New England Patriots team needs

Quietly, New England has put together a great offseason and addressed se  veral needs. Through the draft, playmakers like wide receiver Taylor Price and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez were added.

Because of that, the Patriots don't have a lot of big needs. Regardless, here they are in no particular order:

Outside linebacker: New England has a bunch of players for the two outside spots but only Tully Banta-Cain is proven. Considering Banta-Cain is only above-average, this is a big-time need for the team. Shawn Crable has potential for the position but is always injured. Derrick Burgess has really regressed of late. Jermaine Cunningham and Pierre Woods are unproven.

Star-divide

Guard: Logan Mankins has made his feelings known that he wants out of New England. Even if something is worked out with the Pro Bowl guard, Stephen Neal opposite him is a free agent following the season. Nick Kaczur can replace Mankins, but he's not the ideal starter there.

Running back: New England got by decent enough last season with a combination of Lawrence Maroney, Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris and ageless third-down wonder Kevin Faulk. Maroney is the team's lead back and has been average. Taylor's days are coming to an end and Morris splits time between fullback and tailback. BenJarvus Green-Ellis is intriguing, but more of a special teams contributor.

Defensive end: Four new players, Damione Lewis, Gerard Warren, Brandon Deaderick and Kade Weston, were added to the defensive line this offseason. But none of them are as good as the departed Jarvis Green. In fact, the team still hasn't done a sufficient job replacing Richard Seymour. With the influx of 3-4 ends in the 2011 NFL Draft, this could be a position New England targets

I think they need OLB and RB.

They cant run a lick or force a QB to hurry up a pass. The only way they can win the division is if they can do those things

Wide receiver because Moss wont last much longer

Two mid round guys won’t replace moss. If Julio or Floyd is available , I would be surprised if the Pats didn’t select one

How do you know?

Lets see them play before we decide they arent good enough to replace Moss just because they were “mid round guys”

You are out of your mind. Randy Moss has been one of the best receivers in the NFL for years. You can’t pass up on better prospects and hope mid round MAC receiver and someone who never was a #1 one receiver in college will fill the hole that Randy leaves.

You don't replace a guy like Moss

His talent makes him irreplaceable. My guess would be that they go back to spreading the ball around like the pre Moss days. Which would explain them drafting both Gronkowski, and Hernandez as well as Price

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.
We just dumped a problem WR just so we could draft another?

Well you can think that but I still think they will at least strongly consider a guy like Floyd, Julio, or even Baldwin.

why is everyone always set out on "replacing" a player?

the Patriots won SB’s with Troy Brown and Dieon Branch (none with Randy Moss, in case that slipped the old gourde)

Tate and Price can be effective WR for Belicheck and whoever the hell OC it is for them.

If you think they need to “replace” Randy Moss, you’re out of your mind.

KEEP LEE!!!

So you think having an elite receiver hurts a team?
