Your Team's Draft
I know there have been a few of these running around here so I thought we could put our ideas for our team's draft into one thread. Seeing a bunch of lists all together should also help give people less familiar with certain teams get a feel for team needs of other teams and what kind of players their fans think should fill those needs.
Since I'm a Colts fan (yay for me) I'll throw up a few of my variations to start out.
Picking 1st Overall:
1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford
2. Chase Minnifield CB Virginia
3. Colby Fleener TE Stanford
4. Ryan Miller G Colorado
5. Tavon Wilson SS Illinois
6. Malik Jackson DE Tennessee
7. Greg McCoy CB/KR Texas Christian
Picking 2nd Overall:
1. Matt Kalil OT Southern California
2. Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M
3. Markelle Martin S Oklahoma State
4. Keith Tandy CB West Virginia
5. Marvin McNutt WR Iowa
6. Mike Martin DT Michigan
7. Tashaun Gipson CB Wyoming
In the first list the prize is obviously Luck and Minnifield would be a huge boost in the secondary moving Powers and Thomas to #2 and nickel where they are passable. The rest including Fleener are tools to make Luck's life easier and bodies sorely needed on defense.
The second list is more about trying to win with Manning and develop Tannehill to start in a few years. With Kalil added to a line that should get Castonzo, Ijalana, Reitz etc back next year could be a foundation for a competitive offense even if Tannehill has to start right away.

first pick isn't terrible for Colts if you're going to take Luck
I’m of the opinion that you trade if for a king’s ransom though. The second pick is OK. I’m not sure I’d take a QB in the second though. I’d probably wait for a late round mediocre QB more like a Kellen Moore type. I think the drop off in careers for Tannenhill and Moore aren’t all that far apart. Neither in my opinion is a franchise QB, so you’d rather burn a 5-6 rounder on a QB if you have to have one than a 2nd rounder for similar career arcs.

QB
I am for taking Luck at #1. Tannehill doesn’t do anything for me particularly. Generally I view this as a binary situation.
0 = No Manning. Take a QB with the first pick no matter what. Luck if you have the #1 pick, Barkley if you have #2.
1 = Manning. If Manning can come back, I expect him to be at full strength and he will be around for another 3-4 years. If they still wanted a QB in the first I would not fault them, but if not; the goal becomes winning now. A 2nd round or later QB does nothing to help that cause and is not a meaningful upgrade over Curtis Painter.
For me I think Tannehill is a special case. I believe he is a franchise quarterback that can be had (possibly) in the top of the second because he may need a few years to develop in the NFL. I agree with you that if Manning is healthy and good to go for 3-4 years it would be best to trade down and load up on picks and if he is done then draft a QB in the first, but if Manning’s health is in question but he is still going to give it a go Tannehill would be the perfect compromise pick.

Kellen Moore = small system QB with a noodle arm
And if college career arcs ment anytHing in the NFL then Timmy Chang would have made the all decade team

Kellen Moore also has better ball placement than most QBs
He also has enough arm strength to make all of the throws.
Supposedly the Niners have a weak offense. They are only ranked 6th in PPG.

When Jim Harbaugh says "more is more" I think he is trying to say Moore is more.
1. Luke Kuechly LB Boston College
2. Ronnell Lewis LB Oklahoma
2. Nick Perry DE USC
3. Senio Kelemente OL Washington
4. Christian Tupou DT USC
4. Brian Linthicum TE Michigan St
5. Malik Jackson DL Tennessee
6. Robert Golden CB Arizona
6. Miles Burris LB San Diego St
6. Keshawn Martin WR Michigan St
The Curse of Lombardi
If your 6 existing DEs are not doing their job
Then you need to find new people to pick your DEs. It’s overkill to draft any more – there will be no playing time for Graham.

