1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford QB, Oklahoma
Team needs: QB/WR/CB/DE/OLB
Before anyone starts to argue this pick with me I want you to read the following article, because I couldn’t have explained it better myself. http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftdefensivecoaches.php  I’m not going to change this pick from a QB unless the Rams find one in free agency such as Jason Campbell or Michael Vick, or trade for one. Their number one priority has to be to find a new Quarterback. GM’s don’t think to themselves, “We’ll be bad enough to get the top QB next year” and neither do head coaches who only have a very limited time to prove their worth. For a great example of this you only have to look to last year’s draft. Many said that Aaron Curry was much more of a sure thing than Matt Stafford. New Lions coach Jim Schwartz, with a defensive coordinators back ground, still took the QB instead of a top D prospect because he knows that a team starts with a QB. Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh is a great player but he’s not going to single-handedly wins games for them. Even if Suh did win them 5 more games than they would’ve, then they wouldn’t be drafting high enough to get next years top QB Jake Locker. Previously I had the Rams taking Jimmy Clausen but apparently the rumor mill is saying that they are more enamored with Bradford so I’m going with it. Heading into an uncapped year means the Rams can dump Marc Bulger’s salary without any future consequences.

2. Detroit Lions: Russell Okung OT, Oklahoma State
Team needs: OT/CB/OG/SS/DT
What the Lions need most is an impact player. This team needs playmakers everywhere other than QB, TE, and FS. They need a cornerstone LT to protect their 40 million dollar man in Matt Stafford regardless of the faith they say they have in current LT Jeff Backus. Previously I’ve had them taking Ndamukong Suh but with the signing of Kyle Vanden Bosch and the trade for Corey Williams drafting Suh would put far too much money into one area of the team. Okung has distinguished himself as the top OT in the draft with a strong combine showing and would be a great addition to the Lions O-line, and drafting him would allow the Lions to move Backus to LG or RT and in a sense give them 2 upgrades for the price of one. This pick will be either Okung or Suh, with Eric Berry being a very dark horse candidate.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ndamukong Suh DT, Nebraska
Team needs: DT/WR/DE/CB/SS
I’m sure the Bucs will be filled with excitement given they have Suh fall into their laps here which is highly unexpected. With Suh available I can’t see this pick being anyone else. If the Rams or Lions do take him this pick will revert back to Gerald McCoy, although like with the Lions Eric Berry will also be a candidate. Trading back with a pick this high isn’t really much of an option as other teams will not want to pay the amount of guaranteed money expected to a top 3 pick. If the Bills, or more likely the Seahawks, value Jimmy Clausen high enough they would be the only ones to trade up with Tampa but it’s unlikely they would trade back with Suh on the board.

4. Washington Redskins: Jimmy Clausen QB, Notre Dame
Team needs: OT/QB/OG/RB/OLB
Regardless of whether or not you’re a Jason Campbell fan, the fact remains that this team is not winning with him. I know a lot of the problems are because of the injuries to the offensive line but the organization is going to want to start anew with someone like Clausen, especially now that Mike Shanahan is the new head coach. There is a perception that Clausen has an attitude problem, which has been greatly exaggerated by the likes of ESPN’s Todd McShay, that may influence teams from taking him early but I doubt come draft day that anyone would concern themselves with it.  If they decide that want to stick it out for another year with Campbell they will target Bryan Bulaga, Bruce Campbell, or Anthony Davis.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
Team needs: OT/NT/OLB/WR/Safety
Matt Cassell needs a LT that will give him enough time to throw the ball down field. KC spent a lot of money on Cassell and it would be nice if they got a return on their investment. It would also allow them to move 2008 1st round pick Brandon Albert to LG, his natural position, or RT since it doesn't seem like he can make it playing on the left side. Moving Albert to LG means they could slide Brian Waters to center and really solidify that line. If they are somehow still confident that Albert can play LT then this pick would change to Eric Berry or even Rolando McClain, but don’t count out Dan Williams. GM Scott Pioli puts a lot of faith into positional value which is why they went with Tyson Jackson over Aaron Curry last year.

6. Seattle Seahawks: Gerald McCoy DT, Oklahoma
Team needs: OT/DE/QB/RB/WR
Seattle needs an elite pass-rushing talent like McCoy, even if they need it more so from the DE position which is why Derrick Morgan may be an option here. If Okung were available they would probably go for him, but given Bruce Campbell’s injury history and Anthony Davis’ reputation as being inconsistent they will go for McCoy instead. They also have serious issues in the secondary so like many at the top half of the draft, Berry will come into play, but due to the low positional value of Safeties he will yet again slip down one more spot.

