Around SBN: Ray Allen Fighting Age, Injury And His New Role

Evening draft links to click

Some of these are pretty absurd. Enjoy!

Pride of Detroit: We haven't had a hot trade rumor in a couple of days, so why not? This scenario is Detroit trading the second overall pick if Sam Bradford doesn't go first overall. The possible partners include Cleveland and Buffalo.

Tulsa World: Gil Brandt of NFL.com calls Sam Bradford a better prospect than Peyton Manning. That's heavy praise.

Ohio.com: Joe Haden defends himself against a bad 40-yard dash time. "I've never run a 4.5 in my life," Haden said afterward in an interview on the NFL Network. "I'm definitely going to have run that back again and definitely show that I'm not 4.5 at all, definitely 4.4. On film you can see I don't play 4.4, I react, I keep up with everybody who runs 4.3. I hope you see that.

Pittsburgh Post Gazette: Just how much will Dorin Dickerson's combine numbers help his draft stock? My guess is not much because Dickerson is a man without a position. He's not Dustin Keller.

Star-divide

Jacksonville.com: Breaking down the misconceptions about Tim Tebow.

ESPN.com: Uh. Thank you?

St. Louis Post Dispatch: The Rams have had conversations with the Eagles about trading for Donovan McNabb.

Cincy Jungle: Dumping out the remains of the combine notebook.

Shutdown Corner: Unnamed NFL team asks Gerald McCoy if he wears a g-string or a jock strap. The question was probably asked to see how McCoy reacted. But who would wear a g-string when they play?

MTD: NFL Draft + beer = amazing.

Haden

Had a horrible stance. He’ll run more of a 4.4 at his Pro Day.

I think Dickerson improved his stock a lot. He’s a weapon.

He may not have a position, but his hands and size…with his speed (he’d have teh 2nd fastest 40 in the WR group…tho the cone and shuttle weren’t WR worthy).

He’d be a good weapon. I dunno where his stock was before, but a team in the 3rd or 4th would fine a home for him.

yeah. for all the talk about how he is way to small to be a TE, look at these numbers:

Ozzie Newsome: 6-2 232

Shannon Sharpe: 6-2 228

Dorin Dickerson: 6-1.2 226

Wow…he is SO much smaller than shannon sharpe. Shannon sharpe was able to survive in the NFL with being “smaller”. and he retired fairly recently (so he isn’t from another era of football really). I am not saying that Dickerson will be that good, but for all the criticism of his height, he truly isn’t that much shorter than a couple of HOF TEs.

Also, when guys are shorter, they can make up for it a bit by being able to jump well. Steve smith on the panthers has ridiculous jumping ability. Dickerson put up the 2nd best vertical jump at the combine. he even put up a better one than eric berry.

Dickerson actually is 6"4 226lbs.

So he’s bigger then all those guys.

I strongly disagree with Brandt then.

Perhaps Bradford has a lot of upside, but he has a lot of red flags.
1. Shoulder.
2. Spread offense.
3. Can he play when under pressure from a D-lineman?
4. Can he play without a stellar group of skill position players?
He has the accuracy, the size, and the arm, but we still don’t know if he can make the reads from under center, or if he has great pocket presence.

Does anyone have an opinion on Scott Long, WR, Louisville?

His production was a little disappointing this year, but he played in a horrible offense and under a terrilbe coach. Long did well in the Texas vs. Nation game. Here are some of his combine numbers:

Height: 6’2
Weight 216
40 Time: 4.46 (9th overall)
Bench Press: 20 (1st overall)
Vertical Jump: 41.5 (1st overall)
Broad Jump: 10’3 (4th overall)
3 Cone Drill: 6.45 (1st overall)
20 yard shuttle: 4.09 (2nd overall)
60 yard shuttle: 11: 06 (1st overall)

Long is a great route runner with good hands. He is very good at finding weak spots in a defense. He also has good size. Scouts worried about his speed and acceleration, but after dominating every drill, It’s hard to say that.

Scientific research has proven that you lose exactly 5.37 billion brain cells every time you listen to Todd McShay.
