Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

A SupraMock Draft

1. St. Louis (1-15) – Suh – outperforming McCoy at the combine has put him back at the top of Spag’s Draft Board. I know Bradford is the popular pick as of now, but why would the Rams want someone that hasn’t thrown in the past 5 months because of shoulder problems? It's not like the guy's tangibles are off the chart either. And didn’t the Rams have enough injuries at the QB position last year?

   2. Detroit (2-14) – Okung – Protect Stafford. Shoulder + Knee injuries = short shelf life.

   3. Tampa Bay (3-13) – McCoy – BPA pick fills one of many holes on the Bucs.

   4. Washington (4-12) – Clausen – Throws one of the prettiest deep balls in the nation [pros or college]. Shanahan also has put up with the arrogant attitude before and has had success.

   5. Kansas City (4-12) – Eric Berry – I actually see Scott Pioli trading back but for the sake of Mocking the Chiefs select arguably the best DB prospect in the last decade.

   6. Seattle (5-11) – Morgan – Ends up replacing Kerney. Kerney is making far too much money for an aging DE whose production is on the decline.

   7. Cleveland (5-11) – Haden – There’s a fast track at the University of Florida. Retained his stock in many scouts eyes.

   8. Oakland (5-11) – Campbell – Cable hopes to address the OL and Campbell just posted one of the best 40 times ever for an offensive tackle. Almost surefire pick here.

   9. Buffalo (6-10) – Bradford – New HC, New QB, fresh start for the Bills

  10. Jacksonville (7-9) – Ronaldo McClain – I realize that the Jags have protection and pass rushing problems but at those 2 positions they’re still very young. Both their OTs will be in their 2nd year next year and their DEs are going into their 3rd year. In the 4-3 defense the ILB has more responsibility than in a 3-4, McClain should be able to come in and start in the 1st game.

  11. Denver – from Chicago (7-9) – Bryant – Marshall and McDaniels don’t mix. I expect Marshall to be traded

12. Miami (7-9) – Graham – Big Ten and a Senior— fits Bill Parcells 1st round tendencies.

  13. San Francisco (8-8) – Spiller – McC has implied he wants a dynamic running back with return capabilities. Their draft board beat writers are assuming has already been set.

  14. Seattle – from Denver (8-8) – Trent Willams – Protecting Hasslebeck or Whinehust will be huge.

  15. New York Giants (8-8) – Earl Thomas – Converted to cornerback. Giants need consistent play from their CBs.

  16. Tennessee (8-8) – Weatherspoon –Bullocks is aging and has underwent knee surgery

  17. San Francisco – from Carolina (8-8) – Pierre Paul –If the 49ers want to be a dominant defensive team they need to get more out of their OLBs. (Haralson, lawson, Brooks)

  18. Pittsburgh (9-7) – Dan Williams – Trendy pick since Casey Hampton is getting up there in age. Though Hampton has been signed to a new deal, it takes some time to groom a nose tackle anyway.

  19. Atlanta (9-7) – Wilson – Desperately in need of a CB

  20. Houston (9-7) – A.Davis – Schaub took a lot of hits last year.

  21. Cincinnati* (10-6) – Taylor Mays  – Not exactly a need, but a want.

  22. New England* (10-6) – Kindle – Can’t have too many pass rushers.

  23. Green Bay* (11-5) – Bulaga – Rodgers knows Jared Allen all too well.

  24. Philadelphia* (11-5) – DunlapTrent Cole needs a sidekick

  25. Baltimore* (9-7) – Benn – They're not going to just stop at Boldin, Newsome wants Flacco to thrive, in what potentially can be one of the top 6 offenses next year.

  26. Arizona* (10-6) – Bowman - A Dansby replacement

  27. Dallas* (11-5) – Tate – Pure BPA pick. That's insurance to both the return game and WRs.

  28. San Diego* (13-3) – Mathews – An every down back that the Chargers need.

  29. New York Jets* (9-7) – Odrick – Seems as if the Jets will resign Braylon Edwards and they recently traded for Cromartie— I see the Jets going for a 3-4 end to wait in the wings of Shaun Ellis

  30. Minnesota* (12-4) – Iupati – People don’t expect Iupati to fall this far, but no one expected the consensus best OG from last year [Duke Robinson] to fall all the way to the 5th round. Upgrade over Herrera.

  31. Indianapolis* (14-2) – Price – Yet another trendy pick. Interior line is too soft.

  32. New Orleans* (13-3) – Robinson – With Michael Jenkins converting to safety this year, Saints will be looking for another future CB.

I like Charles Brown over Price

and the Colts run D was actually better against runs between the guards than behind either tackle or wide right (as good as vs wide left). Probably because they were playing most run downs with 2 1-techs, rather than a 1 and a 3 (which is why I’d love Price in the first, just not as much as Brown).