7. Cleveland Browns: Eric Berry S, Tennessee
Team needs: CB/Safety/RB/ILB/OLB
Cleveland needs help everywhere except for LT where they have Joe Thomas. With Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen already gone at this point, they will have to wait until the later rounds if they plan on drafting someone to challenge or replace Brady Quinn. They had lucked out in having Berry slip down this far. Berry is an Ed Reed clone and ran a 4.4 40 and posted a 43in vertical at the combine which can only solidify himself as a top player if there were any doubts. As long as he’s on the board I can’t see the Browns taking anyone else.

8. Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbell OT, Maryland
Team needs: OT/DT/CB/DE/OLB
Bruce Campbell secured this pick by measuring in at the combine at a stout 6’6” 314lbs., with 36 1/2in arms, and add to that 34 reps on the bench press and a 4.85 40. That’s enough to make undead Al foam at the mouth. Given Okung’s great combine if he manages to slip this far I believe the Raiders would take him, although given his great combine I doubt he would make it past Seattle. At this point I really can’t see anyone but Campbell being selected here unless Davis goes with Taylor Mays unofficial 40 time of 4.27.

9. Buffalo Bills: Dan Williams NT, Tennessee
Team needs: OT/QB/NT/OLB/ILB
Due to the grumblings about Anthony Davis’ poor combine interviews, and the greater positional value of a NT over an ILB like Rolando McClain, I went with Williams. He would fill one of their biggest needs, especially since they are switching schemes to a 3-4 defense. With the proliferation of the 3-4 over the last few years it’s not hard to see a NT overvalued somewhat, which is why B.J. Raji went so high last year. There’s also an outside chance they may pick Jason Pierre-Paul but it’s unlikely since they selected pass rusher Aaron Maybin in the first round of last years draft.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Earl Thomas S, Texas
Team needs: DE/FS/OG/OC/OLB
The Jags young receiving corps has come on this year and as such seems to be no longer a dire position of need, although they due lack a true number one receiver in which case they make target Dez Bryant. Now that the team has signed Aaron Kampman DE has become a lesser need, as I’m sure they are still holding out hope that Derrick Harvey and Quinton Groves will pan out. Thomas would a replacement and upgrade over the extremely disappointing Reggie Nelson. There’s talk that the Jags are looking to save money so they may look to trade back with a team looking to get Jason Pierre-Paul, Rolando McClain, or one of the available OT’s.

11. Denver Broncos(via Chicago Bears): Dez Bryant WR, Oklahoma State
Team needs: DE/NT/WR/OC/OG
The Broncos have very few holes to fill as they have plenty of young talent that will develop over time but with the likelihood that Brandon Marshall will be in Seattle or somewhere else this coming season they need to draft someone that can be a serious downfield treat. They also need a NT but unfortunately Dan Williams is no longer available, and Rolando McClain may be an option but they already have D.J. Williams and Andra Davis is more than serviceable.

12. Miami Dolphins: Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB, USF
Team needs: OLB/NT/WR/FS/RB
Previously I had them choosing Dez Bryant, but given that he didn’t even participate in the combine drills and there is a perceived notion that like Anthony Davis he has a maturity problem and he’s no longer available, I’m going with JPP. Personally I think he has a high bust rate and have compared him to Vernon Gholston on many occasions as he too is a one year wonder and a workout warrior but with a great combine he has clearly shown that he has the tangibles to be an excellent rusher at the next level. Whether or not he can parlay those skills into actual results remains to be seen. With Dan Williams off the board they will have to wait to replace Jason Ferguson. The signing of Karlos Dansby makes it unlikely they will take Rolando McClain, although with the constant injuries to Channing Crowder it’s not out of the question. With the release of Gibril Wilson their need for a Safety will have to be satisfied sometime within the first 4 rounds.

13. San Francisco 49ers: Trent Williams OT, Oklahoma
Team needs: RT/SS/CB/OG/RS
I know this is a little high for a RT but it fills the 49ers biggest need. Williams is an absolute mauler and if he gets his hands on a defender it’s over. He was a pleasant surprise at the combine, showing more than expected athleticism and running a 4.88 40. The 49ers also need help in the secondary so Joe Haden is an option but OT holds a much greater positional value for them here.

