2010 Supplemental Draft set for July 15

The premier player in this year's supplemental draft, set for next Thursday, is BYU running back Harvey Unga. He is working out today for several teams. Among those with reportedly the most interest are the Rams, Dolphins, Chiefs and Steelers.

Unga is the BYU career rushing leader with 3,455 yards and considered entering the 2010 NFL Draft. He has a good blend of size (6-foot 3/4, 245 pounds) and agility. By no means is her a speed burner, but he has good lateral agility and can make people miss.

He's also shown to be a good enough pass receiver. Unga has a tendency to run with too much urgency and can get upright between the tackles. He also has some injury issues. He sat out the 2006 season with a hip injury and a broken hand sidelined him a game in 2009. He's also has minor ankle issues throughout his career.

Star-divide

The other player most likely to be drafted is former Illinois defensive tackle Josh Price-Brent. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds, he's a slow-footed plugger in the middle. He started 12 games for Illinois in 2009, totaling 29 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks and three forced fumbles.

He was ruled academically ineligible for the season. He's also had some run-ins with the law, including a DUI and a suspended license.

Also officially in the draft are running backs Quentin Castille (Northwestern State) and Vaness Emokpae (Truman State).

Castille is a transfer from Nebraska who played a season for Northwestern State. In two years for Nebraska, he ran for 810 yards and 10 touchdowns. In the Gator Bowl against Clemson in 2008, Castille ran for 125 yards. He was to challenge Roy Helu for the starting job at Nebraska before violating team rules.

Emokpae led Truman in rushing and receiving last season. He played a variety of positions in college. At 5-foot-11 and 245, he projects as a fullback or H-back in the NFL.

Former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli is also expected to enter the draft but has yet to file paperwork with the NFL.

Masoli

Apparently Masoli is going to be transferring to another school and redshirting this season before playing his final year of eligibility next year. Mississippi State and Louisiana Tech are two of the schools that he’s considering.

Jeremiah always keeps things rolling

I wouldn’t spend a draft pick on him…

If I could get him to be Joe Thomas’s shadow (Joe would pancake him if he got outta line), I would spend the draft pick (5th or 6th). Sure the Browns have McCoy, who looks to be a really good QB, but it doesn’t hurt to groom two QB’s and trade one away for more players, especially if you only spend a 5th or a 6th on them. Holmgren is a QB god, so I could see the Browns possible going for it.
