Neverending site news
There's a lot of activity going on here at MTD leading up to the draft next Thursday.
We're calling it a year on player evaluation after getting full reports on all of our top 100 players. You can also access the scouting reports from our positional rankings. The write-ups in those have finally been touched up.
These wouldn't have been possible without our partnership with New Era Scouting. I believe they're gathering all the reports and some other goodies in PDF form and selling it for $5. So if that's your sort of thing, check it out. Also thanks to Der Jaeger and darwithabar for helping out on a few. I'll always contest that you don't get free content like this anywhere else.
One of our guys, Jon Dove, left the site to help run NFLMocks.com. Good for him. He did the thankless work of team needs leading up to the draft. He also handled the popular Bust-o-Meter posts.
When Jon left, I immediately put up a "now hiring" post. Within an hour, a dozen people applied. If you're interested, email me and maybe we can figure something out.
In the last few days, we started adding some folks to the site, with more to come. They are:
- JP 23: He's run the uber-popular site-wide mock drafts and I was pretty happy to see him want to do more with the site. He's going to take on a lot of hats, and I expect him to do well.
- TheAngelsColts: As you know, he's run the site-wide mocks with JP. He's going to handle some moderating duties, so his gig at MTD will be pretty intense during draft weekend.
- J.V. Siegel: J.V. is going to be one of our news guys, responsible for finding and sharing the latest happenings as they relate to the draft.
- Conjunction: One of the things we're going to be doing during the draft's "offseason" is NFL evaluation. Among some other things, Conjunction will be doing a lot of stuff here.
We're going to have some guys start after the draft wraps up this year, so stay tuned for that. If you emailed me and are confused by anything, drop me another line.
Hiring new people does not mean I'll be taking on less work at MTD. We'll just have more content up than ever.
At some point last week we passed 1 million visits and 2 million page views. These figures have become commonplace for the SB Nation NFL blogs. But unlike the other sites, MTD doesn't benefit as much from link deals with Yahoo, CBS Sports, USA Today or the other SBN partnerships. So big thanks to everyone who comes to the site and turned it on to other people.
Speaking of turning people onto the site, you guys might have to for the mock draft contest to go live. We have 15 entrants so far. Counting my mock, we still need 34 more for my money to be up for grabs. I'm keeping track of the entries in the left rail. If I missed you, let me know. Sometime next week we'll get the Mr. Irrelevant contest going as well.
This week we'll be winding down the SB Nation writers mock. Let me tell you, I almost didn't want to do it this year. Things with the site and my personal life were really busy. Fortunately, Brian Galliford from Buffalo Rumblings manned up and wanted to help out. Huge, huge, huge thanks to Brian. There's a couple surprise picks coming up, so watch out.
Man, that's a lot happening here. Oh yeah, don't forget that BigBlueShoe will be representing the site directly from Radio City Music Hall next week! I'll be on the site all weekend from home.
And always remember, if you have a suggestion for what you want MTD to become or think we need to do better, just let me know. This is a community site, not some dictatorship. Although, you may kiss my feet if you'd like. Peasant.

Thanks for all the work, Dan
I always try to link you guys in my stuff over at TST.
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
Did I link to half of a URL on an Iraqi oil auction?
Yes. Yes I did.
