Prospect video of the week: A.J. Green

Welcome to a new feature here at Mocking the Draft. Each week we'll take a look at a player's YouTube video and analyze what we see. If there's a video you want showcased, let me know. This week's video is of Georgia junior wide receiver A.J. Green, MTD's No. 1 draft-eligible prospect.

What this video shows:The first thing you notice watching Green is his body control. Look how he high points the ball at any angle to make the catch. Also pay attention to Gren's footwork near the sideline. The body control he shows is at an elite level already.

It also shows Green's impressive hands. He almost always catches the ball with his hands and not his frame. But what this really showed was Green's surprising strength after the catch. For a player who looks like a somewhat thin 207 pounds, Green has impressive strength to break away from defenders.

What needs to be seen more: Route running. Green excels at post routes and quick underneath routes. Green also doesn't run away from a lot of defenders so it will be interesting to see how he times. The video also doesn't show some of the issues Green has beating a jam.

After the jump, check out another Green video.

I love Green

He possesses a Dez Bryant-like ability to go up and high point the ball. And he used his hops to block a field goal in the Arizona State game.

Though he could use some more bulk, he does a good job of shaking off defenders and shows some nastiness going after YAC.

If my Browns are really bad this year but don’t want to draft a QB, A.J. Green would be a nice consolation prize for enduring another sucky season.

Green too, but Floyd and Jonathan Baldwin are both great players as well

Yeah

I like those two also, I think Julio Jones is a little overrated

I think Julio makes the best pro

big dudes like that generally don’t thrive in the college game. Also, his offense doesn’t exactly suit him all that well.

Yea, I wouldn’t be surprised if he busts. His hands and effort are quesionable.

Jones’ hands scare me as well. He too often looks upfield before securing the ball, and he doesn’t show ideal aggressiveness going after the ball.

Last year, it showed up a lot in the red zone, as well as when he failed to come up and field a short kickoff in the BCS Championship Game.

Hopefully, he puts it all together this year, but I’m a moderate skeptic right now.

I really enjoy seeing A.J. Green play at UGA

his skills and demeanor are so above everyone else’s, i wish him the best of luck in the coming season and in the NFL (if theres no lockout in the near future or whatever). GO DAWGS!!!
