New to MTD, here's my 1st mock
Tear it apart, guys....I won't pretend that I know what I'm doing.
- St. Louis (1-15) - Sam Bradford, QB - Yep, on the Bradford-to-Rams bandwagon.
- Detroit (2-14)- Eric Berry, SS- Kong Suh or Okung are strong possibilities, but I wanted to be different. Besides, with the addition of Corey Williams, and the fact that Jeff Backus is still there, Detroit will try and shore up a need with who I believe is the best prospect of the draft.
- Tampa Bay (3-13)- Ndamakong Suh, DT - Tampa Bay gets who they want and they don't even need to trade up for it.
- Washington (4-12)- Russell Okung, OT - With the tender put on Jason Campbell and the retirement of Chris Samuels, this won't be Jimmy Clausen. Do Shanny and Bruce Allen usher in a new era of drafting for talent as opposed to turning to free agency?
- Kansas City (4-12) - Bryan Bulaga, OT - 2nd OT in a row, and a good one too. allows Scott Pioli, a big believer in positional value, to pick up a tackle and let Branden Albert kick back to guard.
- Seattle (5-11) - Gerald McCoy, DT - I doubt a talent like this falls this far, and is too good to pass up here.
- Cleveland (5-11) - Joe Haden, CB - The sexy pick for the Browns...makes too much sense for me to disagree
- Oakland (5-11) - Bruce Campbell, OT - SURPRISE! Lol not really
- Buffalo (6-10)- Anthony Davis, OT - Another cliche pick, but again, they need a replacement for Jason Peters. Jimmy Clausen gets a good, long look here as well.
- Jacksonville (7-9)- Dez Bryant, WR - Mike Sims-Walker is awesome (I know, i picked him up en route to fantasy victory), but Jville could use some more explosiveness in the passing game.
- Denver - from Chicago (7-9)- Dan Williams, NT - I've heard that Denver wants a 1st rd pick for Marshall. While that'd be fair, considering Q Boldin went for basically a 3rd, i don't think it happens. Dan Williams and Justin Bannan solidify their D-line
- Miami (7-9)- Earl Thomas, FS - Signing Karlos Dansby decreases the chances of this being Rolando McClain a little bit. Getting rid of Gibril Wilson makes this pick a bit likelier.
- San Francisco (8-8)- Trent Williams, OT - A talented tackle, he takes over for Tony Pashos. I know that the combine means Sh!t, but don't tell GM's that.
- Seattle - from Denver (8-8)- Jimmy Clausen, QB - I PROMISE I'm not a Seahawk fan. PROMISE lol. This probably doesn't happen, but do you honestly wanna see the same players being mocked to the same teams over and over again.
- New York Giants (8-8) - Rolando McClain, LB - I AM a Giants fan so yes, there was a bit of homerism in this pick.
- Tennessee (8-8)- Derrick Morgan, DE - Ridiculous value. Tennessee, you owe me one.
- San Francisco - from Carolina (8-8)- C.J. Spiller, RB - Too good a value to pass up at this point, plus is a solid pass catching threat from the backfield to complement Frank Gore.
- Pittsburgh (9-7) - Taylor Mays, FS - Don't kill me Steelers fans. I think a tandem of Polamalu and Mays has the potential to be ridiculous, if he doesn't become the next Roy Williams. With Ryan Clark likely not to re-sign, this becomes a position of need, and if there's any place for a young defensive player to develop, its Pittsburgh. It's also too early for any of the remaining CBs in my opinion.
- Atlanta (9-7) - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE - BUST ALERT. If he doesn't bust, though, his upside is through the roof.
- Houston (9-7)- Brian Price, DT - A pass-rushing specialist with a fast first step, many have him ranked as the 3rd best DT in the draft. Houston gets good value here.
- Cincinnati* (10-6)- Jermaine Gresham, TE - Cincy could use an upgrade at the TE position, and Gresham, though has injury concerns, is the best.
- New England* (10-6)- Sergio Kindle, LB - Everybody knows about the Patriots' pass rushing woes. I'm not sold on Brandon Graham just 'cuz of his Senior Bowl performance. Sergio Kindle provides a safer option in my opinion.
- Green Bay* (11-5)-Kyle Wilson, CB - Green Bay needs a cornerback, and Wilson is in a dead heat with Devin McCourty for the 2nd best CB of the draft.
- Philadelphia* (11-5)- Carlos Dunlap, DE - As much as I hate this team, I have an immense amount of respect for them. If anybody can straighten out Dunlap, it will be Philly. He will be used well in Philly's aggressive system.
- Baltimore* (9-7)- Everson Griffin, DE - The Raven's front office is widely regarded as one of the best, and this is why. Great value.
