11:15 AM EDT reply actions

Could be

but I read something where Dallas was thinking of getting a real NT and moving Ratliff to the end spot. Plus you got a pretty good guard in the second round in Asamoah.

Cody is really working hard to get ready for the draft by dropping over 23 pounds already. He probably only needs to drop another 15 in weight to get to be about 335. He just needs to hit the weights a little more and he will be a beast.

As a Viking fan I had a hard time putting him there for you because I thought the Vikings should take him although many of my fellow Viking fans disagree totally.

Guys like Cody do not come around very often. The way he has been working shows a dedication and work ethic that teams like to see. To be honest, I could see him going to Miami, Denver, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, or Dallas. And of course the Raiders at #7. And I know that some of these teams have franchised their NTs but they have can always trade these guys after next year.

by MarkSP18 on Mar 14, 2010 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Hey Mark I love Cody. I am a Bama fan, but Iupati is to good to pass up.

The only place you read about Ratliff moving are fan sites. They all just know he will be unstoppable there.

by Flounder69 on Mar 14, 2010 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions

+1

If Iupati’s available at 27, I think he’s the pick. I don’t think the ’Boys take Cody in the 2nd round, let alone the 1st.

If they do get Iupati, I think they then take Burnett in the 2nd.

by RickT on Mar 14, 2010 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions

dude

Ratliff is an All-Pro at NT ,why would you want to mess with that?
and our run D was top 10 last year Ratliff isn’t a liability to the run game.

Rams

Like the first 2 rounds but don’t really care for colt mccoy but I could live with this.

by bobhugehands on Mar 14, 2010 12:10 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, I thought about LeFevour but

McCoy is getting kind of hosed in this whole draft process.

IMO all you really need to do is see if a kid can play football.

The Rams may not even go QB until late as they have Bulger, Boller and Feeley. They can always try for McNabb or another FA next year.

The thing about Bradford is that he gets hurt and I don’t care that he put on 18 pounds this past year. That does not tell me anything about when he gets slammed to the ground will his shoulder take it. 35 million dollars is way too much money to find out that.

I could see the Rams staying pat at QB and then doing this …

1. Trade Atogwe for a first next year and fifth this year
2. Taking Nate Allen in the second round and Koa Misi in the third round of this draft

… you would then have two first round picks next year that you could use if you wanted to try and move up for Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett or Andrew Luck.

by MarkSP18 on Mar 14, 2010 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Agree about Bradford

Nate Allen I’m not so sure. I like Chancellor for FS if we got that deal for Atogwe. That deal seems a little unrealistic but who knows?

by dbcouver on Mar 14, 2010 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions

No one is giving you a 1rst for a 29 yo S.

That is a crazy as my fellow Cowboys fans thinking Roy Williams has trade value. Atogwe is only tendered right of 1rst refusal. All some team has to do is use a poison pill and he is gone for free.

by Flounder69 on Mar 14, 2010 8:17 PM EDT up reply actions

The last thing the use of a poison pill is going to be for an owner

Is free. Not now anyway. That’s a pandoras box I’m guessing no owner is going to consider.

Good for Denver

Plz dont listen to anyone bout Dez=Denver it just doesnt make sense. We wanna get rid of BMarsh, so why replace one headache with another?

My one thing is I dont see us going Safety unless Berry falls to us at 11. We jus got 2 safeties last year in the 3nd and 4th rounds so I dont see us going there in the middle rounds again.

by DBroncs1414 on Mar 14, 2010 3:02 PM EDT reply actions

Well Dez may fall into the 20's

Chris Cook looks like he can play CB though. That is what I was thinking. He is 6-2 212 and ran a 4.43 forty. That is pretty good plus he had 4 picks and 6 passes defended last year in college.

by MarkSP18 on Mar 14, 2010 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Where is Cody projected now? Any chance he could slip to the Bills at 41?

by FearTheTree on Mar 15, 2010 1:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Who would you pick in those spots?

I thought that Williams with his versatility would help along the line and Wilson & Allen would definitely help in the secondary. They are right at the top of their respective position rankings in this year’s draft. I thought those were need area or areas that could use some depth that would eventually take over the starting spot. Norwood is a pretty good rush LB.

I don’t mind if you tell me my mock is crap or fair in this case, but to have any dialogue, which this is about, it would be helpful if you had a little more detail in your response. Otherwise thanks for the response.

by MarkSP18 on Mar 15, 2010 7:45 AM EDT up reply actions

I like Lee in the 3rd but that is about it

There is now way we pass on Earl Thomas in the first Safety is till are biggest need.
and in the 2nd I’d take Torrell Troup

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

Vikings did OK

I like the first two picks. Not crazy about a TE for our third pick. I am a Donavan Warren fan so I would have picked him up in the third. Nothing fancy here but solid draft for the Vikes.

I thought your first round was a little different than most but possible. Your depth of knowledge for players in rounds two and three was very good. Nice Mock overall.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

by lifelongvike on Mar 15, 2010 5:28 PM EDT reply actions

Thanks

TE is not terribly high on the needs list for the Vikings if it is at all. I think a pass catching TE to backup Shiancoe is necessary. Maybe not in round 3. With Warren there I probably should have taken him but I was thinking of trying to hold off and get Myron Lewis in round 4.

It all depends though because when I do these I usually try to go off needs lists that I pick up from different sites and then just take the best player at that spot (sometimes I consider the defense being played). I could just rig it so the Vikings get all the guys I want but I try not to do it. There are mocks out there with Iupati going in the second round or falling to us. Houston is usually seen in the 3rd and 4th rounds. I have to select players earlier than desired because the Vikings pick late in each round.

by MarkSP18 on Mar 15, 2010 5:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I like Myron Lewis also. Not fast but solid player. Will fit the zone well.

Yeah picking late means you either have to take the one that falls to you OR reach in every round to insure getting the players you really want. I like the first BPA method but you have to be happy with the teams current players to do that.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

Disagree with your Redskins picks

If the Redskins can’t get Okung at four I think they would go with Bulaga or possibly Berry. If they were planning on drafting a QB then I don’t think they would have picked up Grossman as I believe he will be their number two QB, a position that Campbell would fill when the new QB was ready to start. I could easily be wrong on the 1st pick but if they do go QB then the 2nd pick would have to be LT which is definitely their biggest need. Saffold who went to the Raiders a couple of picks later would make more sense IMO. Even tho I disagree it is a very good mock IMO