14. Seattle Seahawks (via Denver Broncos): Anthony Davis OT, Rutgers
Neither Walter Jones nor Sean Locklear can seem to stay healthy, with Jones recently announcing his retirement. The knock on Davis is that he doesn’t seem to give a 100% all of the time and he has some maturity problems, but he’s far too athletic and has too much potential for the Hawks to pass him up, especially give their dire need for OT’s. The Hawks may also look for a RB, especially since the electrifying Spiller is still on the board, but they should be able to grab Cal’s Jahvid Best, Georgia Tech’s Jonathan Dwyer, MSU’s Anthony Dixon, or Fresno State’s Ryan Mathews in the 2nd or 3rd round at a greater value.

15. New York Giants: Derrick Morgan DE, Georgia Tech
Team needs: MLB/DT/RT/DE/CB
DT is a much bigger need for the Giants but they simply cannot let a top-10 talent like Morgan pass them by. He’s managed to fall this far due to so many teams now employing a 3-4 defense. They could also use a replacement for Kareem McKenzie who is over 30 and starting to show his age but this need can be addressed in the later rounds. They released MLB Antonio Pierce so McClain is an option but the D line is more highly regarded in their defense. Now that they have given a massive contract to Antrel Rolle they will no longer be targeting Earl Thomas if he’s available.

16. Tennessee Titans: Everson Griffen DE, USC
Team needs: CB/DE/OLB/ DT/OC
Who would have thought that after a 0-6 start that Vince Young would salvage their season? They have multiple needs but Young’s play means they won’t be looking for a QB. Cornerback is probably their biggest need but with such a deep draft at that spot they will address the DE spot which wasn’t able to get much pressure last year. With top CB Joe Haden on the board they will give him serious consideration, especially if he can improve on his abysmal 40 time on his pro day. Thanks to Griffen’s combine performance he has elevated his stock as much as Carlos Dunlap’s stock has dropped.

17. San Francisco 49ers(via Carolina Panthers): Joe Haden CB, Florida
After having taken care of their need for a RT with their first pick, the 49ers find themselves in position to get the top CB to replace a disappointing Dre Bly. Spiller would be an option as he would fill two needs as a pass-catching option on third downs and a boost to their return game. If he’s available Earl Thomas could be an option, but they really need a SS to replace Michael Lewis and Thomas would definitely have to play FS. They may also look at a pass-rusher like Brandon Graham, or Mike Iupati if they don’t take Trent Williams at 13.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Rolando McClain ILB, Alabama
Team needs: FS/OG/ILB/DE/NT
This pick will excite some in Steeler Nation and infuriate others. McClain has seen himself slip due to the wealth of talent in this draft as well as a low positional value for ILB’s as most teams do not value the position nearly as much as the Steelers do. McClain is a natural leader and already has experience playing in a 3-4 defense at Alabama. He would be the perfect replacement to current ILB and defensive Captain James Farrior. We managed to work out a long-term deal with Casey Hampton which means our need for a NT has diminished. Even still, Hampton is 32 years old and signed to a 3-year deal, so if Dan Williams were available he may still be an option. At the combine GM Kevin Colbert stated that the team is looking at players from every position other than QB and TE. With Iupati still on the board he may be considered an option, but ILB is a greater positional value to the Steelers and the organization may feel it has an up-and-comer in last years UDRFA Ramon Foster. But even with the rag-tag group of O-linemen we had we still managed to have the 7th ranked offense in the league. The Steelers greatest needs are on the defensive side of the ball, especially at Safety. Although with the resigning of Ryan Clark and the signing of Will Allen the need isn’t as great. Cornerback could also be another option considering none of the rookies from last year have seemed to distinguish themselves, although the FO may want to wait and see if last years rookies Joe Burnett and Keenan Lewis pan out. Clemson RB C.J. Spiller would be a slightly long-shot option. Willie Parker is not going to be resigned and Spiller would be a great speedy compliment to Mendenhall’s power for a lot less cost than Parker.

19. Atlanta Falcons: Sean Weatherspoon OLB, Missouri
Team needs: DE/OLB/Safety/DT/WR
The Falcons will take the best defensive player available, particularly an OLB or DE. The signing of Dunta Robinson means that CB is no loner a need for them. Weatherspoon is the top OLB suited to play in a 4-3 defense. He managed to impress everyone in the SB practices with his vocal leadership and enthusiasm. During the game he didn’t disappoint, playing sideline to sideline and showing very good man-coverage skills. At the combine he put up the second most bench press reps for a linebacker with 34 as well as the second best vertical jump of 40 inches. If they go the De route Brandon Graham may come into play. They could also consider Dan Williams or even a solid compliment to Roddy White like Dez Bryant considering he is still on the board.

