* Contest Mock Draft
Here are my predictions, which are probably wrong. Feel free to complain as you want.
1. St. Louis – Sam Bradford, QB: With Bulger gone and AJ Feeley on the roster is their really any other choice?
2. Detroit – Russel Okung, OT: To be successful your QB must not die! Since Millen isn't there, they might actually consider that this year.
3. Tampa Bay – Ndamukong Suh, DT: TB has been just waiting to see which way Detroit went. They will jump on Suh like Suh would jump on a free pancake day at IHOP.
4. Washington – Bryan Bulaga, OT: Will work perfectly in Shanahan's zone blocking scheme. Plus they have to give McNabb time to underthrow his receivers.
5. Kansas City – Eric Berry, S: KC needs safety help. Berry is the safety. Easiest equation ever.
6. Seattle – CJ Spiller, RB: They need an OT. They will draft another offensive weapon.
7. Cleveland – Gerald McCoy, DT: He is without a doubt the BPA and is also in a position of need. Goodbye Kenyon Coleman.
8. Oakland – Bruce Campbell, OT: I'm tempted to have Al Davis make a sane pick, because that would truly be insane. However, no. The zombie king shall continue to draft players too fast for him to catch and eat.
9. Buffalo – Jimmy Clausen, QB: Chan Gailey's first big faliure as the new head coach of the Bills. Check.
10. Jacksonville – Derrick Morgan, DE: Jacksonville takes the best rated DE. It's not gonna help them sell tickets, but I am sure he has always wanted to play for LA.
11. Denver – Dez Bryant, WR: Denver is already missing it's diva WR. Here they go.
12. Miami – Earl Thomas, S: Yeremiah Bell can tackle, now they can get the ball hawking safety they need.
13. San Francisco – Joe Haden, CB: While they need to improve their O Line they don't want to reach to do so. Harris is questionable after coming back from injury and Spencer was less then impressive. Haden to the rescue.
14. Seattle – Trent Williams, OT: Let me introduce their franchise...RT?
15. New York Giants - Rolando McClain, LB: Their LB corp is actually worse then my beloved Eagles. Start with the middle to get better.
16. Tennessee – Jason Pierre-Paul, DE: DL is definately the call here, and Pierre-Paul's physicall gifts will be the reason he gets drafted at this spot. Not sure how effective it will be trying to backflip to the QB every play, though.
17. San Francisco – Dan Williams, DT: Still not willing to reach for OT, so go with BPA. William's is that player.
18. Pittsburgh – Mike Iupati, OG: To keep Rothliesberger from getting his head slammed into the ground so many times, he thinks it's a good idea to invite random, money hungry women into a secluded area, you have to give him an O-Line. Starting here is a good option.
19. Atlanta – Brandon Graham, DE: Picking Jamaal Anderson was a mistake. Brandon Graham, is not.
20. Houston – Kyle Wilson, CB: Since they allowed Dunta to walk, they need a corner to replace that non-production. They get one even better.
21. Cincinnati – Jermaine Gresham, TE: Passing game was terrible last year. This gives another option for Palmer to miss.
22. New England – Sergio Kindle, LB: New England finally figured out their linebackers can not, in fact, play forever. They start to get some new ones.
23. Green Bay – Anthony Davis, OT: Aaron Rodgers can be something great if they keep him on his feet. They draft the NFL's first diva OT.
24. Philadelphia – Devin McCourty, CB: We already have a CB that likes to get burnt while going for the pick, we need a stabilizing cover guy on the other side. McCourty is that guy.
25. Baltimore – Taylor Mays, S: Physical freak goes to the place where defense is king. He can learn some coverage techniques from Ed who is at the end of his ropes.
26. Arizona – Terrence Cody, NT: This pick just makes too much sense. Becomes Docketts new best friend right away.
27. Dallas – Charles Brown, OT: The O-line is old, Flozell is gone. They will get it restarted with this man. I now hate him.
28. San Diego – Ryan Matthews, RB: Darren Sproles is not a feature back. Ryan Matthews is.
29. New York Jets – Jared Odrick, DT: Will fit into their 3-4 scheme at DE like OJ's hand fit that glove. Wait the glove didn't fit? Well Odrick does.
30. Minnesota – Sean Weatherspoon, LB: How the hell can their defense get any better? Well drafting Weatherspoon is a good start.
31. Indianapolis – Maurkice Pouncey, C: Indianapolis equals Peyton Manning. How do you keep Manning the best? Give him all the protection he needs.
32. New Orleans – Everson Griffen, DE: They want to repeat as champions. Making the defense better is the best way they can.

