Chicago Breaking News: The Bears apparently showed a good amount of interest in Utah's Koa Misi and Zane Beadles at the Utes' pro day on Monday. Once we get our rankings updates on the site, you'll see Miisi among the top 10 outside linebackers.

Deseret News: More notes from the Utah pro day. Among those participating was safety Robert Johnson, who got passed over at the combine. Also see: NFL.com workout notes.

Plain Dealer: Is Kent State tight end Jameson Konz the next Julian Edelman, Josh Cribbs or Antonio Gates? My gut says no. Konz is an athletic marvel, who reportedly has run the 40-yard dash in the 4.4 range. But he's been around 220 pounds his whole career and never been a difference maker. He started at linebacker and played tight end as a senior. He's had injury issues as well. It's a name to keep in mind, but I felt much more sure about Edelman going into last year's draft.

Field Gulls: The risk of signing Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall. This is very good stuff.

Star-divide

PFT: Clemson running back C.J. Spiller will meet with the Bills next week. This is mildly surprising. Marshawn Lynch may have worn out his welcome in Buffalo, but can a team with so many needs go after a player like Spiller? And can Spiller hold up in cold weather? Buffalo is probably just doing its due diligence. Also see: Buffalo Rumblings

Pride of Detroit: A look at a possible trade between Atlanta and Detroit for cornerback Chris Houston.

Blog: Projecting the compensatory draft picks. These won't be announced for at least another week, so check this out. This guy is always pretty close. He projects three third-round picks will be given out.

PittsburghLive: Will Ben Roethlisberger's legal issues force the Steelers to look at a quarterback in April?

Schefty: Eagles trade wide receiver Reggie Brown to Tampa Bay for a 2011 sixth-round pick.

Konz

“But he’s been around 220 pounds his whole career and never been a difference maker.”

I think he’ll weigh in quite a bit bigger (close to 240) at his pro day workout. As for being a difference maker, he was switched around in different positions quite a bit, LB to DE, to TE, to H-back/WR. IMO, he was played out of position by the coaches his first 3 years at Kent State as he was only about 210-215 as a freshman, which is too small to play LB in D-1 football. He should have been playing offense all along given his size and speed.

As for “injury issues”, the only one I’m aware of was the ankle injury that had him miss most of the 2008 season. I don’t know of many D-1 football players who play significant time who haven’t had at least one injury over the course of 4 years. What other injuries are you referring to that Konz had ?