20. Houston Texans: Mike Iupati OG, Idaho
Team needs: CB/FS/OG/DT/RB
They need help in multiple areas, specifically on defense if they let the unhappy Dunta Robinson leave via free agency, and in the interior defensive line after sending former 1st round pick Travis Johnson to the Chargers earlier in the year. Without any of the top safeties, Joe Haden, or Dan Williams available, they will draft Iupati to help an offense that is completely anemic when it comes to picking up short yardage. The Texans could’ve won at least 3 more games this past season if they had a power running game. The Texans resigned Kevin Walter so WR isn’t much of an option for them anymore.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Jermaine Gresham TE, Oklahoma
Team needs: WR/FS/TE/ILB/OG
The Bengals are blessed enough to not really have any dire needs so they can get best player available here. Their only real needs are for WR’s especially after the release of Laveranues Coles, and Safeties. Outside of Chad OchoCinco, none of their WR’s had much of an impact last season. With Dez Bryant already off the board, any other WR would be considered a slight reach. Their 3rd biggest need is for a pass-catching TE, which is something Carson Palmer has never had.

22. New England Patriots: Jared Odrick DT/DE, PSU
Team needs: OLB/CB/DE/WR/RB
After the Richard Seymour trade to Oakland, the Patriots defense suffered greatly. Odrick is a great 3-technique DT that has the size and strength to convert to 3-4 DE much like Seymour did when he came out of college. The Patriots also need more youth and depth in their linebacking corps. Given how much the Patriots like to trade back, it would actually surprise me if they keep this pick, especially considering how deep the talent pool is in this draft.

23. Green Bay Packers: Charles Brown OT, USC
Team needs: OT/CB/Safety/OG/DE
The Packers have had to compensate for the lack of talent at OT by adjusting their scheme to keep TE’s in to block. Adding some OT depth would really help open up that potent offense. After losing Aaron Kampman to free they may consider Jerry Hughes and Brandon Graham who are both still on the board. Green Bay also needs to start looking at replacements for their aging secondary but will find better value for the in the next 2 rounds.

24. Philadelphia Eagles: Carlos Dunlap DE, Florida
Team needs: DE/OLB/FS/CB/OT
Look for the Eagles to take the top DE or Linebacker prospect available. They need to fill the DE spot opposite of Trent Cole. Carlos Dunlap has had his work ethic and love of the game questioned but he’s just the sort of big lineman that Andy Reid loves and perhaps Reid and others can get Dunlap to mature. They also need a replacement for the hugely disappointing Sean Jones as well as some O line depth.

25. Baltimore Ravens: Kyle Wilson CB, Boise State
Team needs: CB/TE/DE/WR/OC
With the newly acquired Anquan Boldin WR is no longer a dire need for the Ravens, although they may still look for one in the later rounds. Now the Ravens are free to take the best player available at CB given that Jermaine Gresham is already off the board. Wilson gives them the #1 corner they have been lacking since Chris McAlister. With Gresham, DE Jared Odrick, and the trade for Boldin I really can’t see this pick being anything other than CB except for maybe Brandon Graham if they don’t feel Paul Kruger can develop into a 3-4 pass-rusher.

26. Arizona Cardinals: Brandon Graham DE/OLB, Michigan
Team needs: OT/OLB/ILB/OC/NT
Arizona’s biggest need has been for a LT. They drafted Levi Brown a couple years ago but he has struggled on the left side. Now that Matt Leinart, a lefty, is at the helm with the retirement of Warner they may wait on a LT. Outsider linebackers Haggans, Okeafor, and Berry are all 33 years old or older so they will definitely be upgrading with Graham who had a spectacular showing at the combine and SB, showing a variety of pass-rushing moves and looking a lot like Broncos OLB Elvis Dumervil. With the extra picks they acquired from Baltimore in the trade for Anquan Boldin I would expect them to package them with this pick to move up for one of the elite Tackle prospects.

27. Dallas Cowboys: Taylor Mays S, USC
Team needs: OT/FS/OG/NT/ILB
Without any of the big O linemen left, they will have to draft Mays to replace an underwhelming Ken Hamlin. Taylor Mays has seen his stock soar and plummet over and over again. He takes poor angles in coverage which is definitely a cause for concern. Due to an unofficial 4.27 40 time at the combine his stock has seen a resurgence. They may consider speedster Golden Tate to play slot receiver because of his ability to stretch the field.

