Dolphins' Anthony Fasano latest to voice displeasure about fans wanting to Suck for Luck

As the season progresses, more and more NFL players are being asked about the possibility of their team drafting Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The subject of the discussion is either about how the team doesn't need Luck or how it's not right for fans to root for the first pick in the draft. To "Suck for Luck," if you will. This week, the most outspoken player is Miami Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano who isn't happy with fans rooting for teams to lose.

"It’s sick actually," Fasano told WFAN. "I can’t even fathom those thoughts of those people that conjure up that stuff. They have never played sports and pretty much aren’t really our loyal fans. I can’t really put any weight into that and I know the players don’t listen to it. It’s a shame, but people are going to talk and we just have to block that out."

Star-divide

Luck is nearly a lock to be the top overall pick in the 2012 draft and considered by many a once-in-a-generation talent. The junior recently reiterated his feelings about fans wanting their teams lose in order to draft him.

"I don't think a fan should want a team to lose, whether now or later," he told Sam Farmer  of the Los Angeles Times. "Fans should support their team, have them win, and whatever happens, happens."

What's happening is the Dolphins at 0-7 currently hold the top overall pick next season. As most expect, the choice would be Luck, should he enter the draft. Fasano told WFAN that he's fine with current starter Chad Henne, who is out for the year.

"I think he has all the tools," Fasano said of Henne. "I think he showed some really good growing signs earlier in the year and he’s a hard working kid. I love playing with him. It’s a shame what happened to him. I plan on him coming back better than ever."

Special thanks to our pals at SportsRadioInterviews for transcribing the Fasano interview. Read the full thing here, including Fasano's thoughts on the Dolphins celebrating the Florida Gators last Sunday.

So if Miami ends up with the #1 pick I take it he will recommend NOT drafting Mr Luck.
