LSU at Alabama NFL Draft watch notes
This is it. LSU at Alabama. The game of the century (of the year). The winner is probable player in the national title game (unless they lose in the SEC Championship game). OK, this one isn't quite for all the Tostitos, but a nice handful.
In regard to the 2012 NFL Draft, Alabama's Trent Richardson is overwhelmingly the best player in the game. The powerhouse junior is a franchise back, and the rare one worth a top 10 pick. Richardson is shifty, strong and fast enough to pull away from defenders.
LSU counters Richardson with a young but incredibly talented defensive line. At this time next year, we're probably going to be referring to LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers as an early pick in the first round. The redshirt sophomore is a great talent at 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds. Bennie Logan, also a redshirt sophomore tackle, always seems to be around the ball. Fellow sophomore Barkevious Mingo is another top talent for 2013. The end is fluid and explosive off the snap. Right defensive end Sam Montgomery (yet another sophomore) is a solid player who plays with more power than Mingo. All four can fly to the ball, so Richardson and backup Eddie Lacy will have to rely on their power.
Kirkpatrick and Menzie are helped by perhaps the best safety duo in the nation in Mark Barron and Robert Lester. The hard hitting Baron is arguably the best safety prospect in the 2012 draft. Lester has more range but isn't as consistent as Barron.
A big key to this game could be the play of Alabama wide receiver Marquis Maze. He's a solid, but smaller, wide receiver. He'll have a hard time getting open as he's going against either Morris Claiborne or Tyrann Mathieu for LSU. But Maze is very good on kick and punt returns. In a game where both teams have so much talent, field position and special teams are going to be key.
The other key to the game could be LSU's use of the option with senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson. While Jefferson doesn't project well to the NFL, he's a good foil for the physical Alabama linebackers. Dont'a Hightower and Courtney Upshaw are possible first-round picks, but their lateral movement are question marks.
Other prospects to watch tonight:
- Alabama NT Josh Chapman: A big-bodied tackle who is hard to move. He's good at sucking in blockers and playing double teams.
- Alabama LT Barrett Jones: Jones is a dependable left tackle who is strong against power rushers. How he fares against the quick LSU ends will be interesting to watch.
- Alabama RT D.J. Fluker: A redshirt sophomore who starts on the right side, Fluker is the key to the Alabama run game. He's unlikely to come out, but if he does he could be the fourth-best tackle in the class.
- LSU TE DeAngelo Peterson: Looks to be a much better pro than college player because of the offense he plays in. Has nice size and is an asset in the play action game.
- LSU S Brandon Taylor: Taylor is a solid box safety who projects as a backup/special teams player at the next level. He should be near the football at all times tonight because Alabama doesn't throw deep often.

Amazing talking about the talent along LSU's defensive line
and you didn’t even mention Anthony Johnson who might be the best, or at least eventually may be.
I agree on Peterson and you can say the same with Russel Shepard and Reuben Randle. Maybe next year if Rivers is their QB they won’t be so undervalued, but those are two elite talents just middling away out there cuz of below average QBs
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Jarrett Lee has significantly improved the passing game in Baton rouge.
Watch true frosh Odell Beckham at wr. Jarvis Landry is another true frosh wr is a demon on special teams.. Spencer Ware along with Kenny Hilliard at rb will be fun to watch. Hilliard btw is a true frosh. Lsu has a 270lbs fb. Gonna be a great game.
Jerry is the end all in Dallas.

It's amazing talking bout the talent in general
On these two teams. Between Alabama and LSU here are probably at least 10 first or future first rounders on the teams combined.

Might be 10 this year
That was a fun game to watch. Amazing how stacked these teams are along both lines and in the defensive back field

Here's my watchlist for the week
Sorry I keep forgetting to email you this Dan. And of course, it’s got Bama-LSU on it.

wow the game was incredibly meh
its nice to watch great defense, but sometimes you just need to see a cool TD or something lol
So the kicker...
Supposedly the Niners have a weak offense. They are only ranked 6th in PPG.
Crabtree runs a 4.52

When Jim Harbaugh says "more is more" I think he is trying to say Moore is more.
Is such
A future first round pick

You could field a superbowl caliber defense with the defensive talent on these two teams and then still have some to spare. Hell, if you combined these teams you would probably have a top NFL team. Run a 3-4, move Mingo to OLB. Have Kirkpatrick, Claiborne and Mathieu at corner. They would be AT LEAST 2 deep at both safety spots with Barron, Lester, Taylor and Reid.
And then on offense there would be an incredible running game with Richardson, Ware, Lacey, Ford, Blue and Hilliard at running back with JC Copeland at FB, Michael Williams as the on the line Y and with DeAngelo Peterson and Brad Smelley as the move guys. Running behind an offensive line of Jones-Lonergan-Vlachos-Warmack-Fluker wouldn’t be bad either.
And split out wide you would have Rueben Randle, Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks.
The only hole I can really see is the QB spot but with the running game and defense they would have, who the hell would need one?

Can you imagine how good the team would be with Kellen Moore under center

FYI, Brockers, Big Sam, Logan, and Keke Mingo
Are 3 years removed from high school. They were part of the same recruiting class as Mo Claiborne but they redshirted. So I’d assume they are eligible for the 2012 draft.
