With the 23rd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, The Green Bay Packers select.... Anthony Davis, OT, Rugters!

 

 

MaxwellsDemon says- "Aaron Rodgers was able to shred some of the best defenses in the league, despite the fact that he was constantly being sacked, 50 times to be exact, tied for most in the NFL, imagine what he could do if he didn’t have to run all the time. With that mentality I went into this pick looking for the player who could make the biggest impact in protecting the key to this Green Bay offense, and Anthony Davis to me is the best OT available and even in this draft which is deep in offensive lineman, Davis is still top tier talent.

Davis is a huge player, 6’5", 323 pounds and long arms. He has all the physical requirements to be a starting lineman in the league, but due to some attitude problems, his work ethic is often in question. Attitude problems may raise issues, but I don’t think it will be too big of a problem; this type of thing can be controlled. But despite personality problems, Davis is an incredible athlete who is quick enough to contain the edge, but strong enough to hold down inside. For such a large man is quite quick on his feet and has pretty good pop off the snap. With his size he can also push downfield and pick up any linebackers with relative ease after opening a lane for the run. He has made the comment that he likes the "clean-up" work as the play moves down field.

He has good body control and is a strong pocket protector; rarely will he lose his defender or allow one to slip by. With a strong competitive edge and somewhat of a mean streak, he has shown that the longer the game gets the more aggressive he gets, especially against players who beat him earlier. With a little technical work to polish his stance, he is usually to high up, he could start this next season. While he lacks superior explosiveness, strength, and skill, he has a high ceiling and has lots of raw potential."

 

With the 24th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, The Philedelphia Eagles select.... Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State!

MeanGreen5 says- "The draft is deep with solid Safties, OL, and LBs. Not so much at CB. Corner is our most pressing need and Robinson would do well under Jeuron. All of the play makers at CB will be gone after the 1st rd. We need to make this pick. Next would probably be G/C, then OLB, lastly Safety."

 

With the 25th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, The Baltimore Ravens select Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State!

 

Malor says- "It was very surprising to see such a talent like Bryant drop all the way down to 25, where I had to take him. Bryant is a stud WR in my opinion. Trying to think like Ozzie, the best player available was selected here and man does that make a dangerous WR group. Bryant is one of the best athletes in this years draft and a home run type player at WR. Has already had personal meetings with Baltimore. Great at catching balls in traffic and can adjust to any area the ball is thrown, so he is not afraid to go across the middle. Wins nearly every jump ball thrown his way. Has the ability to make nearly every route look exactly the same. Incredible burst and elusiveness for a player his size. Was an incredible return man in college. Only knock on Bryant was his consistency and work ethic, which may be a reason he could slip to Baltimore at 25 come April."

 

 

With the 26th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, The Arizona Cardinals select.... Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland!

 

LPeterson says- "The Cardinals took some big hits in free agency, losing Antrel Rolle and Karlos Dansby,  traded Anquan Boldin plus the retirement of Kurt Warner and Bertrand Berry.  They will probably not resign free agents Chike Okeafor or starting LT Mike Gandy. Mike Gandy, who is in his 30s, gave up eight sacks and eight penalties before landing on IR. His Backup Jeremy Bridges played relatively well in relief of Gandy at first, but was exposed as the year progressed. The Cards  were quick to react to the loss of Rolle by trading for Kerry Rhodes and have added LBs through free agency and do have some depth there.  They have depth at WR and Matt Leinart at QB.  However their left tackle situation has gone untouched. GM Rod Graves said the club may move Levi Brown to left tackle, but Arizona still needs to address the position in the draft. Leinart is left handed so the RT takes on more importance. If the Cards are going to protect Leinart  they need to start by improving up front. Bruce Campbell was a NFL Scouting Combine superstar.  He has outstanding size, speed and athletic ability. He is a high risk/reward type of player. He possesses an impressive combination of power and balance on contact and can create a push and stay on blocks. He has the athleticism to turn opposing linemen away from the play but struggles to consistently generate movement as an in-line guy. Overall, Campbell displays an impressive set of physical tools and possesses more upside than any other tackle in the draft. The Cards have an outstanding OL coach in Russ Grim who will coach him up.  The Cards have a need - Campbell has elite athleticism to good for the Cards to pass up to fill this need."

 

With the 27th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select.... Nate Allen, FS, South Florida!

 

Static says- "This was actually a very tough decision to make. In my eyes, this is very much a doomsday situation for the Cowboys. Almost every single guy they like is gone and I would be searching for a trade partner to try to move back and pick up some extra picks. Since we can’t do that, I had to weigh my options. A lot of people would see that Taylor Mays is available and think that it would be a great catch for the Cowboys, and I’d have to tell you that you’re wrong.  We have a good SS already, which is what Mays would have to be and then we would still have a gaping hole at FS. Not to mention I don’t see him as much of an NFL player, but he is definitely a freak of an athlete.

The next BPA in the list is Jason Pierre-Paul, another guy most would love, but I would hate. He wouldn’t be starting for the Cowboys for at least the next 3 to 4 years because he would be behind Ware and Spencer. That doesn’t seem like a good idea for a first rounder to be a back up, especially when you have good backups already.

This brings me to Nate Allen, he is a complete FS and has the potential to start almost immediately. He is a smart football player and has the leadership abilities that made Ken Hamlin so hard to get rid of despite his poor couple of seasons, stat wise. The Cowboys have a gaping hole at FS and I think Nate Allen would allow everyone to sleep a little better at night. He is a great player and a great fit for the Cowboys and will eventually fill the void left by Hamlin in the leadership department. He also is pretty dang close to the BPA given how this draft has unfolded."
