Prospect video of the week: Rahim Moore
This week's video is of UCLA junior safety Rahim Moore, the 32nd ranked player in the MTD top 75.
What this video shows: Although it's not fair to judge a player on one game, this video shows the Rahim Moore formula perfectly. This isn't all I've seen of the UCLA safety, but this video shows what kind of player he is. Early on there you can see the issues Moore has defending the run. He seems content working with a gang tackling. When he's solo, he has some trouble and dives at ankles.
Moore is the last line of defense and to see him whiff on running plays is a huge negative. But as bad as Moore is in run coverage, he's good in pass defense. His hands are at an elite level and he tracks the ball well. He plays a little too far off in zone coverage, but has good recovery speed.
What needs to be seen more: It's obvious watching not only this game, but several others from Moore, that he needs to improve his tackling ability. That's currently his biggest deficiency and why I have him rated as a fringe first rounder. The only thing keeping him that high is his coverage ability. Heading into his junior season, it would behoove Moore to add 10-15 pounds of muscle.