Colts Draft
I drew up a Colts Draft assuming they draft #2 about a month ago. I had it:
- Matt Barkley – QB – USC
- Ryan Broyles – WR – Oklahoma
- William Vlachos – C -Alabama
- Tony Dye – SS – UCLA
- DeQuan Menzie -CB – Alabama
- Antione McClain – G – Clemson
- Greg McCoy -CB/KR – TCU
I might opt for a bigger WR like Sanu from Rutgers depending on who they decide to re-sign. I am figuring Saturday retires this year (or next at the latest) so C becomes a big need area. I might move CB up some now that they released Tryon. We have absolutely no one opposite powers.
I’m not sure if center is really that high of a need. The way he is playing now Saturday looks good for a year or two more at a very high level. We also still have Pollak around who I realize hasn’t been consistently good at guard due to some of his physical limitations but his technique and intelligence really showed up whenever he has gotten a shot at center. To me he is the future at center and should be an above average starter.
I also think we need at least one CB in the first three rounds. I don’t usually clamor for corners because I think they are generally interchangeable in our system but the area has become so devoid of talent we need someone who can step in as the #1 and let the other guys move down in roles. Kevin Thomas has shown some things since getting the starting job and if he continues to get better this may become less of a need but I don’t expect it to. David Caldwell has also begun to improve at SS but he will have to show alot more so we don’t need to draft a SS in the mid rounds somewhere.
Jason Heyward wins at baseball.
I more or less agree on both points. Saturday has been incredible this year. I think he could play another year (maybe two.) My concern is that his contract is up at the end of the season and he will be 37 next year. Sounds like a natural time to hang it up. I have given up on Pollack. When Saturday was hurt, they cycled through a number of guys at center without ever giving Pollack a shot. The had Jacques McClendon taking reps there for crap sake. I think the ship has sailed on Mike.
I think CB has become a much bigger priority than it was a couple weeks ago, but if given the choice between a new CB and a new SS in our defense, I take the SS. Bullitt doesn’t cut it and Lefeged is just a backup. We need a real playmaker back there to stabilize things. Not sure who they can get to play CB (they honestly have NOTHING right now), but in terms of positional value I would address other areas first.

Rams Draft (not a consensus, lol)
1. Alshon Jeffery WR USC
2. Jayron Hosley CB Virginia Tech
3. David Wilson RB Virginia Tech
4. Eddie Whitley S Virginia Tech
5. Barquell Rivers LB Virginia Tech
6. Cris Hill CB Virginia Tech
7. Antoine Hopkins DT Virginia Tech
Though unrealistic, the needs are there (WR, CB, RBotF, DT, LB, S- could use an OG/T too)
All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.
-Mark Twain
Packers, could go a few ways but here go;
1. Brandon Jenkins DE/LB FSU- need pass rush/playmaking across matthews
2. Kelechi Osmele OG Iowa- Need interior OL depth, and maybe replace Lang
3. Brandon Boykin CB Georgia- Good corner, play Dime until C-Dub slows down.
4. Andre’ Ellington RB Clem- The really fast back we don’t have, good on 3rd downs.
5. Aaron Henry S Wisconsin- With Collins’ career in jepoardy, take a hometown name.
6. BPA D-line- Big enough to play 3-tech in the 3-4.
7. Chandler Harnish QB No Illinois- Flynn probably gone, add another depth QB.
Is Royce Da 5'9" actually 5'9"? The world may never know.
After thinking more about it
OG isn’t that much of a need, because Lang has actually been pretty good this year, despite some false starts. Guard still isn’t out of question though becuase there isn’t much depth there at all, but it probably wont be adressed til later in the draft.

NY Giants draft
1) Zach Brown OLB/MLB UNC fits what they want at LB perfectly
2) Kelechi Osemele OG/OT Iowa state they need big powerful lineman in order to be the running team they want to be
3) Isiah Pead RB Cincinnati underrated all around back, gives the RBs more speed
4) George Bryan TE NC State Not the greatest athlete, but with Jake Ballard producing like he’s Antonio Gates with Eli as his QB, that doesn’t really matter
5) Neiko Thorpe S/CB Auburn versatile DB, he’s tall but not all that big. Ideally could help against big, tall WRs that have given the Giants trouble down the field
6) Damarlo Belcher WR Indiana Gigantic and fast, has a bit of an Alshon Jeffrey effect an IU due to a terrible QB, but he’s got a lot of upside
7) Omar Bolden CB Arizona State; Injured, but was as good as Terrel THomas in college before the injury and could be another low risk, high reward type deal. Probably goes a lot sooner if his health checks out.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Belcher
He was recently dismissed from IU for violating team rules, he done for the year. With that said, he’s still on the NFL radar and I think he would be a good late-rd pick like you have in your mock. Belcher is big and while he’s not a burner, he’s pretty fast for his size.

