California at Oregon NFL Draft watch notes

Photo

After a rough start to the season, Oregon's LaMichael James is showing why he's so highly regarded. In his past two games (against Missouri State and Arizona), he's ran for a combined 492 yards and five touchdowns. He's clearly a talented, albeit somewhat undersized, player. Still, it's hard to decipher what makes him different than a player like C.J. Spiller of the Buffalo Bills. Like James, Spiller was a college star whose game didn't translate to the next level.

After coming back from a suspension, Ducks cornerback Cliff Harris has seen sporadic playing time. As such, few players have probably seen their draft stock plummet more than Harris in 2011. Harris starred in last year's game between these two teams, so he could be looking to prove he's still worth early round consideration.

Tight end David Paulson seems like a player who will be a better pro once he gets out of the wide-open system Oregon uses. Outside linebacker Josh Kaddu will get a look in the NFL due to his size/speed combination. Junior defensive end Dion Jordan is another size/speed player with intrigue for Oregon. He's listed at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds and has four tackles for loss on the year. The converted tight end is expectedly raw, but worth keep an eye on tonight.

Star-divide

California doesn't boast quite as many prospects as it once did, but the Golden Bears have a few prospects to watch.

Chief among them is senior defensive end Trevor Guyton. He's a natural end in a 3-4 system. He has nice size at a listed 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds and plays with a lot of effort. Middle linebacker Mychal Kendricks is a stoutly built but short leader of Cal's defense. He profiles as a special teams player at the next level.

Golden Bears senior wide receiver Marvin Jones is a solid size prospect for the position. He doesn't really stand out in any area of the game, but has been dependable.

For anyone looking forward to the 2013 NFL Draft (you deranged freak), don't forget about Western Kentucky inside linebacker Andrew Jackson tonight against Middle Tennessee. He's a big-time playmaker. On the season he has 48 tackles and seven tackles for loss. He is only a true sophomore, however.

LaMike has 492 yards rushing in the last two games not 292

Also I don’t think he’ll play tonight because he isn’t 100% but what do you think of Michael Clay? He’s the Ducks best LB

go bears!

and I think CJ Spiller failed cuz he’s a Clemson product lol… something about Clemson players doesn’t translate well

Spiller has failed SO FAR because of the way his coaches use him

Spiller is not a conventional RB. You cannot give him and Fred Jackson the same plays. Sean Payton has no problems getting production out of Bush and Sproles. Yet both of those guys would be wasted on the Giants.

Build can make a big difference. There is not much of a size difference between Jones-Drew and Sproles, but one is a tough inside runner and the other is not. James can maintain his feet after contact.

If Spiller was good, they’d find ways to get him more than 13 carries in four games.

This is the Bills we are talking about

If you start trying to apply logical reasoning, you will confuse them.

Just like the Dolphins have no idea what they are doing with Bush.

Look at 2013

I’m really excited for Keenan Allen. I was skeptical when I saw he was playing WR full time last year as I thought he was a tremendous safety prospect in high school but WOW. I like him alot.

I'm just a dude who likes talking to other dudes about other dudes.........in a straight way.

He was impressive. Just incredible body control.

Impressive might be a understatement since his brother as the ESPN commentators wouldn’t stop saying every other word when talking about them is a terrible QB
