Updated 2012 NFL Draft strong safety rankings

After the jump, check out the updated strong safety rankings. The most notable difference from the previous rankings is the drop of Miami's Ray Ray Armstrong. He just can't get on the field. While there will sometimes be a pass for injured players, Armstrong's inability to get on the field is his own fault.

Also, it's true, there are two South Carolina players listed as strong safeties after the jump. DeVonte Halloman plays a more true safety role for the Gamecocks while Antonio Allen plays the Spur, a combination linebacker/safety position.

Dan, I just relooked at the prospect notes on Ray Ray

you and I were both wrong about him developing into the best safety of the class… but Mark Barron will be a nice consolation prize for whoever takes the first safety

Would you consider Kenny Tate as a Safety?

I support the Giants like bras support Kim Kardashian's boobs. It can be a struggle, we've had some jiggles, but we're still firm.

What players on the list have the upside if unlocked to jump into the late first round or early second?

For me the Colts two greatest needs other than QB are CB and SS. And impact SS would be great at #33 but I can’t see any that would have greater value than any of the CB that should be available then.

Right now, Barron is probably the only guy worthy of a pick in the first two rounds.

Dan, what do you think of Kenny Vacaro of Texas?

He’s a junior so he could come back.