Giants draft #2
1. Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia – My flavor of the week after seeing Virginia play zone. I’m thinking Ross is the most likely loss in free agency. 2nd choice: Dwight Jones, WR, UNC
2. Ben Jones, C/G, Georgia – Shores up the interior OL, him or Baas could play LG. 2nd choice: Greg Childs, WR, Arkansas – Size and athleticism.
3. Isaiah Pead, RB, Cincinnati – A multi-skill RB who will replace Jacobs in a year
4. DeVier Posey, WR, Ohio State – Giants will take a chance on knuckleheads when they drop.
5. Michael Williams, TE, Alabama – A big-time blocker at TE
6. Tanner Brock, LB, TCU – A try at a real LB for SAM.
7. Josh Oglesby, RT, Wisconsin – Backup and 3rd tackle on running plays.
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
Jags
1-Alshon Jeffrey WR USCe
2. Alonzo Dennard CB Nebraska
3. Jake Bequette DE Arkansas
4. Wiliiam Vlachos C Bama
5. Traded
6.Chris Owusu WR Stanford
7. Mike Harris CB FSU
SCALP'EM
Jesus is Lord!
Probably questioning Dennard in the 2nd
I think Owusu should go higher as well.
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
yeap.
Dennard is a possible/probably top 15 pick and Owusu is a 2-3rd round guy.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
i could see dennard falling
given Morris Claiborne, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Janoris Jenkins. I admit he still likely is off the baord by the Jags second round pick, but I see him as a potential faller
funny that Kirkpatrick and Claiborne are two taht some consider "falling".
And Jenkins has no shot of going that high, not with his past troubles with Florida. If he goes anywhere before the 3rd round it’ll be a gigantic surprise.
Dennard might fall to around 20 like his former teammate did, but I doubt that far.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Draft strength
With a lack of top DEs/OLBs (and maybe DTs), I think teams leaning defense might go for the other end of the passing game, CB, instead. Pushes CBs higher.
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
I don't think Dennard is top 15, Owusu not that high;
Dennard is behind Kirkpatrick for sure, probably Minneifled and Claiborne too. Jenkins, maybe, only if a team isn’t too worried about his off-field troubles. Assuming the Jags could be picking in the top 5 Denard could be there in the 2nd round. He’ll probably go 5-10 picks before but it’s a possibliyy.
I’ve seen Stanford play like 3-ish times and Owusu hasn’t jumped out at me, the TEs make more big receptions, and his stats don’t suggest he’s much of a playmaker (11.2 yards per catch, 370 yards, 2 TDs on season).

Stanford spreads it around
Doug? Baldwin was a nobody, UDFA, and he is producing for Seattle.
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
I know they spread it around
I can see why that would affect his number of targets and catches, but his Avg being only 11.2 doesn’t tell good things about his playmaking and YAC skills, especially in a pro-style offense (where they aren’t throwing bubble screens that are supposed to only get 5-8 yards).

Panther Draft with Trades
As it is now I am not happy with where the Panthers look to sit in the draft if they were to draft straight. They aren’t high enough likely to get in position to get Kalil, who Panther fans would love. They also aren’t low enough that a player like Ta’amu makes sense, and may be even to high for Thompson to be worth the pick. In this draft I will propose a trade down, actually two, to help set up the Panthers better. Also I used a value chart so I am not just pulling these picks out.
5th-6th pick – Trade Down with Seattle (10th) for Seattle’s 1st and 2nd round pick, 5th. (Maybe a 2013 pick)
10th pick – Trade Down again to 15 for Philly 1st and 3rd
The teams may change but people most likely will want to move up for one of the QB’s or maybe one of the WR’s and the 10 range is usually a normal trade area as well.
1) Zach Brown – OLB – UNC – With athleticism to the max, helps the Panther LB situation as who knows if Thomas Davis will ever be back
2) Alamedu Ta’amu – DT/NT – Washington – One of my favorite prospects, but he seems to be falling on boards, most likely I expect him to be gone here though. Jared Crick is a possibility if he is as is Still or Forston later in the draft.
2) Dwight Jones – WR – UNC – Big target who I think could turn into a very good NFL WR. A lot of talk has been given to using a pick on Jeffrey or Blackmon, but I think Jones is much better value with as much chance to succeed.
3) Cliff Harris – CB – Oregon – Only reason he falls this far is the character issues and suspensions. A lot of people have the Panthers taking a CB very high but the early reports on Hogan is very very good and he could allow Cap’t to move back to Nickel where he is very very good.
4) Audie Cole – ILB – NC State – More depth at LB who has the athleticism to develop into more as he still is transitioning from OLB and as an ILB has a lot of athleticism to get around and make plays with. Would be great for Special Teams as well.
5) Vaughn Telemaque – FS – Miami – Continuing the theme of shoring up the defense, Telemaque provides depth as a solid overall player who could develop more but provides good special teams help
5) Cam Johnson – DE/OLB – Virginia – Great burst off the end, has been hurt on and off all year, could be another Hardy but also could line up in the 3-4 outside
6) Jemarcus Hardrick – OT – Nebraska – A big OT to help with Otah’s absence if Bell does not work.
7) Chris Rainy – RB/WR – Florida – a speedy player who makes plays you hope he can be a change of pace to Double Trouble as Goodson seems to be losing his place.
Chiefs draft scenarios
A: picking 8-15
1. Vontaze Burfict, ILB, Arizona St
2. Mike Adams, OT, Ohio St
3. Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri
B. picking 15-23
1. Manti T’eo, ILB, Notre Dame
2. Josh Chapman, NT, Alabama
3. Nate Potter, OT, Boise St
both good scenarios
I think you have the positions of need mostly right as well…though I could see them taking a G instead of an OT, and I would Really like a Safety for depth around the 3rd rd.
I don't like drafting a SILB in the first but i see a huge talent dropoff after the first 3
I would prefer scenario two with a safety / rb in the 4th and 5th.