28. San Diego Chargers: C.J. Spiller RB, Clemson
Team needs: NT/RB/DE/ FS/CB
After tagging RFA LT Marcus McNeill, what the Chargers need most besides a NT to replace the aging Jamal Williams who was recently cut is a RB even though they tendered Darren Sproles because of the release of LaDainian Tomlinson. Williams will most likely be resigned at a more reasonable price. Unfortunately the only NT with a 1st round grade is already taken. I think that General Manager A.J. Smith is too smart to gamble on “Mount” Cody with a 1st round pick given that it’s become highly probably that he’ll eat himself out of the league in a couple years. Spiller is exceptionally fast, fluid in catching the ball, and just the sort of RB the Chargers covet.

29. New York Jets: Jerry Hughes OLB, TCU
Team needs: DE/OLB/WR/FS/NT
With the Jets trade for Antonio Cromartie to play opposite Darrell Revis, their greatest needs become a DE considering Shaun Ellis is coming off of an injury and Marques Douglas is a free agent and both are 33 years old, and a rush linebacker. They go with Hughes to replace 1st round bust Vernon Gholston since Jared Odrick is already off the board. There’s also a slight chance they would draft Golden Tate to add weapons for Mark Sanchez.

30. Minnesota Vikings: Devin McCourty CB, Rutgers
Team needs: CB/FS/MLB/OG/DT
The Vikings will look to shore up the few weak points on a very strong defense. Current starters Griffin (torn ACL) and Winfield (Foot) are both nursing injuries. Before the combine McCourty graded out as a solid 2nd round prospect, but after running the fastest 40 time (4.34) of any DB and looking very fluid in the drills he’s managed to catapult himself into the number 2 CB slot. The Vikings could also consider FS Nate Allen, MLB Daryl Washington, or OG/OC Maurkice Pouncey. In the later rounds I expect them to draft a RB to replace Chester Taylor.

31. Indianapolis Colts: Brian Price DT, UCLA
Team needs: OT/DT/OG/DE/Safety
Without any cornerstone LT’s left, which is their biggest need, the Colts will focus on defense. I know the Colts do not typically invest early round picks on defense but it’s about time that they start. They are really lacking depth at DT and Price is a great 3 technique player. Like Derrick Morgan, Price is the victim of the proliferation of the 3-4 defense. They may continue the trend of drafting offense in the 1st in which case they would go for Maurkice Pouncey to shore up a weak point at OG where Mike Pollack was lacking all year. Now that they have resigned Gary Brackett, MLB is no longer an issue for them.

32. New Orleans Saints: LaMarr Houston DT, Texas
Team needs: DE/DT/OLB/Safety/OC
With an already formidable offense the Saints will look to upgrade a defense that was hot and very cold all season long. Their biggest need is probably a DE to replace Charles Grant, but without any of the 1st round talent left they will choose to find someone to pair with Sedrick Ellis. Houston went from being a complete unknown at the beginning of the season to possibly being a late 1st round pick thanks to a great showing in the BCS championship as well as at the combine. They may also consider USF FS Nate Allen if they do not resign Darren Sharper.

 Round 2:

33. St. Louis Rams: Golden Tate WR, Notre Dame
Now that the Rams have their QB of the future they need weapons for him to throw the ball to.

34. Detroit Lions: Ryan Mathews RB, Fresno State
Kevin Smith had a serious ACL tear and may not be ready for the start of the season. They have greater needs in the secondary but with plenty of CB depth in the draft this is a BPA situation. Mathews had the best combine performance of any RB in my opinion. He ran a 4.4 40 and looked very solid in catching the ball.

35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Damian Williams WR, USC
The Bucs need WR’s to help the progression of young QB Josh Freeman. Michael Clayton has been underwhelming so far in his career and Antonio Bryant is not going to be retained.

36. Kansas City Chiefs: Terrence Cody DT, Alabama
Even though he may eat himself out of the league in a couple years, which is why he’s slipped out of the 1st round to begin with, the Chiefs are not going to pass up the chance to solidify their defensive front with someone who is could be a dominant 2-down NT.  

37. Washington Redskins: Maurkice Pouncey OG/OC, Florida
With a new QB in hand, it’s time to rebuild that ancient O line. Pouncey is versatile enough to play Center, Guard, or possibly even Right Tackle.

38. Cleveland Browns: Chris Cook CB/FS, Virginia
They need a solid #2 corner across from Eric Wright.

39. Oakland Raiders: Jeff Owens DT, UGA
Jeff Owens did 44 reps on the bench press which makes him a steal in the second round in the eyes of the Crypt Keeper.

40. Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Dixon RB, MSU
They need better RB’s than Justin Forsett and Julius Jones.

41. Buffalo Bills: Rodger Saffold OT, Indiana
The Bills need OT’s and pick up a prospect that showed off his great athleticism at the combine.

42. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (via Chicago Bears): Patrick Robinson CB, FSU
Known for playing soft in his final season but played a great game at the Senior Bowl. He would be an upgrade and successor to Rhonde Barber, as well as make a formidable tandem with Aqib Talib.

43. Miami Dolphins: Nate Allen FS, USF
The Dolphins need a replacement for Gibril Wilson.

44. New England Patriots (via Jacksonville Jaguars): Arrelious Benn WR, Illinois
Welker may not make it back by the start of the season and Moss isn’t getting any younger.

45. Denver Broncos: Alex Carrington DT/DE, Arkansas State
They fill their need with a 5-technique DE.

46. New York Giants: Brandon Spikes ILB, Florida
With the release of Antonio Pierce they need a replacement now.

47. New England Patriots (via Tennessee Titans): Sergio Kindle DE/OLB, Texas
The Patriots need pass-rushers and Kindle is the sort of versatile player that Belichick loves.

48. Carolina Panthers: Brandon LaFell WR, LSU
Team needs: WR/DT/OG/DE/OT
Now that Jake Delhomme has been released and Matt Moore will be the starting QB next season, they need someone to throw to besides Steve Smith. LaFell drops considerably due to a poor 40 time but is a solid possession receiver and a very underrated downfield blocker.

49. San Francisco 49ers: Vladimir Ducasse OG, UMass
Just the sort of big, run-blocking lineman Coach Singletary loves.

50. Kansas City Chiefs (via Atlanta Falcons): Dexter McCluster RB/WR Ole’ Miss.
McCluster had a great week of SB practices, showing off his amazing speed and cutback ability. Personally I think this is a little high for him, but some team is going to view him as the next Percy Harvin.

51. Houston Texans: Brandon Ghee CB, Wake Forest
They need DB help, especially since they let Dunta Robinson go.

52. Pittsburgh Steelers: Morgan Burnett FS, Georgia Tech
Will Allen really isn’t the right fit and may only be a stop-gap solution. My guess is that he was signed when the team thought that resigning Ryan Clark wasn’t going to happen. Now that it has, I think the team will try to find a successor to Clark and cut Allen before the start of the season.

53. New England Patriots: Mike Johnson OG, Alabama
Stephen Neal has missed multiple games in the last few years and it’s probable he might retire.

54. Cincinnati Bengals: Carlton Mitchell WR, USF
They need some WR’s besides OchoCinco, even if they do sign T.O. Mitchell is very raw but has the size and speed to develop into an eventual number one WR.

They fill their second biggest need for youth in the secondary.

They fill their 2nd biggest need with a successor to Todd Heap.

The Cards pick up a tackle prospect that played just as well as Bryan Bulaga in the Orange Bowl.

59. Dallas Cowboys: Jamar Chaney ILB, Miss. State
Keith Brooking is 35 years old and Chaney has greater value than reaching for Darrell Stuckey or Jared Veldheer.

60. San Diego Chargers: Cam Thomas, NT, UNC
They find a replacement for the recently released and aging Jamaal Williams.

61. New York Jets: Corey Wootton DE, Northwestern
Ellis and Douglas are both 33 years old, with Ellis coming off of an injury and Douglas a pending free agent.

62. Minnesota Vikings: Chad Jones SS, LSU
He would be an upgrade over Madieu Williams.

63. Indianapolis Colts: Jon Asamoah OG, Illinois
The Colts need a replacement for Mike Pollack.

64. New Orleans Saints: Daryl Washington OLB, TCU
Scott Shanle is a liability against the run. Washington was an ILB in college but has stated his desire to play WLB in the pros.

Round 3:

65. St. Louis Rams: Aaron Hernandez TE, Florida
Now that they have a QB they need a safety valve for him. Randy McMichael will probably not be retained.

66. Detroit Lions: Reshad Jones SS, Georgia
Jones had an excellent combine workout and would pair nicely with Louis Delmas.

67. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Darrell Stuckey SS, Kansas
At this point their two biggest needs are for a DE and SS. It would be a big reach for any of the DE’s available and Stuckey had a nice combine.

68. Kansas City Chiefs: Rickey Sapp DE/OLB, Clemson
They need a pass-rusher to play opposite of Tamba Hali.

69. Oakland Raiders: Mitch Petrus OG, Arkansas
Oakland needs an OG and Petrus put up 44 reps on the bench press, which makes him a steal in the 3rd as far as Al Davis is concerned.

70. Philadelphia Eagles (via Seattle Seahawks): A.J. Edds OLB, Iowa
Chris Gocong is not suited to play in a 4-3 defense. Edds is a solid strong side linebacker.  