Doubt Dallas takes Brown. They like really big OTs and Brown's biggest drawback is his light weight
that means he falls to Indy. YAY!
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

that could be a possibility and they might take Pouncey instead, but I think a T is the position they will covet more, hence my selection. Where as the Colts could use a G or T and Saturday isn’t getting any younger so Pouncey could switch to that position once he retires.

but both the Colts OTs also have guard experience so a 1st round caliber LT like Brown
would give them a LT and LG upgrade kicking Charlie Johnson inside.

I like your KC pick!
hope it happens :)
* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
* KC will NOT draft a LT in the first round, and the draft WILL be heavy on defense
If they have the opportunity to take what could be arguably the best player in this draft, and they pass on him just cause they don’t want to ttake a safety high, then that front office is ridiculous in my opinion.

will you still be on yours if they do select him at #6?

oh haha
because my last word was “period” and only chicks have periods so you asked if I’ll still be on mine, implying you meant period, even though you actually didnt use that word. and like i said, only chicks have periods.
how awesomely clever of you. clever clever clever.
i will be pretty pissed if we go Spiller at 6 though.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
I guess in all likely hood they could go with McCoy since he will be BPA, but with Carroll coaching I think the top RB makes a bigger splash, plus gives him probably the best offensive weapon in the draft.

LT is priority #1
I’m 90% certain we’ll end up with either Bryan Bulaga or Trent Williams at 6. You have Spiller at 6, Williams at 14. I think we could end up with those two players, but the other way around, Williams at 6 and Spiller at 14 (if Spiller is gone, we’ll gladly take Morgan or Haden, I doubt all 3 will be gone at 14)
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
The Seahawks won't pass on Gerald McCoy to get Spiller
Especially since Spiller could be available at #14. And doesn’t Cleveland run a 3-4 defense? If McCoy even was a good fit, I’d think Washington or KC would pick him.
Washington and KC run a 3-4 as well

yeah Cleveland does run a 3-4 which means the 295 lb McCoy would fit in perfectly as a DE, hence the goodbye to Kenyon Coleman. They got Rogers pulling NT (depending on the outcome of his legal troubles) so it would be a great move by them. Washington is set for their 3-4 transition. Kemoteau(sp) if healthy is a great NT, if they keep Haynesworth he will slide over to DE, and Daniels is there other DE. They really need a T with Samuels retiring, plus Shanahan coaching. KC could use McCoy, but Eric Berry is probably the Best Player in this draft, and they could use a Safety. I went with best player available. However you are right, Seattle could just as likely choose McCoy, but I think Spiller is the call for 2 reasons. 1. Like I said above, as a new head coach, especially a head coach who has an offensive background, you want to make the splash. Spiller is the best offensive weapon in this draft, and can be used like USC Reggie Bush (not NFL Reggie Bush). McCoy would probably be the safer and better pick, but not the type I think that Carrol would make. 2. If Spiller drops, he will definately not be there at 14. Either SF takes him to pair with Gore, or someone will move up to grab him. Hou, NE, GB, I think would be the frontrunners, especially with Miami actively looking to trade down.

What would KC do with McCoy?
They already have Dorsey and Jackson at the ends and McCoy is not a NT. The only possible way I see them drafting him if it ends up how your mock is if they trade Dorsey which is unlikely. Also would they really draft a DL three straight years?
I don’t think they will, but they could move Dorsey into NT. He has the body type to put on more muscle/weight if need be. Anyway, I don’t think it is really an issue. They will probably either trade back (dumb of them) or grab Berry(smart of them). Just saying, that their defense could always use an improvement so McCoy wouldn’t be a terrible choice.