I like Earl Thomas

but he’s not gonna be a CB with them, he’d be a safety.

I’d much rather have Bulaga if he’s there too.

Antrel Rolle and Kenny Philups

1.Brandon Graham 1.Charles Brown 2. Syd Thompson 3.Torell Troup 4.Andrew Quarless 5.John Jerry 6.Mike Kafka 6. Jake Sharp 7.Preston Parker

Rolle will start

Phillips likely will not, he’s coming off IR and won’t (shouldn’t) be expected to.

Corey Webster, Terrell Thomas and Aaron Ross say he ain’t playing corner.

I just said I didn't think it was smart to pass on Haden if he was there

But no, you have to blow it way out of proportion.

Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!

Please?

You offer no stats or anything to back up what you say. You not only argued with him about a team you know nothing about but you posted a picture of a kick off return as proof. Off stats, comparisons, logic and I will believe you are not a troll. Dont just say a player sucks because he sucks.

You did it 3 times

The Giants CB thing, the Tony Romo thing, and the Glenn Dorsey thing.

2 times.

I admitted Romo was a top 10 QB. I’m not a troll. Trolls just want to anger people. I have NO desire to piss people off. I just like talking football.

I think they could take Haden too

But you also don’t realize that CJ Spiller could help them more.

Eli ran for his life entirely too many times last year, and basically 0% of the time he had a safety valve, or a RB that when thrown to, could catch.

Haden is a solid player. So is CJ Spiller.

Haden would be the Giants nickel corner..or maybe they convert him to safety?

Spiller could breath life into a stagnant, non-gamebreaking (injury prone) running game. Breath life into a stagnant special teams.

The Giants have never had a RB with his speed. Spiller could potentially be Tiki Barber, plus gamebreaking speed.

So…you think I’d choose a nickel corner over that?

by FreeBradshaw on Mar 21, 2010 8:27 AM EDT up reply actions

I guess I like Haden more than you

and Spiller less than you.

And yes, I will admit, you know the Giants a lot more than me. I see maybe 6-8 of their games at best. So, I’ll just trust you you this time since its your team.

Trolls argue with no logic

They Put pictures of Kickoff returns to get under peoples skin, they argue with no logic. If a troll was someone who angered someone then we are all trolls. However, we are not. Im not saying you are a troll, but Ive caught you trolling 3 times. Writing, Glenn Dorsey=Bust is being a troll bro.

by darwithabar on Mar 22, 2010 3:39 AM EDT up reply actions

There's just a consensus out there he's a bust

Here is a link of this guy at walterfootball looking at the top DTs and QBs taken recently. There’s 3 categories. Hit, OK, and Bust. He lists Dorsey as a bust. If you want stats, how about 2 career sacks? I know 3-4 DL generally don’t get sacks, but 2? As far as sack numbers, the bar was set low, and Dorsey still came up short.

How about this quote from JoeBucsfan.com:

One of the rumors about manbeast defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is he’s the next Glenn Dorsey: a bust.

Or this from cbssports.com:

The bust factor for a defensive tackle is high — Glenn Dorsey (No. 5 overall in 2008) looks to be stumbling into the same footsteps of DeWayne Robertson (No. 4, 2003), Ryan Sims (No. 6, 2002), Gerard Warren (No. 3, 2001) and the big daddy of them all, Dan Wilkinson (No. 1 overall, 1994)

Or maybe read this article. (Headline: “Report: Chiefs Down On Dorsey”)

There’s even been trade rumors. There’s not trade rumors this early for players this early that do well. I didn’t hear any rumblings about Matt Ryan being on the block. The Titans aren’t shopping Chris Johnson.

I know he probably is a better fit as in 4-3. I know he ended the season pretty well. And I know that he plays a position where you don’t put up numbers. But overall, he still has been a big disappointment.

There, you wanted some arguments, you got them.

Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!

Aren't they both suppose to start?

That’s what I’ve been reading and Rolle has said himself that they’ll be the best safety duo in the league “hands down”

Now I am just realizing the seriousness to Phillips injury. But it seems as if Phillips and his fellow teammates and coaches believe he’ll be ready by then. Maybe they’re being overly optimistic.

Aaron Ross hampered by the hammy all year in 09 and Webster isn’t a quality starter

I’m still convinced the giants will select a CB in the early rounds

1.Brandon Graham 1.Charles Brown 2. Syd Thompson 3.Torell Troup 4.Andrew Quarless 5.John Jerry 6.Mike Kafka 6. Jake Sharp 7.Preston Parker

by supraman on Mar 21, 2010 1:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Yes they are being overly optimistic.

Phillips said he could “play tomorrow” (his words), but I dunno about that. He just cannot be relied on. Basically, they have 1 1/2 safeties, so that’s why they still need another one.

