Evening NFL Draft links to click
Because this Saturday Night Live retrospective sucks, here are some draft links to check out. More to come as I get to them.
Tribune Newspapers: Sam Famer of the Los Angeles Times gathered a bunch of NFL writers and had them do a mock draft. Interestingly, Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post made the same pick as John Bena in the SB Nation writers mock. Don't think journalists read these sites? Think again.
New York Times: The fellas from Draft Guys are doing some work for the paper's Fifth Down blog. Congratulations to Cecil, Sigmund and Matt. Those guys bust ass and deserve whatever they have coming to them.
Green Bay Press Gazette: The Packers need an offensive tackle, but is Burce Campbell too much of an enigma?
The Phinsider: What the Brandon Marshall acquisition means to the Dolphins. Somehow Matty wrote that without the term "Wildcat." That's worth an applause.
Niners Nation: Examining the reality of players being taken off boards. There has been news this week that Dez Bryant has been removed from boards. We had a post about it, but the validity of this sort of stuff is so up in the air.
Field Gulls: Players recruited by Pete Carroll and whether or not they played against him. Neat concept. A lot of work.
Orlando Sun Sentinel: Projecting where Florida Atlantic players will be drafted. Hint: They're all undrafted free agents.
TurfShowTimes: 3k finishes up his three-parter on the evolution of Sam Bradford. It also includes a hot shot of Olivia Munn, who is secretly my wife.
Denver Post: Draft busts come in all shapes, sizes and offenses.
Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Jerry Hughes gets ready for his professional career. The more you read about Hughes, the more you really start to like him as a person.
Chicago Tribune: Dan Pompeii rates the draft's defensive ends. Pompeii does this every year and they're good, quick reads. His ratings aren't a lot different than mine.
Sports Illustrated: Don Banks opines about the NFL future of Toby Gerhart.
Boston Globe: Lame headline aside, a solid overview on C.J. Spiller. I listened to an interview with Spiller today and he's an impressive guy. He didn't talk about getting picked or making money. He talked about getting his degree, winning a Super Bowl and playing on special teams. Real good guy.
It's not football, but I like it:
Bloody Elbow: UFC president Dana White lies to fans, doesn't care. I love UFC, but White's juvenile behavior may seriously hold the sport back at some point.
Surfer Blood: So, I've had their album for a couple months and this song is really tasty. Just a cool groove.
Record Store Day: This Saturday is Record Store Day. Make your way to a local independent music store and buy some music. I know it's cool to download everything, but the slice of life from these places is irreplaceable. So find a store and pick something up.

That Burce Campbell guy really is an enigma
I feel like I don’t even know who he is.
And I like the UFC as well, but the title fights last week were pretty lousy.
LA times mock already out of date
12. Dolphins: WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State. (Omar Kelly, South Florida Sun Sentinel) “Dez Bryant is looking for a father figure, and Bill Parcells wouldn’t mind being one. The Dolphins need a difference maker at receiver.”
