Alabama's Mark Ingram not talking NFL future

While attending an awards function over the weekend, Alabama running back Mark Ingram was asked about whether 2010 would be his last in college football.

Unsurprisingly, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner avoided the question.

"My main focus right now is being the best player I can be for this team and helping this team win games and win another championship," he told the Birmingham News. "Anything else is not necessary to talk about."

That last bit there is pretty harsh. But that should be expected when you're asking the question in June.

There was a bit of a stir in the comments when I said Ingram was the 36th best draft-eligible prospect in April. Much like Ingram's professional decision, though, that could change.

Ingram's vision, patience and running strength are very good. But I have questions about his speed and foot quickness.

You're not alone in your skepticism

I have my questions as well. I wonder if the RB value keeps trending down where he might end up.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

I also wonder where he might end up with Trent Richardson looking so good late last year and probably taking some carries away this year.

true

And without such a stout defense, Bama might go to the air more often, especially if Julio stays healthy.

He isn’t the fastest but he is so tough to bring down with great vision. If Ryan Matthews can go 12th, I think Ingram can go in the first round. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Pats or Dolphins take him.