I kinda hope not. I hope you guys draft Bruce Campbell or some other equally useless person. It’s not to far to reach for Darryl Clark in the first.

Don't sleep on Bruce
he’s not your ordinary workout warrior.
He was dominant when he played…just only played 17 games. That said, Jerry Reese says he doesn’t draft gymnasts..so I doubt you’ll get your wish.

The Eagles
Could get that guy at the 37 pick maybe even the 55th so why would we pick him with 24 the Eagles draft BPA not need so they would probably draft Weatherspoon in that case.
Sorry Rock, but I think this is just the way the FO works. I would prefer Weatherspoon here if he is available, but the Eagles will spend high on OL, CB, or DE. With who was on the board I thought the next best CB was the best choice. We might take Kareem Jackson with our 37 too. A reboot of taking Lito and Brown.

Clausen will not be a failure!!!!
"If you have a milkshake and I have a milkshake and I have a straw and my straw reaches across the room and starts to drink your milkshake. I-DRINK-YOUR-MILKSHAKE! SSSSHHHLLLUUUURRRPPPPP I DRINK IT UP!!!!!!"- There Will be Blood-one of the best quotes EVER!!
Agreed
Bre\adford will be the failure. The guy cant take a sack for his life. 08 he played behind one of the best OLs ive seen in years, and did great. Without that OL he couldnt stay healthy. No way that guy gets the protection he got in 08 in the pros.
sorry man
But as a Notre Dame fan, I have to say Clausen will not amount to crap. I said the same about Brady Quinn, and so far I am right about him. Clausen just doesn’t have the skill set needed to be a good QB. When people rave about his touch, all I see are balls that could easily be picked off. His field awareness seems to be very weak to me, and his arm strength is average at best. I just don’t see good things in Clausen’s future.
I personally think with the right coaching Mike Kafka will be the best QB out of this draft. I know that seems ludicrous, but the man is the hardest worker in the world. I think it will take 3 to 4 years of excellent coaching, but if he gets it, watch out. After him I have Colt McCoy rated at number 2. Colts biggest issue is his size, but his intangibles are second to none. The little guys, are the fiery ones. I think whoever gets him will get a steal.
I am not disagreeing Bradford will be successful, but I think he has a much better chance to succeed then Clausen.

Yea that makes sense
replace one diva WR with another. BMarsh’s attitude was the wole reason we traded him, so why would we draft a similar problem player
because going into the season with Eddie Royal as your number 1 is closing the 2010 chapter before it even gets started. Marshall had attitude because he wasn’t getting paid more then anything else. Dez being a 1st round draft pick will keep him happy about the money so the problems he causes should be low to non-existent.

your right dt3
but you know Andy and the FO like I know them. Do you really think they are gonna take Weatherspoon? I’d love if they did, but since they have been bringing in all the later round LB’s for workouts, I don’t think they are looking his way. Maybe a Maclin thing, where they don’t think he is gonna be available, but I am gonna have to stick with McCourty as the call.

Iupati needs to be ready to start right away
he’s not. Wilson is the pick
I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.
We just dumped a problem WR just so we could draft another?
I have to agree with Yankees
Iuapati is probably one of the most NFL ready players coming out. He is by far the best pure G, he already has the mean streak a G needs to have, plus he is a little shaky on the pass defense but not so much so that he can’t get it straightened out before the season starts. He is already an outstanding run blocker.
Here is how I disqualified players for your pick, leading to the choice I made:
I know the Steelers seem to be evolving to a pass oriented offense, but they will probably remain a balanced team when it comes to off. play calling. I thought about SF picking up A. Davis, letting Dan Williams slide to you, because I heard Pit is very interested in him, but I decided, even though I don’t see it, SF could use him as their NT and just take their OT (which is only a RT which is why I had them going the other routes) later. CB has not been a real focus of the Steeler’s in quite sometime. I see them as liking their LB’s and S the most. Since you are pretty set at LB and I didn’t think Taylor Mays would be appreciated, or much of a pick that high, the only conclusion I could come to was Iupati.
