Stars of the Week - Week 8 and the mid-season Stars
I have finally gotten time to stop in at my local library to type these up (have no power until Sunday). This post will look at the stars of the week for week 8, as well as giving 4 points in the standings for Star of the Season to 3 offensive and 3 defensive players and also giving 2 points for honorable mentions for mid-season star. This list was especially tough to put together.
Offensive Stars of the WeekStar No. 1 - Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers - Newton was very impressive this week and put up 300+ yards and 3 TDs.
Star No. 2 - LeSean McCoy, RB, Philadelphia Eagles - Shady dominated the terrible Cowboys defense to the tune of 180 yards and 2 TDs.
Star No. 3 - Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams - Jackson finally showed why he is considered by some to be a top 5 RB and carried the Rams to a shocking upset over the Saints.
Honorable Mentions: Calvin Johnson, Ben Roethlisberger, Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, Matthew Stafford, Eli Manning
Defensive Stars of the Week
Star No. 1 - Cliff Avril, DE, Detroit Lions - Avril had one of the best efforts from a defensive player on the season.
Star No. 2 - DeMarcus Ware, OLB, Dallas Cowboys - Ware constantly pressured Michael Vick, posting a whopping 4 sacks.
Star No. 3 - London Fletcher, LB, Washington Redskins - Fletcher had 20 tackles, .5 sacks, and 1 INT. That my friends is impressive stuff.
Honorable Mentions: Chris Long, Derrick Johnson, Eric Weddle, Andre Carter, Tamba Hali, Ahmad Brooks, Marcell Dareus, LaMarr Woodley
Dud of the Week - Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans - Benched in favor of Javon Ringer. Nuff said.
Offensive Mid Season Stars (4 points)
Star No. 1 - Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers - Has any player been better than Rodgers this year? According to me, yes but nonetheless he was still one of the best offensive performers in the NFL this season so far.
Star No. 2 - Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears - Matt Forte has contributed for 46% of the Bears yards. That is about all that needs to be said here.
Star No. 3 - Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit Lions - Johnson has posted 800+ yards and 11 TDs so far and that is too good to ignore.
Honorable Mentions (2 points): Adrian Peterson, LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson, Steve Smith, Wes Welker, Mike Wallace, Drew Brees, Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger
Defensive Mid Season Stars (4 points)
Star No. 1 - Jared Allen, DE, Minnesota Vikings - 13 sacks in 8 games. How incredible is that? He is on pace for a whopping 26 sacks and in my opinion, he is the MVP of the league so far.
Star No. 2 - DeMarcus Ware, OLB, Dallas Cowboys - Ware was not in consideration until his 4 sack game but that game vaulted him up to the #2 star and right in the discussion for DPOY.
Star No. 3 - Brandon Flowers, CB, Kansas City Chiefs - FLowers has quietly produced one of the best seasons in the league. He is my #1 player in the secondary so far. He has 4 INTS (1TD), 15 Pass Deflections, 30 tackles, and he has constantly blanketed receivers.
Honorable Mentions (2 points) - LaMarr Woodley, Eric Weddle, Darrelle Revis, Jason Babin, Jason Pierre Paul, Pat Angerer
Mid Season Dud (-5 points) - Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans - Has anyone been worse than CJ1YPC? Not in my opinion. As someone who picked him in the top 5 of a fantasy league, I know first hand how bad he has been. And now he has been benched for Javon Ringer. Hopefully Tennessee is enjoying that outrageous contract they gave him.
That is all for this week. Hopefully I can get the Week 8 Power Rankings up tomorrow if I can make it back to the library.

My coach walks in on Monday of Bergen week (Bergen Catholic is our biggest rival) and tells us that a media member told him that the Bergen players were talking shi*t about how they are going to kick our a*s. He then says, "you know what I told the media member to tell the Bergen Players? To suck my di*k and eat it. They have no fuc*ing chance of beating us because we are tougher than them"

Nope.
Flowers has been incredible so far this year. Ike Taylor has been better in coverage than Revis this year as well but because of Revis’ splash plays, he made the list. In terms of coverage, I would say Revis has been between 3rd and 5th this year. He is not a God like Jets fans make him out to be.

Bro, you are smoking crack. Go look at QBR against and say that again with a straight face. He’s not only making splash plays, but he’s absolutely shutting down everybody he defends.
You can look at QBR with a straight face?!
I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

This is going to sound crazy but I don’t think Ware should be the 2nd star, one of the announcers said(I think Michaels) that was the quietest 4 sack game anyone will ever have, I didn’t even realize he had 4 sacks until it was mentioned. I thought he only had 1 or 2.
great but he still had 4 sacks.

There is no mention of Carlos Dunlap for this week.
Don’t look at the sack total, just look at the impact he had on the game. That alone should give you an idea of how good he was this week. Even if he’s not top three, he still should be an honorable mention.
"It’s time people started realizing just how good a player Carlos Dunlap already is, and that starts with the Bengals. They gave him a season-high 58 snaps and what was the result? Carnage on the right side of the Seattle line." -Pro Football Focus
we have been over this
all i look at is the box score because i cant watch all the games
