Jason Worilds NFL Draft scouting report
Jason Worilds
6'0 1/2, 254 pounds | Outside linebacker | Virginia Tech
Strengths: Once Worilds gets going, he's very fast and agile. Closes really fast and with power. His best pass rush move is working to the outside and back in to beat tackles with his speed. But he also employs a solid swim and rip move. Flashes solid strength on occasion. Is aggressive going after the upfield run.
Weaknesses: Not especially fast off the line of scrimmage. Doesn't have the power to hold up at the line of scrimmage and gets pushed around against the run. May only be a situational pass rusher because of his lack of instincts. Was slowed some in 2009 following offseason shoulder surgery.
Final word: Worilds will probably have to make the jump from college defensive end to 3-4 linebacker in the NFL. He has good speed, but is a step late to get going. He's not quite as athletic as players like Jerry Hughes, Ricky Sapp and Eric Norwood.
