2011 Senior Bowl open thread

After a week of highly publicized practice sessions, the Senior Bowl game kicks off today on NFL Network. Use this as your open thread. The game starts at 4 p.m.

What to watch for:

- Jake Locker's accuracy, especially when he's not mobile
- Which other QB steps up (My guess: Greg McElroy)
- Von Miller's all-around game and if he can hold up against the run
- Will Cameron Jordan translate a great week of practice to game day?
- Ditto for Leonard Hankerson
- The breakthrough offensive tackle with Gabe Carimi out today
- Does Titus Young live up to his own hype?

I like him alot

I think he is the most underated QB this draft
everyone talks about Locker Mallett Gabbert
I like this kid over all of them

He's a pitcher

And still trying to perfect his throwing motion. He isn’t an intellectual type but he can play as well as anyone from the BCS schools

but started the last two at DT. 3-4 DE or 4-3 3-tech.

I'm dissapointed with the rules.

There’s a lot of man-press in the NFL, how does this get the CBs ready for the transition.

I think Hankerson would make more spectacular catches in man-press and at the same time the CBs will have more opportunity to shine.

Is that so? Lee ordered Picket’s Charge (much to the chagrin of Picket and all involved soldiers with brains). That move on the chessboard was the single worst of the entire Civil War, and coincidentally, the event horizon for the South’s doom.
Now, what was Grant up to at that very same time? Why, he was figuring out who to get past the Confederate blockade of the Yazoo River by digging a fucking moat in the adjacent swamps so he could siege Vicksburg. Goddamned ingenious. Grant and Sherman get heat for destroying everything in their path (Total War), but goddamn did it work.

I have thought he was not worth the hype but I am starting to come around. Do you think he will excel in the NFL ??

by ENsDad27 on Jan 29, 2011 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

You and I have the same opinion on him. I still question Miller’s ability to consistently play the run. He’s much better than I thought, though.

That’s part of the process of evaluating a player, though.

hard question: Where do you see Locker going now?

by Sheffieldbengal on Jan 29, 2011 6:30 PM EST reply actions

Still imagine someone in the first will reach for him. Kind of depends what happens with Vince Young. He could go to Miami or Minnesota, two spots Locker projects to.

Who has sucked today

Allen Bailey. Had a below-average week of practice. Now he’s being pushed around by Lance Kendricks.

Love is showing today that he’s a guard. Ziemba’s arm length may push him inside as well. If they’re stubborn and want to stick at tackle, they’re going to be backups or out of the league quickly.

Well only if we pick up Ray Edwards or the like in FA.

We pick so late and his stock just rocketed.

Ponder has been my favorite QB out of this draft all season.

Injuries and all. FSU had a pourous O line.

He's a QB

Locker taking a dump may allow Ponder to skip into the late first.

Gotta say I’d rather role with Ponder than Locker.

Hell...I wouldn't rule out top 20

people thought Josh Freeman was a 2nd-3rd. I doubt any team aside from teh Bucs thought he’d be as good has he’s been this early, but it only takes one team.

And there’s plenty of teams with poop at QB

Def has accuracy issues. Like how Mayock broke down his throwing style, comparing it to his infield baseball throwing technique…
