A whole mess of site news
Here are some quick site notes as the football season kicks into high gear:
First and foremost, this site remains a community site. As such, make sure you check out the start of the user-generated rankings run by user and moderator TheAngelsColts. These will help make the community mock draft much better. Also weigh in on user jdcvr6's team needs FanPost.
You may notice some different looks on the site. First, the tech geniuses from SB Nation changed up the user interface, giving it a more streamlined look. In that box, dubbed the "Blog Huddle," you can add FanPosts and FanShots as well as change the layout of the site from wide to narrow.
The SB Nation writers mock draft has finally been taken down. To see how it went, the link is here.
The MTD Twitter widget has finally returned. It's been a big black box for some time because, quite honestly, I kept forgetting to change it. If you don't already, make sure you follow MTD on Twitter. I get pretty interactive on it and pass along a lot of great draft nuggets and links.
A quick note about how this site works. This comment made me want to explain a little bit. In our super-quick Miami/Pittsburgh preview from last week, user swg777 left this comment about Allen Bailey:
How did he do???? I didn’t get to watch the game. This is really annoying, all the front-end analysis with no back-end analysis.
Running an NFL Draft site is a catch-22. In general, the most traffic comes between December and April. As such, I spend most of my college football watching taking notes. Most of these notes get held until December, January, February and March when real traffic is here. Does that mean you should stop coming here until December? I hope not. I like to think this part of the year is great for formulating opinion on players via discussion.
I strongly encourage everyone to ramp up their prospect discussion here on MTD. Whether that's done in posts I put up or in FanShots and FanPosts, make your opinion known. If you ever leave me a comment and I don't get back to you, please please please send an email.
If message board are your bag, great news! Will Spencer of DraftBreakdown.com set up a co-op community message board with several draft sites. I know for most SB Nation sites a message board is archaic and stupid. But for discussion that happens over several days and weeks, a message board is great.
Along with MTD and DraftBreakdown, the sites participating are NewEraScouting, Draft Dog, Draft Ace, NEPatriotsDraft, MockDraftHQ and Great Blue North Draft Report. Kind of neat.
Last, a couple people have asked me when I'm going to do a mock draft. Ugh. Maybe after Week 8 of the NFL season. However, maybe if we start to get some in the FanPosts, I could be motivated.
Oh, why the beard picture? Why not! Beards for everyone!

Yes. I’m not NASCAR fan, though. I caught a Wrangler jeans commercial, did a photo search for Wrangler and I thought his beard was solid.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
I would argue that it is above average, not solid.

I don’t think it has a lot of upside and shouldn’t be considered a top pick.

Its pretty rangy and goes sideline to sideline. I could see someone reaching for it.
