Tebowmania rolls along today at Florida pro day
At long last, Tim Tebow will unveil his new and improved throwing motion today. Rejoice. Or whatever. But in all seriousness, there is plenty to watch out for at the Florida pro day today – which begins at 10 a.m.
One of the biggest things to watch is the 40-yard dash time of Joe Haden. He timed poorly at the combine and may need to do better to return to being a top 10 pick. Fair or not, some talent evaluators weigh the 40 heavily for cornerbacks.
It will also be interesting to see how Brandon Spikes works out. He didn't do a lot at the combine and will need to show some athleticism. The same can be said for tight end Aaron Hernandez.
For today, I will try to update this post when I can. Make sure to follow Andrea Adelson's Orlando Sentinel blog for more.
Update: Spikes reportedly ran the 40 in 5 seconds flat; Haden in 4.44; Hernandez 4.61. It's been raining in Gainesville, so this might not be a fast surface.
Update 2: Haden was told he ran times of 4.41 and 4.39. Reporters have been saying that Tebow kept dropping his arm on his throws, especially while he's on the move.
From Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union:
Looks like Tebow worked out one kink and developed another. There's still a small loop & now a bit of a pause in motion. Mechanical looking.
Other notable pro days today are Penn State, Michigan State and Arkansas State.

So when the rapture occurs and Tebow disappears after throwing another duck, what will we do with ourselves?

In fairness...
He did run it while poking himself in the eye.

But he apparently looked bad in position drills
Stiff and upright, according to SI.
But more importantly, SI is speculating that he’s been slacking on his offseason workouts. If so, that’s a big red mark. Kid’s facing the biggest job interview of his life. Even if 40 times are overrated, if you’re going to skip running at the Combine and stake it all on your Pro Day run, then you better show up in shape. When you show up obviously out of shape, I think it raises legitimate questions about his dedication.
If he can’t get himself into offseason workouts when he’s trying to get drafted, what do you expect him to do once he gets a contract with some guaranteed money?
High 4.3s to low 4.4s - and while the ground was wet, too. That's really something.
He would have likely been in the mid 4.3s with a good running surface.
Good coverage of it at Michael C. Wright’s twitter:

Apparently the Jag’s DC Mel Tucker was spending a lot of time with Haden, too…
Doubt he drops past 10 now. I never thought he would. :P

Haden says he was told he ran 4.41 and 4.39

Haden’s 40 time may have been a bit slower than we first reported. A number of scouts have since told us their watches read 4.52 when Haden crossed the line, as opposed to the 4.45 we initially reported.

But the conditions were definitely subpar
Scouts in Gainesville have told us they are likely to take .05 seconds off each time run today because of the field conditions.
from SI.com
That would put him right back in the mid 4.4s where scouts wanted to see him. Of course, it was ludicrous that a single bad 40 time would drop him out of the top 10. He has seasons of game tape showing him to be the consensus top CB in the draft and I never really thought that one bad run at the combine would knock him out of the top where he belongs.
Since it's raining there...
…did they organize a drill to see if Tebow can, in fact, walk on water?
"'Tis a bird I love, with its brooding note, And the trembling throb in its mottled throat; There's a human look in its swelling breast, And the gentle curve of its lowly crest; And I often stop with the fear I feel-- He runs so close to the rapid wheel." Nathaniel Parker Willis, "The Belfrey Pigeon"
I really wish people would stop trying to turn this man into a NFL QB. just give up

Its funny how people use the word biased on this sight referring to Tebow and ESPN
Yet you chose one quote to describe Tebows practice.
“From the Senior Bowl to now, the improvement is ridiculous,” NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said. “I was blown away.”
Or this from Panthers coach John Fox: “He had a very good workout. I saw some adjustments he made and thought he executed very well.”
Holmgren offered up this: “If you look hard enough at anybody, you can be really picky about stuff. Be careful about losing sight of the big picture and what kind of a player (Tebow) is and winner he is. There’s a lot of good about this young man.”
GREAT REPORTING!
