Torell Troup NFL Draft scouting report

Torell Troup
6’2 3/4, 314 pounds | Defensive tackle | Central Florida

Strengths: At Central Florida, Troup played nose tackle in a three-man front. He can hold the line really well and doesn’t get moved around. Has the strength to take on multiple blockers. Keeps a good, wide base. Plays with a lot of hustle when going unblocked. Good tackler.

Weaknesses: Not the fastest off the line of scrimmage. Is mostly just a space filler and seems content with that role. Needs to learn to use his hands more to disengage. Not much of a pass rusher and came off the field a lot on obvious passing downs. Lateral agility is poor. Doesn’t have the best frame, even after losing 30 pounds during his career. Technique wanes as the game goes on.

Final word: Troup is a natural nose tackle and will fit right into a 3-4 defense. He may always be a rotational nose, but he’d be a good one. He’s very stout at the point of attack and doesn’t get pushed off the line. He’s not especially quick, so he may be solely a 3-4 player.