71. Cleveland Browns: Koa Misi DE/OLB, Utah
David Bowens is good but he’s 32 years old and they need someone to push Kamerion Wimbley. Misi is another player who benefited from a great showing in the SB practices.

72. Buffalo Bills: Jevan Snead QB, Ole’ Miss.
The Bills need to bring someone in to challenge Trent Edwards.

73. Miami Dolphins: Torrell Troup DT, Central Florida
Jason Ferguson is a 34 year old free agent.

74. Jacksonville Jaguars: J.D. Walton OC, Baylor
Brad Meester is 33 years old and they could use an upgrade to create running lanes for MJD.

75. Chicago Bears: Tyson Alualu DT, Cal
Team needs: OG/FS/ DE/DT/OC
Value pick, they need DT depth especially with Tommy Harris’ injury history.

76. New York Giants: Tony Washington OT, Abilene Christian
They need a replacement at RT.    

77. Tennessee Titans: Navarro Bowman OLB, PSU
Both Keith Bullock and David Thornton ended last season on injured reserve. The Titans may end up cutting the 33 year old Bullock.

78. Carolina Panthers: Linval Joseph DT, East Carolina
They need youth and depth on the interior defensive front as well as a pass-rush presence.

79. San Francisco 49ers: Jahvid Best RB, Cal
They need a pass-catching 3rd down back that can also be a return specialist.   

80. Denver Broncos: Matt Tennant OC, Boston College
Casey Wiegmann is 36 years old and no longer fits the blocking scheme in Denver.

81. Houston Texans: Toby Gerhart RB, Stanford
This pick should be a given. They desperately need a short-yardage power back.

82. Pittsburgh Steelers: Donovan Warren CB, Michigan
At this pick, it is too early for John Jerry or any of the DE prospects left on the board. Warren had an awful combine which has caused him to spiral downward, but he’s a good player and would be a solid #2 CB to play across from Ike Taylor.

83. Atlanta Falcons: Austin Lane DE, Murray State
The Falcons fill their second biggest need which is to replace former 1st round bust Jamaal Anderson.

84. Cincinnati Bengals: Mardy Gilyard WR, Cincinnati
Even after taking a WR in the 2nd round, they still need depth at the position. Gilyard is a hometown guy would be the perfect slot receiver.  

85. Oakland Raiders (via New England Patriots): Jacoby Ford WR, Clemson
Ford ran the fastest 40 at the combine, enough said.   

86. Green Bay Packers: Marshall Newhouse OG, TCU
LG Jason Spitz is coming off of back surgery and they need interior O line depth.  

87. Philadelphia Eagles: Major Wright FS, Florida
Sean Jones was a huge disappointment last year.

88. Arizona Cardinals (via Baltimore Ravens): Dominique Franks CB, Oklahoma
They need CB depth and Bryant McFadden did not have that great of a first year. Franks has a nice size/speed combination.

89. Arizona Cardinals: Sean Lee ILB, PSU
They really need ILB depth, especially after losing Dansby to FA.

90. Dallas Cowboys: Jared Veldheer OT, Hillsdale
He’s the kind of giant O lineman the Cowboys prefer.   

91. San Diego Chargers: Akwasi Owusu-Ansah CB, IUP
They need CB depth after trading Antonio Cromartie to the Jets.  

92. Cleveland Browns (via New York Jets): Pat Angerer ILB, Iowa
They need someone to pair with D’Qwell Jackson on the inside.

93. Minnesota Vikings: Jonathan Dwyer RB, Georgia Tech
The Vikings let Chester Taylor walk in free agency. Dwyer had a poor combine which is why he’s slipped this far but would be a good value pick here.

94. Indianapolis Colts: Jason Fox OT, Miami
This may be a bit of a gamble given Fox’s knee injury, but if not for the injury he would be an early 2nd round selection. Fox is the type of lean, athletic lineman the Colts prefer and if his knee passes the physical he could become the franchise LT they’ve been missing.

95. New Orleans Saints: Willie Young DE, N.C. State
The Saints find a replacement for Charles Grant.  

Round 4:

96. St. Louis Rams: Dekota Watson OLB, FSU
This starts the defensive overhaul.

97. Detroit Lions: Javier Arenas CB, Alabama
Arenas could be a good #2 or nickel CB as well as serve as their top RS given that Dennis Northcutt isn’t doing very well.  

98. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Demaryius Thomas WR, Georgia Tech
They continue to rebuild the WR corps to help their young QB. They have a bigger need for a DE but anyone left would be a reach.

