MLB Draft starts today
The 2010 MLB Draft begins today at 7 p.m. (EST), airing on the MLB Network. But leading up to the draft tonight, make sure you're checking out MLB Bonus Baby. They've done a good job previewing the draft for SB Nation. Here is blogger Andy Seiler's latest mock draft and top 100.
Power-hitting catcher Bryce Harper is the expected first overall pick by the Washington Nationals. A star since his early teens, Harper graduated high school early so he could enroll in a junior college and get drafted sooner.
After Harper, quite frankly, your guess is probably better than mine. That's sort of why I enjoy the MLB Draft. As an NFL Draft nerd, it's fun to sit back and watch how the MLB version is covered and who is picked.
For more details, Baseball America is always a good place to start. MLB.com is ramping its coverage up more than ever (and you can follow the draft there if you don't get MLBN). Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated has some great ideas on how to fix the MLB Draft (which is a necessity).
