Jaguars appear ready deal on draft day
There has been discussion going all the way back to February that Jacksonville has wanted to trade out of the No. 10 pick. That talk intensified again on Thursday when general manager Gene Smith, director of player personnel Terry McDonough and head coach Jack Del Rio held their pre-draft press conference.
"We're very proactive," McDonough told reporters. "A lot of teams don't want to have those discussions back in February and March. We're constantly talking to teams not only about the first round, but every round. You make good contacts and have good relationships, and a lot of time trades are built on relationships. It's not something we dive into the week before the draft. Teams know the Jaguars are very open to moving around in any round."
The notion is that the team wants to trade back and add a second-round pick. The team traded the No. 44 pick in this year's draft to select cornerback Derek Cox in the third round last year. As such, the team has six draft picks going into next week's draft.
Jacksonville is believed to be after help on defense and considering there is a lot of talent on that side of the ball in the first two rounds, Jacksonville might get desperate.
The team might also have to take a long look at Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen if he is still available with pick 10.

somehow berry drops to 10 and they make the move… love it
we make the move to go after haden… not so much
earl thomas… somewhere in the middle. I would be much more excited about adding him than adding haden but I would wonder if we would need to move up that much/give up that much to get him
VOID!!!
Clausen
That’s the only pick I can see the Jaguars being willing to make at 10. Other than that, #10 is for sale

No, no and no
I think they only stay at 10 for Clausen, Berry, Suh or McCoy. Maybe not even Berry.

And what if Clausen is gone and they dont trade out of 10. I’m pretty sure they would draft either of those three. I also think that even if Clausen was there they would pass on him. I havent seen them linked to him once.
They've met with him
I will absolutely guarantee you that if Clausen is there the Jaguars will take him. If he isn’t the Jaguars will try like hell to trade down. If they can’t then they’ll have to just pick someone. Personally, I’d take Earl Thomas over all three of the guys you suggested.

I would take Berry Adam!
With him there is another trade meets value scenario happening like with Eugene Monroe last year!

Was reading somewhere that they might not even like McClain. Don’t know how true it is, but that’s out there somewhere.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
I've seen that too
mostly by those thinking the Giants are suddenly turning into the Colts with the Tampa 2 midget defense. I haven’t heard any of that from anyone in Giants camp…then again, they really don’t say anything, especially Reese.
The writing was on the wall when they had Coughlin, Reese and the LB coach all at McClain’s pro day.
They had Ro in for a visit this week already…tho they said nothing after it of course.

You don't have to be tiny to run a Tampa 2
Fewell’s system in Buffalo had Stroud at DT, he’s not small. All of our DT’s in Carolina are very close to 300.
Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.
120 TDs+16000+ passing yards=Good
89 INT's+27 lost fumbles=Bad
Most comeback wins since 2003=Priceless

Oh I know...
that’s why I say is BS that McClain’s not an option because of the Tampa 2.

You do need to have range though
which I believe is a limitation for Mclain.

Interesting
There have been skeptics, mostly based on fear that McClain’s a system player, or perhaps lacks the top-end athletic skill to be a truly premier linebacker. I love the guy personally, but wouldn’t be surprised to see him slip into the range of 15.

When I made up my mockery
…I knew Jacksonville sought to trade down. There’s no way they can justify even to themselves taking Tebow at that high a draft spot, but like it or not drafting Tebow is the smartest (fan-friendly, ticket-selling) thing they can do.
King is saying Philly wants to trade up (please see that post). Jax trade + Philly trade = loads of sense.
Witty's madness once again comes in HTML format at Witty's Draft PREview so stop on by and glower at my chaotic decision-making...
The Jags aren’t taking Tebow, no matter how much the morons on PFT and ESPN are saying it

If we are lucky John; and this Eagles trade turns out
I’M a bit confident he would be taken when Gene will pick at 24….
