Taylor Price NFL Draft scouting report
Taylor Price
6'0 3/8, 202 pounds | Wide receiver | Ohio
Strengths: Price has excellent speed and really shows it when a cornerback is playing off coverage. Has the deep speed to blow past a defender and get open. Looks to have good hands and caught a lot of passes away from his frame. Possesses great quick-twitch agility to make sudden moves in his route running to get open. Gets up to his top speed quickly. Ran more complex routes than most receivers coming out of college. Worked really hard leading up to his senior season to get bigger and stronger.
Weaknesses: Price needs to do a better job of high-pointing balls and timing his leaps. Has had some troubles against better press coverage cornerbacks. Tends to take too many false steps when jammed. Not the strongest runner after the catch and doesn't break a lot of tackles. Really lacking as a blocker. Not technically sound and doesn't always give the best effort supporting the run. Struggled at times when he had to improvise when his quarterback got in trouble. Has had some very minor hamstring issues during his career.
Final word: Price unfortunately had to be on the receiving ends of one of the nation's worst and most tumultuous passing attacks in the nation. However, he still shone, particularly as a senior. Price is an excellent athlete with great speed. He uses both to get open and make exciting plays happen.
He was a durable player for Ohio, lining up at split end for three years. Was used some on reverses and on special teams.