- Arizona* (10-6)- Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE - Hughes helped himself a lot at the combine, and helps out a Cardinals defense that's lost a couple starters as of late.
- Dallas* (11-5)- Mike Iupati, OG/OT - Dallas loves big dudes at the Oline and Iupati is a tough SOB.
- San Diego* (13-3)- Jahvid Best, RB - An electrifying player, will form a nice tandem with Sproles, if SD choses to keep him. Ryan Matthews is another option.
- New York Jets* (9-7)- Brandon Graham OLB/DE - The Jets add a fast rising pass rusher to their squad. Rex Ryan is ecstatic.
- Minnesota* (12-4)- Maurkice Pouncey OG/OC - The Vikings could upgrade Herrera at RG, and Pouncey provides versatility and can play any O-Line position.
- Indianapolis* (14-2) - Jared Odrick DT - The Colts will get more push from this penetrating DT which should help Freeney and Mathis out
- New Orleans* (13-3)- Sean Weatherspoon, OLB - Alot of people are mocking Spoon to NO, and why not. If the glove fits..
ROUND 2
- St. Louis (1-15)- Golden Tate, WR - After a fantastic combine, Tate provides solid value atop round 2.
- Detroit (2-14) - Charles Brown, OT - The Lions get a first round talent and get a solid addition to their Oline
- Tampa Bay (3-13) - Damian Williams, WR - A home run threat to upgrade the passing attack
- Kansas City (4-12) - Nate Allen, FS - I truly believe that he is the 3rd best safety in the draft and this may seem like a reach, but I feel like he will be a great upgrade for this Chiefs secondary.
- Washington (4-12- Ryan Matthews, RB - They have bigger needs, but he's a good value. Clinton Portis is declining.
- Cleveland (5-11)- Arrelious Benn, WR - A solid WR who didn't necessarily have a strong combine, but provides a nice target for Brady Quinn/Derek Anderson.
- Oakland (5-11)- Jacoby For- Just Kidding - Donovan Warren, CB - The Raiders need a solid starter opposite from Nnamdi. Considering the tender giving Routt, I don't think this will be the pick but it should be.
- Seattle (5-11)- Jonathon Dwyer, RB - Seattle gets a great RB to compete with Jones and Forsett
- Buffalo (6-10)- Terrence Cody, NT - They get the fat guy they need to make a successful 3-4 squad.
- Tampa Bay - from Chicago (7-9)- Brandon Ghee, CB - they get an up and coming corner across from Aqib Talib
- Miami (7-9)- Brandon LaFell, WR - Miami gets an upgrade to their passing attack. LaFell fell (haha) because of a poor combine effort.
- New England - from Jacksonville (7-9- Vladimir Ducasse, OG/OT - A bit unpolished, but provides depth for New England's line.
- Denver (8-8) - Corey Wootton, DE - I know they just signed Bannan, but he provides strong value and allows the Broncos to rotate their line.
- New York Giants (8-8)- Lamarr Houston, DT - The defense sucked last year, and part of the problem was underachieving defensive tackles. Hopefully this pick helps.
- New England - from Tennessee (8-8) - Joe McKnight, RB - New England needs help in the running game
- Carolina (8-8) - Demariyous Thomas, WR - Dwayne Jarrett is no good. Thomas falls this far because of the injury.
- San Francisco (8-8)- Chad Jones, SS - A hard hitting safety instantly upgrades SFs secondary
- Kansas City - from Atlanta (9-7)- Aaron Hernandez, TE - Tony Gonzalez's replacement.
- Houston (9-7)- Dominique Franks, CB - They need to replace Dunta Robinson
- Pittsburgh (9-7- Jared Veldheer, OT - Huge and fast, the Steelers can upgrade their OLine
- New England* (10-6)Rob Gronkowski, TE - upgrade at the tight end position
- Cincinnati* (10-6)-Andre Roberts, WR- You guys need to give Ocho Cinco some help
- Philadelphia* (11-5)-Brandon Spikes, LB- Its a Florida party in Philly
- Green Bay* (11-5)Daryl Washington, LB- He falls no more. Matthew n Washington is beastly
- Baltimore* (9-7) Navorro Bowman, LB - A run on LB's, Bowman adds depth and playmaking ability to the Ravens defense.
- Arizona* (10-6) Sean Lee, LB - Could possibly be Dansby's replacement from LB U.
- Dallas* (11-5) Morgan Burnett, SS - Dallas has Gerald Sensabaugh, but Burnett has got too good value to pass up right now.
- San Diego* (13-3) - Arthur Jones, DT - San Diego shores up the D-Line with a strong inside presence in Jones.
- New York Jets* (9-7)- Major Wright, FS - The Jets need a new FS with Kerry Rhodes leaving
- Minnesota* (12-4)- Cam Thomas, DT - He's been flying up draft boards, and could prove useful in that defense.
- Indianapolis* (14-2)Kyle Calloway, OT - The Colts bring in the mauler to compete with Ryan Diem
- New Orleans* (13-3) Torrell Troup, NT - The Saints could use help at the Dline

