Updated 2012 NFL Draft tight end rankings

There has been some serious change at the top of the tight end rankings, but not much else. The new No. 1 tight end for me is Clemson's Dwayne Allen. He shows great body control for a tight end. The previous top tight end, Jake Stoneburner of Ohio State, hasn't don't as much as I thought he would this season. I still love his potential but he's a little hamstrung by the Buckeyes' quarterback situation.

The rankings, which are after the jump, also feature the debut of Christian Fauria of UCLA. Of all the draft-eligible tight ends, he might be the most impressive physically.

Star-divide

1. Dwayne Allen | 6'4, 255 pounds | TE | Clemson *
2. Orson Charles | 6'3, 240 pounds | TE | Georgia * - Prospect notes
3. Coby Fleener | 6'6, 245 pounds | TE | Stanford - Prospect notes
4. Jake Stoneburner | 6'5, 245 pounds | TE | Ohio State *
5. Ladarius Green | 6'6, 230 pounds | TE | Louisiana-Lafayette - Prospect notes
6. Michael Egnew | 6'6, 235 pounds | TE | Missouri - Prospect notes
7. Joseph Fauria | 6'7, 252 pounds | TE | UCLA *
8. David Paulson | 6'4, 242 pounds | TE | Oregon - Prospect notes
9. George Bryan | 6'5, 265 pounds | TE | North Carolina State
10. Rhett Ellison | 6'5, 255 pounds | TE | Southern California
11. DeAngleo Peterson | 6'3, 236 pounds | TE | LSU
12. Evan Rodriguez | 6'3, 250 pounds | TE | Temple
13. D.C. Jefferson | 6'6, 258 pounds | TE | Rutgers *
14. Brian Linthicum | 6'5, 245 pounds | TE | Michigan State
15. Philip Lutzenkirchen | 6'4, 250 pounds | TE | Auburn *
16. Brad Herman | 6'4, 255 pounds | TE | Iowa

one of these guys will be a niner

Defense the part of the team whose purpose is to give the offense some rest.
And when we win, we want to dominate. We want to take guys out. We want to hurt guys. We want to win. We just want to dominate, hit them in the mouth. - Rathman

When Jim Harbaugh says "more is more" I think he is trying to say Moore is more.

I want UCLA TE

Dude would fit perfectly on the Niners.

Allen is an OK blocker

He’s on top for his athleticism and hands.

Jim Harbaugh loves TEs like Hugh Heffner likes blondes with big boobs.

We run a lot of three TE sets and our third TE isn’t the best. Someone like Fauria can make that set more dynamic.

We have our foot on their necks now stomp on it.

OK, that I can understand,

considering GB has 5 TEs on the roster. You can probably pencil us in for taking one too.

Just looked it up after this year the Niners will only have 2 TEs

Kind of hard to run a 3 TE set with only 2 TEs. The Packers have 5 TEs? Doesn’t seem like you guys ever use them.

J-Mike is a beast obviously.

Andrew Quarless is a 2nd-year developing guy. He plays some.
Tom Crabtree is a blocking TE but catches the occasional pass.
D.J. Williams is a rookie TE/HB guy. Doesn’t play much but has potential.
Ryan Taylor is a ST guy, and a pretty decent one.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Coby Fleener

If Harbaugh drafts one of the top tight ends, it will likely be his own protege at Stanford, Coby Fleener…who is a total stud!

Honestly i think Orson should stay another year in College

He hasn’t done as much this year as i thought he would. Plus i want him back for next year.

What round is O. Charles projected in?

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

Agree

He has not done much, and Murray will be back for another year.

As an Aaron Murray fanboy, I want Charles to go back for another year as well. If Charles and Jones don’t go pro, Georgia could be nasty next year.