99. Kansas City Chiefs: Larry Asante SS, Nebraska
Since they cut Bernard Pollard I can’t name a single safety on their roster without having to look it up.

100. Washington Redskins: Montario Hardesty RB, Tennessee
Given that they are talking to Willie Parker, this pick might change but they need someone to back-up Clinton Portis. Hardesty is a one-cut back much like Portis and would be the perfect style runner for Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme.  

101. Seattle Seahawks: Andre Roberts WR, Citadel
Outside of T.J., they really don’t have any other WR to throw the ball to. Roberts put himself on the map with a great week at the Senior Bowl.

102. Cleveland Browns: Joe McKnight RB, USC
They need RB depth.

103. Oakland Raiders: LeRoy Vann CB/KR Florida A&M
This is incredibly high for him as he is graded as a very late round prospect, but he’ll probably run a 4.3 40 at his pro day and he’s returned 11 kicks back for TD’s in the last 2 years.

104. Buffalo Bills: Jason Worilds OLB, Va. Tech
The Bills need to a pass-rusher to play opposite of Aaron Maybin.   

105. Jacksonville Jaguars: Tim Tebow QB/H-back, Florida
Yes I know. But in the 4th round there’s good value to be had, not in him so much as the number of tickets the Jags will sell because of his presence.

106. Chicago Bears: Daniel Te’o-Nesheim DE, Washington
Even with the signing of Peppers they are thin at DE.

107. Miami Dolphins: Jimmy Graham TE, Miami
By an unintended fluke I’ve managed to mock 4 players from the state of Florida to the Dolphins. They need a pass-catching TE. Graham is an excellent athlete who had a great combine.

108. Tennessee Titans: Perry Riley OLB, LSU
They need LB depth as they continue to rebuild their defense.

109. Carolina Panthers: John Jerry, Ole’ Miss.
They need a replacement for RG Keydrick Vincent.  

110. San Francisco 49ers: Taylor Price WR, Ohio
They need a slot receiver and Price is a little faster than Jeremy Williams, Riley Cooper, or Jordan Shipley.

111. Denver Broncos: Tony Pike QB, Cincinnati
They tendered Kyle Orton but they will need depth behind him. Pike will take some time to develop and add bulk, but he has the potential to be a quality starter in the pros.

112. New York Giants: D’Anthony Smith DT, Louisiana Tech
They need could use some DT depth.

113. Pittsburgh Steelers: LeGarrette Blount RB, Oregon
This is a little high for Blount, as he is rated as an early 5th round pick, but he most likely would not have been available when the Steelers pick again. If he interviews well he could be the short-yardage back the Steelers have been missing.

114. Atlanta Falcons: Riley Cooper WR, Florida
The Falcons need a solid #2 receiver besides Michael Jenkins.

115. Houston Texans: Robert Johnson FS, Utah
They need someone to play opposite of Bernard Pollard.

116. New England Patriots: Ben Tate RB, Auburn
They need a replacement for Laurence Maroney.

117. Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Jefferson CB, Fresno State
They need a solid nickel corner.

118. Philadelphia Eagles: Roddrick Muckelroy OLB, Texas
They can’t continue to depend on Jeremiah Trotter for linebacker depth. Muckelroy is versatile enough to play inside or outside.

119. Green Bay Packers: Myron Rolle SS, FSU
Atari Bigby is a good SS but he’s always hurt.  

120. Ney York Jets (from Arizona Cardinals via Baltimore Ravens): Kurt Coleman S, Ohio State
They need to replace the recently traded Kerry Rhodes.

121. Arizona Cardinals: John Skelton QB, Fordham
They can continue to tout their confidence in Matt Leinart but they need someone just in case he doesn’t come through, or at least to challenge him.  

122. Dallas Cowboys: Sergio Render OG, Va. Tech
 Another big lineman the Cowboys will love.

123. San Diego Chargers: Vince Oghobaase DT/DE, Duke
Louis Castillo misses a lot of games.

124. Philadelphia Eagles (via New York Jets): Ed Wang OT, Va. Tech
They need O line depth and Andy Reid loves his big linemen.   

125. Minnesota Vikings: Arthur Jones DT, Syracuse
If Pat Williams retires they will have a hole on the defensive front, and even if he doesn’t they still need depth.  

126. Indianapolis Colts: Rennie Curran OLB, Georgia
If Curran were just a little bit bigger he would be a 1st round pick, as it stands now he’s a perfect fit for the Colts cover-2.

127. New Orleans Saints: Harry Coleman S, LSU
Even if they do resign Darren Sharper they still need depth behind him.