Would love for it to go down like that
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
I honestly wouldn't be too happy...
but yessir, that’d be pretty solid for you guys

Don’t know if RB early is Shanahan’s style, it seems like he usuallly drafts them later.

I rather get Clausen than Bryant

Indeed.
The Jags wouldn’t pass on McClain or Clausen for Bryant. They’ve had too much trouble with first round WRs, and have a good young core. A potential franchise QB or someone who can lead your defense would come well before a good WR.

good job...
with the Saints’ picks
With the 32nd pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints take... The suspense is killing me!
I'd run around in circles till I passed out if the draft goes this way for the NYG's

Why would the Eagles take Spikes in the 2nd round when we have Stew Bradley coming back? A better choice would of been either Washington or Bowman.
I read somewhere
that stew bradley would fit better as WILL so with spikes he could go there since ya released witherspoon, but maybe i was wrong. my bad on that one, bro

He played SAM in college but the Eagles really like him at MIKE. The only guy that I have seen suggest moving him back to SAM is Ray Didinger but that was only if Gary Brackett got loose.
Also sorry if I sounded like a jackass I didn’t mean too.
nah dude yer good
and point noted….i don’t really know TOO much bout your LB corps except that you need WILL because witherspoon left

I think they released Witherspoon for two reasons. 1) Besides his first game when he played MIKE he didn’t really do anything so they didn’t want to pay $5 million for medicore LB play 2) Akeem Jordan is healthy so they can afford to let him go. We need depth though because with Spoon gone(although Reid said they might bring him back at a lower price) and the possibility of Gaither, Gocong, Trotter, and White gone we definately need depth although I think Gaither and White will be back.
Broncos.
Gotta wonder if the focus in the trenches so far in free agency indicates a lack of faith in the draft crops along the lines… I’d be fine with those picks, though…

Could be...
but to be honest, I really didn’t know what areas needed fixing. I figured Oline u needed some help OG/OC, but nobody was really worth it at your spots for the first two rounds. Alot of ppl keep saying u need to upgrade your ILB corps but I really don’t see it….Andra Davis had a pretty good year, so a high draft pick wasn’t worth it either. And for OLB, are you guys developing Ayers into a rush LB?
I thought you were. so i didn’t really go there. Bannan is a little old, so I figured id go BPA for your 3-4 def. Of course, if Marshall is traded, it changes things radically…

Colts
don’t think they’d take Odrick over Charles Brown. Odrick is a lot like Fili Moala who they just drafted last year, and they have more talent at DT with Muir, Johnson, Moala and Foster than at OT with Johnson Diem and Ugoh.
In the 2nd I’m a fan of Calloway as a guy to drop right in at RT, but I like Saffold better as I think he has serious LT potential, while Calloway is strictly a RT. The guy you have available (I think accidentally) who I’d love in the 2nd is Devin McCourty. You mention him in the write up of the Wilson pick, but then he doesn’t show up again. He’s ahead of Odrick on the list of guys I’d like for Indy in the 1st.

As a Seahawks fan,
I don’t think I have to tell anyone I’d be absolutely ecstatic if we got Gerald McCoy, Jimmy Clausen, and Jonathon Dwyer with our 3 picks in the first 2 rounds.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
No matter how fast he ran at the Combine
Mays isn’t a 1st rd. Iupati or Wilson instead
I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.
I like the mock, I agree with both your Cardinal picks and would really like to see Lee go them in the 2nd…
Also good picks for the Bills, I am not to sure on Davis, but if Buluga is off the board, then that really limits their options…
I was born in Buffalo, and NO, it's not a suburb of New York City
Broken record
Me, and every other Colts fan, would rather have Brown in the first. I say the only way they get out of the first two rounds without someone who can play LT is if they sign sign someone or trade for someone, and with this team that’s rare. I like Calloway. I would’ve gone Brown/Calloway, then all of their o-line needs are, for the time being, met.
Other thoughts:
DET-Like your thinking with Berry, doubt it happens. Safeties rarely go that high, but he’s one who could. If they go outside the box, I think it’s Okung (sorry Backus fans) who they’ve been rumored to be interested in.
CLE-I can’t seem to drop Haden too low, but that combine run could really hurt his stock. I just don’t know who else the Browns go with there. Benn in the second is fine value, but they just got rid of a WR with the dropsies, I doubt they go with another one with so many other needs. In fact, if I’m Cleveland with this scenario I’d probably take Clausen at #7 and Warren or Patrick Robinson in the second.
JAC-I know the Jags could use another weapon, but I think they have three needs that trump that: DE, CB and interior O-line. Besides, Clark is a bit of a headcase. Him and Mike Sims-Walker on the same team may be too much crazy.
"You're hitting the wrong person. Don't you know you're hitting Ron Artest?"

I agree on Jax
However, I don’t know how big a need DE is after our recent signing. I guess we’ll go BAP.
