Suh to the Raiders?

The latest Mock Draft by Bucky Brooks at NFL.com has Suh going to the Raiders at pick #8.  Brook's previous Mock drafts have Jason Pierre- Paul going #3 to the Bucs and Carlos Dunlap # 6 to the Seahawks.  This Mock shows the difference of opinions out there in the Mock Draft community.  I thought this was a stretch to say Suh would drop to #8.   Thought I would share this with everyone, its free content.

Brooks is, to put it delicately, does not know what he's talking about

As a Raider fan, I would turn backflips and set off bottle rockets if the Raiders could grab Suh without paying and arm and a leg to move up.

But will it happen? No. Not in a million years.

Yeah, as great as it would be

there’s no way Suh drops beyond 3 in my opinion. I still would wonder if AD would pass on him though.

Probably won’t happen…surprisingly, some of the reasons behind the choices make a little sense.

-Bradford makes sense
-I am hearing Okung there
-I do think McCoy is a slightly better fit, but they still might take Suh just b/c he is better
-They are probably not going to put that much money in another DT
-Ditto of above after 2 first rounders on the line. I have heard bulaga here but it still might be berry.
-To the seahawks is where I see him going the lowest. The seahawks could use a Tackle but they have another first rounder…pass up suh? at a position of need?

Okay, just went and looked at the draft

I respect his point about McCoy being a great fit for Tampa’s one gap system, but is there anyway possible that Seattle, with two top 15 picks, lets Suh get past #6? And if they, do will Cleveland do the same at #7? No way.

I totally agree. Seattle has a pick that they can either take a tackle if available. a Trent Williams, a Bruce Campbell (who he doesn’t even have in the first round…), Trade Down for a charles Brown, or take Iupati who some think could be a great RT.

Seattle does definitely need a good DT…cleveland not as much. we already have a nose the coach likes. we don’t have anyone great at end besides Rogers, but we have a lot of solid rotation guys (robaire smith, CJ Moseley, Kenyon Coleman, Atyuba Rubin). I think the browns could take a DT in the draft, just not that high if berry is still on the board.

IF somehow berry and suh are both available at the time the browns draft, I think they would take berry.

Brooks

frequently seems to half ass his research. I don’t put much stock in anything he writes / says.

Everyone on NFL network is just following what Mayock says about McCoy being better than Suh.

I just think he is wasting his time and the readers time. The disappointing thing is those fans that only see his mock drafts… those poor souls

Aside from the Suh thing...

actually, Bucky seemed to do a good job. I guess a broken clock is right twice a day!

Only problem is, that Suh thing probably would cause a domino effect.

Why, is Suh there? Suh would not slip past the Seahawks…..

He's officially an idiot
the addition of Bulaga addresses the Chiefs’ biggest need on the offensive line.

The Chiefs have much bigger needs than O-line after signing Lilja and Wigeman. Suh dropping past 3 seems like a stretch to me!

Not too far of a stretch...

If it were…Bradford, Okung, McCoy,…Redskins could pick Clausen…and then from there it could be interesting. KC could draft another DL or they could pick up Berry.

I can’t see Seattle or Cleveland passing up on Suh though…now that is a stretch.

by makola on Mar 17, 2010 6:44 PM EDT up reply actions

if berry is still there, they would pass on Suh.

Another idiot who puts Mathews in Houston...

when will people learn? It’s not happening. It’ll be DT or a CB.

Al Davis Drafting

The very 1st point that needs to be understood about Al Davis is his philosophy to take the top player at any position if at all possible…Right or wrong that is and has been his governing philosophy…So if he is picking at #8 and an “OT” or “DT” has already been taken do not expect him to draft the second best player at that position when another player is on the board who is the very best at his position…

You should now look to another position such as “DE” or “OLB” or “CB” or “WR” as the possible pick…No “G” or “C” merits this high of selection and we are already set at the other speciality positions such as “QB”-“TE”-“RB” in Mr Davis’ opinion…

Of course that is total speculation on my part because I have never been able to speak to the man so don’t really know his true opinions but I know he has already made a huge investments in those areas and think he feels set at the positions. Not to say he wont continue to make investments if he feels insecure at a position just as he has done in the past by drafting "CB"s high yr after yr…The same case could be made for drafting another “WR” high at this point….

I have understood this philosophy for many a moon and it has helped me to come up with the correct position yr after yr but not the correct player as in last season’s drafting of DHB…I expected “WR” and got it but was totally wrong on who…That who went to SadFran and never suited up for a single game so maybe the “OldMan” new a thing or two and intentionally stayed away from that “SpoiledMeat”…

Al Davis Drafting

A secondary thought here…

1st Brooks may be thinking possible trade with TB at #3 or 2nd he may be expecting Suh to slide down for the same reason others have in resent drafts…I will copy post the reason here…

Summary: Suh is an outstanding prospect for the 2010 NFL Draft class because there is so much to like about him. He can play in multiple schemes, which NFL general managers love. His durability could end up being a huge problem dependent on doctors’ reviews at NFL Combine like Glenn Dorsey.

Player Comparison: Richard Seymour. Seymour and Suh have that great length, explosiveness, and strength that you want in a defensive tackle with the ability to play various schemes.

Now…Remember how Dorsey slipped and he put up 4 Tkls and 1 Sk for the season after being taken at #5 by KC…So it’s possible that some teams may be “GunShy” about pulling the trigger too high for an often injured “DT”…

Food For Thought…

Corection

32 Tkls n 1 Sk w 72 Tkls n 2 Sks in two seasons and he is a total disappointment by the fans according to what I read…

They need to identify themselves so we may properly shame them

I'm A Yes

In response to your request I voted for the 1st time and gave a “YES” vote so now how is it that you will publicly shame me…I was #70 for the record…

Simply because censorship of opinions should never be tolerated at any level….I’m still a free man and 10,000 mile outside US AirSpace…Phnom Penh to be exact…
