49ers acquire Ted Ginn from Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have sent wide receiver Ted Ginn to San Francisco for a late-round pick in this year's draft, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that the pick is a fifth-round selection.
Ginn was the ninth overall pick of the 2007 draft. In three years, Ginn has totaled 128 receptions for 1,664 yards and five touchdowns. He's also ran for 124 yards and two scores.
But his best value is as a return man. San Francisco is in need of a return specialist, so the fit is a good one. Ginn was named the AFC special teams player of the month in November. In that month, he returned two kickoffs of 100 yards or longer for a touchdown in the same game.
For his career, Ginn has averaged 23 yards per kickoff return and 8.7 yards per punt return.

Great deal for the 49ers
Ginn will open up the underneath coverage for Crabtree to flourish. The 49ers also lacked explosiveness on their ST’s. Ginn solves two problems and improves the 49ers overall team speed. The Dolphins phone lines should have been burning up with miltiple teams trying to get Ginn.
Speed oesnt matter when you cant catch, or when you are simply afraid to take a hit
or when you cant run proper routes.

Okay, so he's not a #1 (and I never said so)
ST’s is a third of the game and a very underrated one. He will help them on ST’s is the ponit gentlemen and be the stretch the field WR in the sub packages. Kapeesh!
Good deal
Fifth round isnt bad, although Santonio Holmes was traded to the Steelers for that and he is much better, but still a good deal for them.
Holmes only got a fifth in return because his character flaws.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
And Holmes is supsended the first 4 games of the season next year.
After the year he is a free agent.
Yup
Ginn was traded on the backend of his rookie deal. With 3 years left I think. Sweet deal for the 9ers
IMO
So does this take SF out of the running for Spiller?
since returning was a big part of his value to them, and now he’d just be a backup/utility player.

I hope so.
Cuz Rolando McClain not really having Crohns may take him out of the Giants radar, so then Spiller has a better chance of falling.

Yes I think so
Unless he falls further than expected, I don’t think he represents good value anymore.

If I was SF I would cross spiller off my list
sounds strange, a bust like Ginn, had for a 5th round pick, and dictates the direction the 49ers go in the first…….
but Frisco already had Gore and ….hey shake, you jumped me
lol
first thought was, well the slim chance Indy gets him is gone. Then “No Spiller to SF”. Then “Damn, now my mock is officially out of date”.

Maybe...
If he didnt wear a kicker’s facemask he’d be a better receiver. Maybe if he stopped taking hits like a kicker too.
