Jaguars Mock Draft

Jaguars Mock Draft only.

Star-divide

Round 1: Ashlon Jeffery WR

Blaine Gabbert needs a #1, Mike Thomas makes a great #2, but him being a #1, he's being limited by opposing defenses.  He's still playing well, just not as good as he would as a #1.  As a #2 Mike Thomas would definitely get 1,000 yards.  Jeffery provides a big receiver, who can do it all.

Round 2: Kelechi Osemele OT/G

Big O-Lineman, has tremendous potential, if Uche keeps struggling, he may get his job taken away.

Round 3: Donnie Fletcher CB

Good CB, I'm expecting Mathis to be re-signed, but Donnie can start as the teams dimeback and develop into a starting CB.

Round 4: Ben Habern C

Future replacement for Meester

Round 6: Alex Hurst OT

Doesn't offer much as a starting tackle, but can be an effective swing tackle.

Round 7: Damarlo Belcher WR

Will provide Gabbert with another big receiver to throw to.

*I'm assuming the pick we gave for Lowery was a 5th.

Seeing as I do not know how the other picks play out

I would say a DE or CB would seem like a nice pick in the 2nd, becuase I feel they are of greater need. As of ow I only know who the hell Jeffery is and I love the guy. Great pick in the first

does the Mike Thomas extension confuse/annoy you as much as me
  1. money for a #2-at-best or slot receiver… I heard that a lot of it was based on filling cap space, but still…

no

he’s a great #2, Donald Driver is on a 3 year #17 mill deal, and he is on the decline.

I don't know why people think we need a DE.

Mincey has proven to be a beast. Kampman is expected to be healthy next week, and I’m assuming he’ll be his old self. Then we have Roth who is a solid starter, but is our rotational backup. We have Chick, who is a good situational pass rusher, and Lane who is still developing. The 2nd round OT is probably going to play guard. Then the later one is a backup.

let's not get ourselves overexicted about Kamp

2 torn ACLs over 2 years can almost guarantee he will not be near what he once was. He might present an upgrade, but you still need to picture him more as a rotational guy in the future. Jags need to find that dominant DE who can go out and pull 10+ sacks in a year

Uche is not struggling at all

He’s been our best O-linemen this year.

Can't stand the truth?

I don’t know where the idea that he’s been struggling came from. He’s been the best O-lineman the last few years too.

I thought he was struggling...

…but anyway, he’d be better then Rackley, and a lot of people think Rackley can turn into a center.

Yes, but everyone makes mistakes

And now he is living with 3 freshman in the dorms (mightve been forced to, but w/e). I personally would rather have Floyd honestly

Justin Blackmon

Kid is a beast, has less issues than Jeffery and seems to be more willing to fight for the ball. I much rather have the stud from OK State, especially since I think we will be in great position to grab the kid

Our Oline looks just average this year because of injuries.

With a healthy Monroe and Britton at T, Rackley continuing to develop and Uche, we really only have one starting spot open after Meester leaves. Also, Spitz was an interior starter before injuries so he has potential and Whimper has played fairly well at RT. I think when our line is healthy it is a Top 18 line in the league. Then again, it is never healthy so I can see us picking up one guy in the first four rounds. Draft Jeffery or Coples in the 1st. If we can get Coples, I am starting to like that more and more because a team can never use too many pass rushers. After watching Detroit, I want a DE rotation like that. Also this is a very deep WR class. Then get a WR, DE, or CB in the second, then a DE or CB in the third, and then an Oline in the 4th. I want to see what we do in FA after the season is over before I start doing mocks because we may have filled a need or two by then. I would like to see us fill the DE or Oline need and then be able to draft Jeffrey and Floyd or another WR in the second because we need ones that bad. I dont want to talk about mocks yet though or else I’ll get addicted.

As of now

The Jags will be picking too high to grab Ashlon Jeffery without trading back….which i’m good with

by youngnixx88788 on Oct 13, 2011 1:08 PM EDT reply actions

3 O-linemen?

Can’t see that happening at all. I’m all for Jeffery, the Fletcher and Belcher picks, I like. But in all seriousness, its waaaay to early for mocks, you have no idea where anyone will end up and you have no idea who will declare.

Thats why it is fun.

Hmmmm

1) Alshon Jeffery-WR-USC: Big bodied, an elite talent, and has his head on straight. If he’s there, he should and likely will be the pick #81

2) Kelechi Osemele-OL-Iowa: I like him too. He’s huge and versatile. I think he’s one of the safest picks in the draft, but the lack of the “it” factor will drop his stock.

3) Andre Branch-DE-Clemson: Having a good season with one great game that’s inflated his stats. WR and DE are two positions we’ve been looking for an impact from from for a long time, so hopefully we can finally get those players in this draft.

4) Trumaine Johnson-DB-Montana: One of two players I liked from small schools before they made the “headline” on the front page. A rangy guy who should have versatility at the next level.

5) Brian Quick-WR-Appalachian State: He’s a big body like Jeffery, and we need more of them to go along with our otherwise tiny WRs.

6) Scott Wedige-OC-Northern Illinois: Paved the way for a strong rushing game a season ago. Hopefully would develop into the replacement for the aging, but seemingly ageless Meester

7) Shawn Powell-P-Florida State: A rugby style punter to replace Podlesh who finally turned in a good season, only to go cash out with the bears.

that’s not gonna happen.