And please…just don’t mention Corey Webster’s name and “isn’t a quality starter”. C-Web was one of the best CB’s, top 10 rated, in the NFL in 2008.

Our defensive coordinator decided to use him in zone alot, which just isn’t what he’s goot at. Why? Well, that’s why he’s fired.

Corey Webster is a SOLID corner. Most expected a Pro Bowl or better season out of him in 2009, but the entire defense didn’t play up to high school standards. And that’s why our DC is gone.

But I’m pretty much 100% sure that barring injury, the Giants starting corners in 2010 will be Terrell Thomas and Corey Webster. Aaron Ross, who’s finally healthy, will be our nickel corner.

The Giants could take Earl Thomas, merely because he is a safety that can play corner. They like versatility…but I highly doubt he’d be a CB for the Giants right away.

It would either be Aaron Ross at safety and Earl Thomas at nickel corner, or Earl Thomas at safety, and Aaron Ross at nickel corner.

Given that…I’d say ET would be a safety

2008

when the Giants still had a pass rush. Any secondary is going to benefit from that. That’s why Webster was exposed this year, when the Giants couldn’t put Spagnuolo-like pressure on the QB

1.Brandon Graham 1.Charles Brown 2. Syd Thompson 3.Torell Troup 4.Andrew Quarless 5.John Jerry 6.Mike Kafka 6. Jake Sharp 7.Preston Parker

by supraman on Mar 21, 2010 12:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Not really...actually

he was more so benefitted in 2008 from a Coach using more man to man schemes, vs the zone (scared) scheme which Webster’s OK with.

Not a single chance in hell, 100% sure, Webster’s not starting in 2010 (unless he’s hurt).

I’m in favor of adding corner depth. Earl Thomas is fine by me, but he’d be a safety.

There is no way he’s starting over Webster or TT. None. Just quit while your at this man, you just don’t really know what your getting at with this.

why you’re downplaying the notion that an elite pass rush that you had in 2008 greatly benefited your corners? If it was as simple as the Giants go man to man they become a great passing defense, don’t you think the defensive coordinator would have done so?

There is no way he’s starting over Webster or TT. None. Just quit while your at this man, you just don’t really know what your getting at with this.

Probably wouldn’t start on opening day because he’s a rookie learning a fairly new position. Barring injuries Earl wouldn’t get a chance to start until his second year. But that’s not likely going to happen, hamstring injuries seem to be chronic. I imagine him being inserted at nickel sometime mid-season.

I’m in favor of adding corner depth. Earl Thomas is fine by me, but he’d be a safety.

IMO, Earl Thomas is a CB at the next level. Unless your GM specifically says Earl Thomas is a safety, then I’m not going to deviate from my opinion.

our defensive coordinator was incompetent..

again, why he was fired.

And you can call Earl Thomas a CB all you want, that’s fine by me. I’m pretty certain he’s not gonna start over 2-3 solid, starting caliber CB’s.

The reasoning is off by a lot but you obviously don’t care….doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme I guess.

The Texans pick

While there are some at BRB who want a lineman, there is no one there that wants Anthony Davis. The Texans use a zone-blocking scheme so they look for athletic linemen who can move for the running and screen game. If the Texans drafted a OT in round one it would be USC’s Charles Brown.

Your Niner picks are pretty good.

Yes, Marsh and McD arent a match made in heaven. But why would denver replace one headache with another?

by DBroncs1414 on Mar 20, 2010 6:59 PM EDT reply actions

Lying about speaking with Deion Sanders makes him a headache?

Marshall punting balls during WR position drills is probably more of a headache.
Dez Bryant would have to earn right to punt balls during practice if that’s the direction he decides to go in.

I will really, really feel bad for the league that they will have to gameplan our offense if we got Benn. There is no way to stop us.

Yes, and Frankenflacco dug us out of that hole

I don’t understand you guys getting rid of Tapp though. He was destructive force and you guys traded him for a sub-par DE. You guys have two picks in the first so I can possibly see you guys getting:
1. C.J. Spiller
2. Jason Pierre-Paul
Good luck next season.

This offseason has been puzzling

We trade away our backup QB for basically nothing then give up a 3rd rounder and a swap of 2nd round picks (from 40 all the way to 60) for the Chargers third-stringer. If we pass up Clausen because of freakin’ Charlie Whitehurst, someone should lose their job.

I’m hoping for Jimmy Clausen at 6 and Anthony Davis at 14. I’ll pass on Spiller and JPP. 1st round RBs are a no-no and JPP has bust written all over him.

I think Clausen will go to Washington and Bradford to ST. Louis

So you guys might have to go BPA this year.

As was Adrian Peterson, Ladainian Tomlinson, and Chris Johnson, to name a few.

Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.

89 INT's+27 lost fumbles=Bad

Most comeback wins since 2003=Priceless
