Perceived team interest doesn't always equate to NFL Draft interest
I love me some Shutdown Corner, but MJD is off base in thinking Tim Tebow won't last through the second round because Buffalo and Seattle are bringing him in for a private workout.
He reasons that if Tebow is being asked to perform a private workout, then there must be high interest in him. Observe:
Has that ever happened before? Can you imagine any other circumstances where an NFL team would say, "Yes, we'd like to have you in for a private workout, even though we can't be sure that you don't plan to be the first granny-style NFL quarterback."
If this were true, Armanti Edwards is set to make some big-time money. The undersized Appalachian State quarterback already has private workouts scheduled with Indianapolis, Miami and Carolina. Heck Indianapolis might have its first two picks settled since they're bringing in Buffalo free safety Mike Newton.
But are Edwards or Newton going to be picked in the first two rounds? Highly unlikely.
Whether Tebow will be isn't totally known. The point is that this isn't uncommon. Teams bring a number of players in for private workouts between the NFL Scouting Combine and the draft. Some teams even bring in groups of players for workouts.
The Tebow workouts are only being mentioned because he's such a lightning rod for both discussion and traffic. Maybe that was MJD's goal – to grab some sweet draft traffic.
Maybe that's the goal of this post? Maybe it is! Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow. Come on traffic! Tebow, Tebow Tebow!

2009 BTB Fantasy Champ... Deal with it
As for your post
I don’t think the Cowboys showed D Ware any interest at all before the draft, but we still drafted him.
2009 BTB Fantasy Champ... Deal with it
This makes sense
But can be disputed. The teams might have an interest in these players, but at the same time they are realistic with where these players are expected to be drafted. Tebow is by all accounts a 3rd round player. It is not out of the realm of possibility for Buffalo and Seattle to know this and try to trade down in the 2nd round to draft him for maximum value. This way they get the jump on the teams thinking he will be there in the third, but also get the player they want. Yes Private workouts do not equate to being drafted, but if the team is expressing an interest in that particular player, the speculation has some merit.
" There is no I in team." Phil Jackson to Michael Jordan
"Yes, but there is in win." Michael Jordan's response
'I have a question." Random Soldier
"Well I have an answer or a damn good lie." SFC Strader
So essentially the story here is
that arguably the two teams in most need of a QB were working out the consensus 3-4 ranked QB in the draft. They’ll be looking at every QB in this draft. But there’s no more evidence that they’ll spend a second round pick on Tebow than there is that they’ll spend a first round pick. This is dumb.
Wow what pretty Tebow lights....
I was driving by and saw you had Tebow lights on, i said to myself i have to stop by and increase traffic.
