With draft days away, some picks becoming more clear
It was just about exactly a year ago that we started hearing word that the Chiefs would be taking Tyson Jackson. As the draft came closer, the pick looked assured.
Although there haven't been any out-of-left-field overtures yet this year, some picks are starting to become clear.
Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News posted this tweet earlier:
Lions coach Jim Schwartz told a crowd chanting to draft Ndamukong Suh that they wouldn't be disapointed. He said it with a pretty big grin.
It's no surprise the Lions will take Suh, but this sort of affirmation is telling.
Shortly after Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports said that Trent Williams is the most-skilled offensive tackle in the draft, Washington Post beat writer said he's the "likely" pick for the Redskins at No. 4.

If Trent Williams does go to Washington,
I hope all you Chiefs fans are right that Kansas City won’t take an offensive tackle at 5 because getting Okung at 6 would be awesome.
If Okung was available at 5 KC fans, would you want him or Eric Berry and who do you think the Chiefs would take if Okung was available?
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
axel...
you wouldn’t be the only one that’d be thrilled. As a Giants fan, I’d be happy with that. I have the same question for KC fans…if Okung is there, it could probably knock out KC as a contender for Rolando McClain….
Dream Draft:
1) Rolando McClain
2) Lamarr Houston
3) Kyle Calloway
4) Major Wright
5) Deji Karim
6) Sergio Render
7) Rashawn Jackson

as a Chiefs fan
I STILL wouldn’t want an OT at #5… the defense needs more help than the OL at this point.
though, I would hate Okung less than Bulaga or Williams (kinda like I hate getting punched in the stomach less than getting punched in the nuts)
* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
* KC will NOT draft a LT in the first round, and the draft WILL be heavy on defense
so, to answer the question more directly...
Yes, I’d hope KC would still draft Berry or McClain and/or trade down instead of taking Okung

What are your thoughts on Dan Williams (if you can't trade down)?
i honestly wouldn’t be shocked if he is the pick
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
what if you could get the next Joe Thomas…would you do it?
as a pure blocker (disregarding physical skills and focusing on play and technique) he is quite possibly the best pure LT to come out since Joe Thomas. Honestly, if the browns didn’t have JT and you guys didn’t want him, I would love for the browns to swap picks with you.
plus, berry is maybe a better player, but who helps their team more, an elite Safety or an elite LT?

Stop trying to be rational with the KC guys over here
They are delusional. They have been knitting Eric Berry some wool underwear for so long, that is going to be hilarious when they take a OT.
Better get some more yarn guys
IMO
that would be incredible...
the Redskins draft Gosder Cherilus Trent Williams aka a RT #4 overall..stick him at LT and he gets eaten alive playing 6 games in the NFC East.
And the Chiefs get the best OT in the last 2 drafts in Okung. Well..that wouldn’t be good for opponents of the Chiefs.
It would be good for the Chiefs. And Matt Cassel’s health.
Dose of reality mock draft-
1) Mike Iupati OG 2) Sean Lee MLB 3) Geno Atkins DT 4) Jerome Murphy CB 5) James Starks RB 6) Phillip Dillard LB 7) Fendi Onobun TE

Dude
every NFL scout agrees he can play LT in the NFL. but i guess you know more than them
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
I know I can be wrong...
but if you think every NFL scout can’t be wrong…..you need to lay off the peyote. Or at least get off the high horse. Or maybe think for yourself for a change?

Just saying
it’s some dude on the internet (you) vs every NFL scout.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
HAHA
The Chiefs took Albert as a LG to play LT, so by that logic; Okung would be their LG allowing Cassel to still get abused in his second season with KC.
IMO
or they could put Albert in at at LG and Okung at LT
but they’re the Chiefs..they’ll probably screw it up.

I actually like Okung more than I did Thomas when they were both entering the draft
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
I disagree, but I see the point though. I think JT was a better prospect coming out personally, but Okung isn’t really that far behind. I would be happy if he fell to #7. even though the browns have thomas, that would give the browns 3 future all pros on their O-Line in Mack Thomas and Okung. Okung is not as polished in pass protecting as JT but is a bit better against the run which makes him a guy who can also play RT.

Posturing
I still think they’ll end up paying a guy 50mil to protect their other 50mil boy.
Well,
The Bucs get McCoy. Maybe we could trade for Haynesworth also. Anyways, Get those mock drafts in now:)
Hmmm...
…
1. Bradford
2. Suh
3. McCoy
4. Williams
5. Okung
6. Berry
7. Haden
8. Trindon Holliday
9. Davis/Brown/Campbell/best OT.
10. Morgan
Sounds about right.