I’d expect to be picking 8-11 range, maybe lower…
1st Round: Chase Minnifield, CB
2nd Round: Peter Konz, OL
2nd Round: Ryan Tannehill, QB
3rd Round: Kevin Reddick, ILB
4th Round: Orson Charles, TE
4th Round: Nate Potter, OL
5th Round: Chris Summers, WR
6th Round: Patrick Witt, QB
Pick and choose the rest. BPA

Bengals Draft #1
Round 1: (via Raiders) Morris Claiborne DB LSU
Round 1: David DeCastro OG Stanford
Round 2: Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma
Round 3: Isiah Peads RB Cincinnati
Round 4: Trumaine Johnson DB Montana
Round 5: Ryan Lindley QB San Diego State
Round 5: (via Patriots) Jaye Howard DT Florida
Round 6: De’Quan Menize DB Alabama
Round 7: Ronnie Sneed LB Kentucky
Redskins
1 – Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A & M Probaly to early for Tannehill but I think with QBs it’s better to reach for your guy than take the chance he is gone by the time you pick again. I like Tannehill & I think he is a very good fit for both Mike & Kyle Shannahans systems, he is very smart, athletic & extremely mobile.
2 – Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama A steal for any team in the 2nd rd. Possibly the best corner in a very good CB draft, would immediately make D Hall expendable.
3 – Zebrie Sanders RT FSU Jamal Brown has been a huge & expensive disappointment
4 – Chris Marve ILB Vanderbit Very smart, instinctive & a team leader.London Fletcher has been one of the best but he is 37
4 – Senio Kelemele G Washington A solid Guard prospect who is athletic & would be a good fit a ZBS. (Oaklands pick)
5 – Troy Stoudemire CB Minn. Depth, STs & possible starter down the road
6 – Travis Henry WR Miami Speedster to take over from Moss
7 – Trulon Henry FS Illinois Depth & STs
Fletcher has at least 5 years left
Kills the Giants every time.

Jaguars
1 — Ashon Jeffrey, WR S. Carolina
2 — Morris Claiborne, CB LSU
3 — Vinny Curry, DE Marshall
4 — Orson Charles, TE Georgia
5 — Amini Silatolu – OG – Midwestern State
6 — *Dwight Lowery trade
7 — Chris Rainey, ATH UF or Greg Childs, WR, Arkansas
I feel that Corners have began to drop in the draft as of late (see: Amukamara), which is why Claiborne falls to the beginning of the second round. Like Claiborne, Curry is a first round talent that will drop due to his competition level, which won’t stop Gene Smith form getting him early in the 3rd round.
I'm not seeing your logic with those guys falling,
Just because we saw a corner fall last draft doesn’t mean we’re going to see another one drop. We saw Joe Haden out of the SEC get taken in the top 10 recently. Everyone, including NFL scouts, is crazy about these tough, athletic SEC defenders. And for Curry, he’s in the Top 5 in the FBS in sacks and has prototypical size, it would be considered a drop if he fell into the 40s.

Yes
That would be zone coverage where the CBs line up in front of the WRs and presumably contest the break off the line. I can’t imagine many teams play this because the transition from man to zone cannot be easy.
I watched Virginia against Miami. I saw a lot of standard zone, but I did see some plays where Minnifield was lined up in man coverage in the slot. He has the size to play 1-on-1. Which is surprising because his father was tiny.
