Eight players officially invited to the draft
According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, the NFL has invited eight players to the draft:
Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
Russell Okung, T, Oklahoma State
Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
Trent Williams, T, Oklahoma
Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State
Quarterbacks Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen, Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow have also received invitations to help "celebrate" the draft.
The celebrate qualifier that La Canfora has on his story was amusing. Typically the invitees are only first-round picks. Tebow and Colt McCoy may not be. So it struck me as funny because normally the annual version of this story talks about how the players invited are first rounders.
The most surprising invite, besides Tebow and Colt McCoy, is Jared Odrick. Perhaps that is a reflection of Tyson Jackson being selected third overall last year.
The players who are invited will participate in charity work during the week of the draft.
Update: According to Will Spencer of Draft Breakdown, cornerback Joe Haden said on a radio show last night that he will also be in attendance.

Looks like Odrick wins the honor...
…Of being the guy hustled off to the green room so he doesn’t have to sit by himself.
Unless the Giants take him, I don’t see him going before the Jets.
Why Bradford-a top 10 lock, even if the Rams pass, because Buffalo won’t-wasn’t officially invited is somewhat mystifying.

I think...
the Patriots would take him in a heartbeat. The Broncos and Steelers are in the mix as well.

And by "Jets", I meant "Ravens"
I blame someone else

he is a lot higher on NFL draft boards than around the blogosphere.

Because
He is a high character guy. Very intelligent. He’s versatile (can play 3 tech in 4-3 or 5 tech in 3-4). Was the 2009 Big Ten Defensive player of the year. He is Penn St.‘s number 1 draft prospect. Oh and he ran a 4.85 forty at 6’5" 305.

Yup, happens every year. Especially with the Raiders consistantly drafting in the top 10 ;-)

I'd imagine Haden would have to get an invite
Odrick is one of the top prospects for 3-4 teams needing an End. He still probably wont go until middle to late 1st.

This draft will be anything but typical
Typically the invitees are only first-round picks. Tebow and Colt McCoy may not be. So it struck me as funny because normally the annual version of this story talks about how the players invited are first rounders.
Its going to be a 3 day event instead of the typical two days. It’s going to start in “prime time” instead of Saturday morning.
Word is that because this year’s draft is top heavy with postitions that the average fan doesnt find “sexy” e.g. defensive tackle and offensive tackle, the NFL is inviting players that bring a little bit more “star power,” thus guys like Tebow and Colt McCoy have been invited to attend this years draft.
The NFL apparently will allow them to leave the green room as they please to avoid uncomfortable situations like Aaron Rogers experienced a few years ago.

"invited"
Who really knows who was actually invited. This is a list of players who were first invited, and then RSVP’d, but the media is reporting them as only invitees. Yet, the media will noI have a follow-up report and say that Okung is turning down his invitation to go bowling. I bet they invited Joe Haden, for example, but then he decided to watch from home, or go fishing with his dad.
I was expecting Tebow to get an invute

Tebow's gonna be there, but they don't invite Spoon? *gasp* that's just wrong on SO many levels!
Odrick, huh … someone “know” something the rest of the universe doesn’t?
